The new indictment of Donald Trump on conspiracy charges related to his attempts to subvert the results of the 2020 election makes clear that the then-president not only made false claims about who won the presidency, but “knew that they were false.”

Trump’s tortured relationship with the truth is highlighted in an exchange he allegedly had with Vice President Mike Pence on Jan. 1, 2021. Trump, the indictment says, called Pence and “berated him” because Pence opposed efforts to claim that he alone had the power, in his ceremonial role presiding over the counting of the votes of the Electoral College, to reject the official tallies from the states.

As recounted in the indictment, Pence told Trump that — as he understood the laws of our land — there was no constitutional authority invested in the vice president to make such a move.

Trump then allegedly lit into Pence, telling him: “You’re too honest.”

Pence will certainly be the star witness in this trial, the most important in US history.

This single sentence - you're too honest - expresses how profoundly dangerous Trump is to this country.

MAGAs will continue to worship Trump, but the rest of America will be able to move on from a particularly painful time.

He won't. He's already made public statements to this effect. I don't like Pence that much, but I think he'll act with integrity in this respect.

Seriously? Perjury carries a promise of jail time for the person that does it. The guy that was too honest to engage in Trump's scheme, is going to throw away his freedom for Donald Trump LMFAO.

I think you can still be a prolific liar, and be too honest for trump. But I don’t think pence will lie.

IF TRUMP AGREED TODAY TO DROP OUT OF THE RACE AND OUT OF POLITICS OVERALL- ALL CHARGES WOULD DISAPPEAR OVERNIGHT.
THAT IS THE PRIME OBJECTIVE BEHIND ALL OF IT.

That should tell you what kind of people are behind the anti-Trump vendetta.

And since you lack the savvy to understand, "too honest" is a person who assumes that those they encounter are honest too- and are therefore are perfect as opponents, victims or cannon fodder.
You have to know when you are dealing with those lacking honor or you will be their next victim and not even know you're been taken. Naivety is NOT an asset in politics.
It's hard-ball; nice guys don't finish at all because they are the first to go down. Trump's tough- afraid of none and plays the game his way. That scares hell out of the corrupted core of politics.

It's not Trump the people love and support- it's the values he stands for; the core values that made America great.

Biden's for MAGA too- but to him, it's "Make America Grovel Again". If groveling is how you want to live, Biden's your man.

should we have the daily threads on Trump? To what end?

    Who cares?

Toss him out of the WH if it's that important to you. Oh wait, he's not POTUS, is he? The Democrat party and complicit media may find that they have over-played their hand.

You don't have to come to my thread.

You're free to go start a thread yourself about 50 people being fired at a gas station.

Trump is a candidate for president so criminal charges are noteworthy.

You seem to think like a child here. They must make a claim they can sell you on to get support, to do the damage the plan is designed to do. They depend on your gullibility, your weakness of personal strength to see through that and reject it. In other words- they know how to snow you. At this point, anyone still buying it is fighting everyday to keep telling themselves they aren't wrong

IF enforcing the laws was the primary motivation here, Biden would have been imprisoned years ago. The FBI and DOJ wouldn't be politically weaponized. Hillary would be in the womens side of the same prison along with Biden. The rapidly increasing evidence for this just keeps on accumulating, and every person, at some point, is going to have to admit they realize it's true. When each person does that will depend on their own values and character- but only those who have none of either can deny truth forever.

A good nation is built on our grasp of reality and our vision for improving the future. The current condition is the polar opposite of that... and what you believe will be determined either by the wisdom of your own mind and quality of your character, or the gullibility and lack of character. If you can't see the writing on the wall at this point. I would have no hope for you.

Do you realize that anyone can claim anything, and those without character will?
IF you were on a vendetta, you wouldn't give a damn if it was true or not- and that is exactly what is happening. They know that the culture of anti-Trumpes they have been nourishing for years will buy anything they throw out, and call it "just"- even though they use a totally different standard for those they like.
They fear Trump above all else; he is the Anti-christ to the left and they will do anything to destroy him.

They turned the slogan MAGA into some kind of evil. Obviously, you bought that. So tell me- why is the idea of living in a great nation ugly and offensive to you?

This is about that fear- not about actual violations of law. IF laws were being enforced, Hillary and Joe would both have been locked up long ago.

You know what I'm waiting for?
Trump to be charged for the Mueller investigation.
Trump's not President anymore. He can be charged with those 10 count of obstruction of justice.

I don't agree with much, if anything, politically speaking with Mike Pence and I find it hard to see a situation where I would ever cast a vote for him. That said, I think he'll do the honest thing here. He's an honorable man, no matter how much you may disagree with his political and/or religious positions. If he wanted power or wanted to be Trump's stooley on this issue, he had plenty of opportunities to do it.

Whatever I don't like about him, Pence was apparently not the type to lie and cheat the constitution to try to win. And at this point, he has little to gain from trying to protect Trump, and much to lose. He's already paid the political price for breaking with Trump, and he's not going to gain political capital by trying to crawl back to Trump. So even if he was dishonest, I don't think he'd try to protect Trump now. At least, it wouldn't make any sense at all.

It's a sad day in American politics when you have to clarify WHICH indictment against a former President you are talking about.

A legal podcast I listen to said "I know that she is on the other side and I don't agree with her much but if it weren't for Liz Cheney and the 1/6 committee we might not have this indictment against Trump"
