Given tonight's SOTU which Biden just recently finished, given the caliber of his performance, there is no way in hell you can objectively make that claim. Biden rose to the task and hit it out of the park. There is absolutely way someone with cognitive decline/dementia, etc., could have performed as well as Biden performed tonight. It was intense, forceful, well articulated, he hit all the right points, and scored a massive 4 point home run. He might have made a couple of stumbles, but they were slight, fleeting, hardly noticeable compared to the entirety of the speech.

The right is a making major mistake by backing Trump, who IS in clear cognitive decline, talks like a moron, I swear, to me he sounds like he's losing his marbles -- talks mostly about himself, whines incessantly -- is a perpetual victim, has a negative world view and is a bloviating ball of sniveling drivel and his 'make America Great Again slogan is a tired trope -- I mean, it's growing fungus it's so stale. I really cannot comprehend what it is that the right sees in Trump as he is a sad sack from the top down.

I'm sorry, but this 'dementia Biden' narrative is now dead.

You can keep harping on it, keep trying, but it's not going to work.

Especially now that Trump is increasingly becoming unglued.

I am looking forward to a Biden trump debate, with trumps last few rallies looking like he was having micro strokes we might be in for a show.

If the red hat has the balls to do it of course.

well Senile Joe didn't crap himself, he only had 37 or so mumbles, he got the name of Layken Riley wrong, and he did every thing possible to belie any claim that he is a uniter, so I guess to his hard core fan club, it was a home run. something about a guy claiming how great America is under his watch while appearing to be angry and shouting is a real disconnect.

He raised his voice to get past all of the cheering...when the cheering eases off he speaks normally.

That depends on future performance. Not on a well rehearsed read speech.

To the same people who believe in the Russia hoax, the insurrection that never was, and crime, inflation, and the invasion of America aren't really happening, why would this stupidity be a surprise?

Nah, both of the leading choices for president in the fall are declining mentally and we're all fired up to vote for one or the other, seemingly oblivious to the fact that no matter which of the two we're electing, we're also electing dementia and reduced mental capacity. Yay for us!

Now make sure you get out there and vote, the other side wants to destroy America and only you can stop it!

Wishful thinking. He looked like a shell of a man drugged up and prepped. I doubt one American is fooled into thinking this man is up for the job.

Many speak as if this is the hardest job in the world, taking immense talent, etc. But I have never seen any reason to think that. The President actually does very little.

And reading or saying a well rehearsed speech doesn't mean he doesn't have any signs of dementia. It does mean be isn't completely gone, at least.

The president as a leader, does have a huge responsibility and power in our government. This president simply isn't in power---shadow people are.

Yes. It's others who come up with all the ideas and make all the decisions. The President just signs off on some things. The only hard part is probably handling the stress of knowing horrible things you can do little about.

People give presidents way too much credit/blame for things they had nothing to do with. It rained today and a bird pooped on me! Thanks Obama/Bush/Trump/Biden!

When a President comes into power--dramatic changes can be made. It happened with Obama, Trump and the Biden Administration (not Biden lol) --just look at the policies that are taken away and put in place just by executive action and leadership---such as the border situation. Negotiating with leaders, building alliances is huge. Whether it be in the middle east, neighboring countries like Mexico etc---the president is a powerful force. The president has the power to send forces to fight, or occupy other countries--even without a declaration of war. The President surrounds himself with an administration and he is the leader in the room and they follow the president's lead---not supposed to be the other way around....where the President is led around by the unelected administration.

I disagree with you--a President isn't in place just to sign papers and can control the direction of the country.

Yeah, so says mr glass is half full.

You forget to consider the fact that a person with dementia could not have rehearsed and performed on national TV as successfully as he did last night. In the late 90s, I was a caregiver in a home for the mentally disabled, among whom were several dementia patients, and there is no way in hell anyone of them could have done what Biden did, let alone walk out the door and not get lost or even remember who their daughters or sons were when they came to visit.

I swear, Republicans are like jackals on a feeding frenzy, hoping, grasping, for any morsel of negativity they can use against Biden to reelect the most criminal, corrupt, fraudulent, sex abusive candidate for the presidency; it is mind boggling to witness what is happening on the the right, the transformation of the conservative movement and it's descent into the cesspool of Trumpism.

And fyi, anybody that doesn't rehearse a speech, one that the entire world will be watching, is a fool.

    Check mate.

There was no hoax, but we did learn that Trump was, and still is, a Putin Puppet.
    1. Three judges ruled that it was an insurrection.
    2. All of the Supreme Court Colorado judges did not contest the findings of the lower court that Trump committed insurrection.
    3. Not one of the Supreme Court Justices of the United States reversed the findings of fact by the lower court that Trump engaged in insurrection.

Therefore, that Trump engaged in insurrection is a fact.
    Hate crimes spiked under Trump
was world wide, caused by the pandemic, and you can't blame that on anyone.
    1. Right wing hyperbole.
    2. No president in history has ever solved the border problem
    3. Trump's border policies were motivated by xenophobia and bigotry, they were cruel and inhumane, and, as such, his border stats cannot be relied on.
What isn't a surprise is the right's propensity to think in simplistic one word terms, rely on thought terminating cliches, and when the world beckons for nuance, in depth understanding, etc., these are all beyond the scope of your average right winger.

    Moving on....

Ahh, the usual assortment of strawman arguments and twistings of facts by someone from the group who wants to elect Trump, con man extraordinaire.

    1. In what way? When?
    2. What was the evidence of drug use?
    3. What is the relevance of this question? How was he different in the 90s?

I heard the "drugged up" excuse for Biden not fullfilling the RW dream of a senile speech already a few times. Now, my question: Which medications temporarily provide relief from dementia symptoms and forgetfulness? Please be specific.
