Absolutely. Two dogs in defence mode will scare the bejezus out of anyone with an ounce of sanity. They don't even have to be enormous. Eg the Blue Heeler is one of the most ferociously territorial dogs on earth, and they have absolutely no fear of tearing your legs apart despite their stature. The clue is in the name 'heeler' :p

You can see the wild streak in the eye .... Dingo blood makes all the difference.

Gorgeous. And I've seen those things hunt hogs. No way in hell I'd ever willingly cross one. They're the only dogs that I've seen put a donkey in its place. One of our pitties is part heeler, and the heeler is probably the scarier part.

Oh for sure. And they get that long jaw from the Dingo, so it's rarely modest damage. Coupled with the bully nature inherited from the terrier, and the high intellect from the wild side, and you have something better at home defence than the majority of larger breeds.

My own personal view is that heelers are really more suited to guarding than to herding, because they can really only heel. They can't work out wide the way kelpies do, and they're too hard on sheep. Most farmers prefer a dog who can heel and flank, and who can work any livestock without damage. The $30k price tag for a good kelpie pup reflects that value. Still way cheaper than humans!

Just on this topic, it's interesting to see how the dingo blood (present in both heelers and kelpies) played out so differently according to the original cross. The kelpie looks and in many ways behaves more like it's dingo ancestors than heelers do - in that they can be more 'scattered' and highly strung. They also tend to be not quite as 'loyal' to an individual as heelers are. They like people generally, but have more of the 'artic/wolf' approach, without overwhelming attachment to one place or person. That's not to say they aren't loyal to their pack and their home, because they are .. and will generally abide by the alpha's rules and respect the heirarchy etc .. they just wouldn't necessarily come to your defence, nor the defence of their territory. Bloody good dogs, IMO.

Bortan would actually play with this chihuahua a niece had. I think it's the soldier in him that he admires bravery

All dogs are good, it's a species characteristic, I've never yet seen a "bad" dog where some human undeserving of the name hadn't beat the good out of it.

A ex felon is denied the right to have a gun because they have demonstrated thier lack of responsibility and disregard for the law.
To bad so sad if they would act like responsible humans and not commit a felony they could own a gun.
    To bad so sad.
And there's a reason 7 out of 10 in jail id as democrats .

I think of you check there are over 1 million break ins a year and about 450000 people use a gun for self defense a year. Rape is common .
    Mugging armed robberys are common.

Odd you must think I have a heard of kids running in my home like wild buffalo.
No we have accidental gun deaths due to basic safety protocols not being followed such as checking to see if a gun is loaded or not before handling it.
    Owners not being careful.

Kids attract other kids. Family members have kids, friends and neighbors have kids. They are a major part of family and life. Don't your kids bring other kids home?

so what was your answer to the question "the mother and daughter deserve to be raped because dad stole a car when younger?"

I disagree with you, I think all free Americans have a right to own a gun to protect their homes and family

most people in jail identify as Christians

A break-in, i.e. burglary is indeed common. The usual goal is stealth to steal stuff to pawn to get money with no violence and get away with it repetitively. Best done when nobody is home. A violent home invasion? Not so common.

    "
Federal Bureau of Investigation, Supplementary Homicide
    Reports, 2003-2007

According to the FBI's Supplementary Homicide Reports, 430
burglary-related homicides occurred between 2003 and 2007 on
average annually. This number translates to less than 1% of all
    homicides during that period.

Between 2003 and 2007, approximately 2.1 million household
burglaries were reported to the FBI each year on average.
Household burglaries ending in homicide made up 0.004% of all
    burglaries during that period."

All true of course. I just have the most respect and admiration for herding breeds. Their intelligence, stamina, agility, and trainability is far beyond the average doggo.

Every parent in the world has that expectation. It is just the execution that turns out hard. If it was easy everyone's kids would grow up be successful and model people. We would not have crime, poverty, and ignorance because no parents wants that for their children but we are surrounded by it.

My grandfather raised me. Guns were kept in a unlocked case. There was no need to hide them lock them . A combo of respect and fear of grandfather was enough

I live in Maine, one of the safest states in the country. When I got my first house about 40 years ago, I sold all my guns, and pretty much everything else. Never saw a need to buy more guns. Waste of money.
