It sounds just like the script that Putin read to Carlson.

The Russian line, full of misleading claims, false representations, giant omissions.

Trump would not stop aid to the Ukraine. He would however try to negotiate a peaceful settlement.

Funny because Lew Rockwell had nothing to do with the column I posted.

Stop believing state controlled media and shut off the ****ing TV.

Carlson clearly knows who Putin is. Everyone knows that he is a monster. Carlson along with a great many others including myself were curious just what Putin would say when asked why he invaded Ukraine. He gave us a history lecture whose accuracy I have no idea of and could care less. I hope Carlson interviews Madura of Venezuela, the ayatollah/mullahs of Iran, Xi of the Chinese Communist Party, a Hamas leader, a Hezbollah leader, Kim Jung-Un, etc. All of these people are pure evil but I am interested in how they justify what they do. Carlson doesn't have to focus on contentious issues. Everyone knows what they are.

....that awkward moment when the guy in charge of the 'de-Nazification' campaign justifies the behaviour od the nazis & effectively admits he is following Hitler's playbook.

Of course, none of this is news to anyone paying attention, but it is worth keeping this stuff in mind every time you read a Putin apologist. Either they know they are re-running Nazi justifications for invading other nations or they don't. Neither recommends them as an information source.

The former is probably worse because they means they know - but don't care. At least in the latter case they have the excuse of ignorance.

It might be better in some moral calculation, but it means the same for them as a source of information or opinion - they are worthless. Whether or not they are a worthless source of information and opinion AND they are amoral is a related but different issue.

Any overt, fact based analysis by someone even partially familiar with history and current world affairs is going to conclude that both are worthless. The problem? History and geopolitics aren't exactly 'in' topics for most citizens of the the western world.

I don't follow you, on the one hand you say that you'd like to hear how they justify what they do....
and then you say you are not interested in what Putin says because you are not interested in History?
indeed the "accuracy" of the historical context is predicated on the interpretations of the items of fact one chooses to take and how one chooses to use them...Putin chooses certain bits of information and then tries to weave them into a narrative which he uses as a validation of his actions. In order to try and understand Putin you need to listen to what he says about what he thinks of the historical matrix within which he views Russia. You have to read the 5000 word essay he wrote contextualising the invasion of Ukraine against that of Putin's narrative he has constructed as an historical claim on Ukraine. The underlying tone all the way through Carlson's platform was Putin's view that Russia is the historical victim, that Russia has no agency and Putin needing to seek validation from the West.

Indeed that's correct but people need to understand that, for example in this case with Putin, just giving a two hour platform to someone who is basically the head of a crime syndicate and who is running a belligerent country requires a very health amount of understanding of who and what they are listening to. Under no circumstances do you take anything said by Putin in that program at face value.

The errors of U.S. policies over the decades are immense. They do not in any way, however, justify Putin.

There is no justification for what they do. They in some cases pervert history to attempt to justify the evil that they do. I am not interested in reading a 5000 word essay because I already know the answer - Putin like all dictatorial sociopaths is only interested in increasing his power base. Russia's invasion of Georgia, Crimea, and Ukraine make absolutely no sense to anyone but Putin.

In general, humanity seems to refuse to integrate the advances our prodigious sciences have produced. Our knowledge of physics, linguistics, neurology and psychology should have delivered us from our folly. Instead, we continue to bathe in it.

I finally listened to the whole interview and ultimately I think it was a waste of time. Carlson at least asked the right questions but Putin filibustered then all with long essays on the history of the region. Not a total surprise since that is usually the content of Putin's speeches on the issue.

    Can not recommend.

Putin and Trump want Ukraine to throw down its arms and surrender. Both have made that clear.

Trump has used various excuses to threaten foreign aid all through his (thankfully) brief political career.

American natural gas isn’t closed. Trump will do nothing (as he usually does). Putin will resume selling gas to Europe, which is what he wants, and what Trump will roll over for.

When has Trump stated that he wants Ukraine to surrender?

Trump questions all foreign aid as should every person in the government. With regards to Ukraine there was no Russian military action against Ukraine at the time.

Trump will expand natural gas production as he has done when he was President. And he will offer again to supply Europe with sufficient LNG to eliminate Europe's dependence on Russian LNG.

Could you source where Trump said he wanted Ukraine to throw down it's arms and surrender?

Lol. Russia isn’t my enemy. Why do you accept the establishment’s lies that Russia is our enemy?

Just a few years ago the establishment was singing Putin praises. Can’t you see the propaganda?

    SHUT OFF THE TV!
