Thanks for the reply. Is that your guess? Or what the Church taught? I would think a Christian would want to know the context of a book that is the foundation of their belief. But I find most Catholics are clueless and cannot engage in a conversation about the Bible. I don't want to be rude but why call yourself a Christian when you do not appear to be immersed in something as important and personal as your relationship with your God? I left the Catholic Church to look for answers. I found many of them at a Baptist Church and through many friends who are well versed in the Bible. I personally find the Bible fascinating. I wish I could read it in the original Hebrew edition.

 

Catholics or what I like to call the Roman Imperial Church do not base the foundation of their belief in the Bible. Catholics believe in the Bible plus tradition. The tradition trumps the Bible. In fact, for most "Christian" denominations, this is true.

Im 1984 there were 700,000 Arabs in Greater Israel and today there are just 7,000,000. That has to be the worst "genocide" ever. To compare many of Arab states had hundreds of thousands of Jews in 1948 but today many have less than a dozen. So who committed genocide again?

My guess. I find myself less and less inclined to listen to the human-organized Church, and more and more inclined to develop a personal relationship with my Creator and his Son that is not codified by flawed humans who wrote a book thousands of years ago. I guess in this sense you could call me an ex-Catholic (but I'm still Christian). I feel that the answers to existential and moral questions in today's world and the rapport with the Divine are hard to find in a book written by tribesmen that espoused a fair amount of superstitions and misunderstandings; I tend to be skeptical about a lot of what is written there. I understand that this is not your take at all. I see that for you the Bible is a divine text. For me it is a human text. I respect your view but I don't share it.
