Just something to consider in the docs case.

If the classified docs in Trump's possession had been de-classified as Don has claimed, why.....in response to the June 3rd subpoena for them....didn't Trump's attorneys say so. For example, their response to the DoJ could have been, "we'll give you the docs we have but they (some/all) have been de-classified." Or, "we aren't going to give you material that has been de-classified." But they didn't. They handed over some of the classified material with Trump remaining in possession of some.

As I said when the subpoena was handed down, Don's best chance of a lighter sentence is to plead guilty............because he is.

 

Maybe, because, as a lawyer, he preferred to keep his evidence and strategies secret until the trial?

 

Well... the explanation is this: Trump didn't have any classified documents, but he declassified them with his mind anyway, but he had a right to have all the classified documents, because what was in the boxes were his classified shoes, classified hats, classified shirts, classified newspaper clippings... which, after more than 2 years, he hadn't had time to take out of the boxes, so he gave some of the documents that weren't classified to the National Archive when subpoenaed, but not all because Biden and Pence had classified documents which THEY returned as soon as they became aware of their mistake, so why should he return them?

And if that isn't clear to you, it means your ability to double-think needs improvement.

Yep! If they weren't, your orange idol is looking at 10 years per document. But only about 3 each if they were. In either case, at his age, that would be a life sentence.

They don’t have to be. The statue is about the handling of information not the level of classification and they have him ON TAPE admitting to it

 

It is the core of the issue. Had he co-operated with the department from the get go as did Biden and Pence then there would be no charges. Look people like Glenn Kirshner and Joyce Vance not to mention all the lawyers on Miedas touch have explained this again and again. It is not unusual, given the sheer volume of documents involved in running a government, that members end up with some where they should not be - they contact NARA who roll their eyes and come and get them - no fuss no jail time BUT if you are found to have hoarded them and then refuse to give them back OR are found to have waved them around in front of random visitors THEN you will be charged

 

So, Trump is ONLY being charged with obstruction of justice?

 

That's just another charge....so what? He had classified documents in unsecured
locations that he was never authorized to have in the first place for many many years!

lee, are you mad? the very thought that trump and his legal dream team are required to observe the same laws as the rest of us has been disproven continuously for years.

in just a few short months the clock will run out, and biden, garland, and wray will be on their way to guantanamo bay with considerably less due process than we've been quibbling over in the documents case.

If obstruction was the only reason he got charged, then why was he charged with all that other stuff?
