My family moved to the USA after WWII. There is no way any of my descendants owned slaves.

Was there crime? Yes, but not anymore than anywhere else. The majority of black families were religious and were two partner families that raised and disciplined their children. The disadvantage, IMO, was that in home education of their kids may not have been as strong as the white households. Prior education of black parents lacked the same education of European immigrant parent's, therefore, it would have been harder for some to help their children with homework. Even though both groups were poor, the white group, had the advantage education to climb their way out of poverty.

In the 60's with Kennedy - Johnson the idea of a Great Society sounded good but it may very well have been the beginning of the end for the Black Family. It was not detrimental to educated blacks nearly as it was to uneducated poor blacks, browns and whites. Even today, the black educated neighborhoods, thrive and are still doing well and their children are doing well. When the government became the parent and took away the incentive to better oneself and upgrade to a higher standard of living it was at the expense of the uneducated. It also was the collapse of the family.

The biggest incentive, for many men, was to walk away and take responsibility for supporting their children. This led to an explosion of single, head of the household moms, all over the country. It is understandable from a mothers point of view. She very well may have become pregnant from a boy friend that was less than desireable for fatherhood. He may have been very young, poor, or abusive etc. Now you had a government that supplied pre -natal care, health care before and after the child was born, and welfare assistance if needed. In any case the child will be taken care of. I am not saying this is 100% of the time. Many families jump in and raise the child and many kids do go through the process of toughing it out and raising their child.

 

Any black person that can prove they were a slave should be paid. Anyone that was actually a slave owner should pay for it.

 

Any person who is a slave owner should be arrested and put in jail.

 

The same care was available to every woman of the same income level.

I do agree it may have had some impact on a few. But that holds true for all, since welfare isn't just for a specific skin color.

 

I did not say is was. Re-read my post. I lived a majority of my life below the poverty level or in the next level above it. I did have a few years of prosperity. Money has never been a big thing with me and the accumulation of it.

I never had to deal with poverty. I finished school and remained motivated to get better every day. With that as a common theme, "Lifing" my "wife" made me a happy man!

aAmerica and Britain did not invent slavery. The Bible, Talman, and Koran have many examples of slavery long before either were a country. It was quite normal for any victorious tribe to make slaves out of the surviving losers. It was not uncommon for some of the existing Indian tribes in the New World (the Americans) to own slaves from neighboring tribes. Many of the first settlers in America were indentured servants and white. Many of those crossing that southern border today are also indentured servants to the drug cartels. So please stop trying to spread untrue information that only can cause more resentment and hate towards another group.
