This is great news for Bobby Jindal. After Katie Britt's piece, he no longer holds the title for "Most Ridiculous Post-SU Rebuttal Speech".
I would like to know how they "jacked him up". He was an angry old man. He acknowledged Laken's killer was ILLEGAL but doesn't explain why he insists on letting them in and never removes them.
Trump is _still_ raging on Truth Social. He's at over 75 posts now, and still going. He's clearly losing his mind. The funniest part? He's calling Biden "angry". Someone needs to take the phone away from grandpa Trump, and lead him off to bed. Maybe hang a BigMac in front of his nose, in place of a carrot.
That is like saying that eating a lot does not cause obesity, but not exercising does. Everyone knows that laziness and gluttony together cause obesity. Cutting taxes while spending more cause the national debt to rise. When Republicans have the power to do so they cut taxes for the rich and raise military spending, even when the United States is at peace.
In Mein Kampf Adolf Hitler argued that one should not evaluate a political message by the effect it has on one’s own self, but by the effect it has on its chosen audience. He also claimed that for most people feelings matter more than facts With this in mind, I will try to evaluate President Biden’s State of the Union Speech. I may be more able to do this than many people because I agree with GOP on its most popular issues, which are its stands on crime, race, and immigration. I agree with the Democrats on progressive taxation and legal abortion. These are strong issues for the Democrats. On several occasions I have demonstrated that most Americans would like a more progressive tax system than the one we have. According to Gallup, 51% of Americans want abortion to be legal under some circumstances, 34% want abortion to be legal under all circumstances. Only 13% want abortion to be illegal under all circumstances. https://news.gallup.com/poll/1576/abortion.aspx Nevertheless, many Republican politicians favor an absolute ban on abortion, so I think Biden was correct in stating his support for legal abortion. He seemed to be spending too much time stating his support for IVF. I had to go to the internet to learn that IVF stands for “in vitro fertilization." I doubt that is a salient issue for most Americans. On the issue of race, Americans oppose racial reparations by 68% to 30%. https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2022/11/28/black-and-white-americans-are-far-apart-in-their-views-of-reparations-for-slavery/ On the issue of affirmative action in university admissions, Americans favor the recent Supreme Court decision by 68% to 32%. Even most blacks favor it by 52% by 48%. https://news.gallup.com/poll/548528/post-affirmative-action-views-admissions-differ-race.aspx On the issue of crime, Americans favor capital punishment for murder by 53% to 44%. https://news.gallup.com/poll/1606/death-penalty.aspx 32% of Americans think prison sentences are too short. 28% think they are too long. https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2021/12/06/u-s-public-divided-over-whether-people-convicted-of-crimes-spend-too-much-or-too-little-time-in-prison/ 41% of Americans want immigration to be reduced. 26% want more immigrants. https://news.gallup.com/poll/1660/immigration.aspx On the issues of crime, race, and immigration a Democrat politician who wants to appeal to a national audience needs to tread lightly. I think Biden did that in his speech. “WASHINGTON, D.C. -- While still negative overall, Gallup’s Economic Confidence Index has improved each of the past two months to its highest point in two years, reflecting improved views of both current economic conditions and the economy’s direction. However, a steady majority of Americans continue to say recent price increases have created financial hardship for them. WASHINGTON, D.C. -- While still negative overall, Gallup’s Economic Confidence Index has improved each of the past two months to its highest point in two years, reflecting improved views of both current economic conditions and the economy’s direction. However, a steady majority of Americans continue to say recent price increases have created financial hardship for them.” https://news.gallup.com/poll/609221/economic-mood-improves-inflation-vexing-americans.aspx I will wait for fact checkers to judge the accuracy of Biden’s assertions about good economic numbers. If his assertions are accurate, and if things keep improving. the economy should be a strong issue for him in November. (After writing this ^ it seems that stumbler has already done this in his comment #21, and that Biden's assertions are largely accurate.) Biden needed to tread lightly on the war in Gaza, because Democrats are more likely to support the Palestinians than Israel. https://news.gallup.com/poll/472070/democrats-sympathies-middle-east-shift-palestinians.aspx I think Biden did this, combining his long time support for Israel with his belief that the Israeli Defense Force has over reacted in its response to the recent Hamas attack. I disagree with Biden’s support for a two state solution in the conflict between Israel and Palestine. Nevertheless, I liked the speech. It reaffirmed my decision to vote for him in November. I agree with Hitler that what matters is what most people thought and felt about Biden’s State of the Union Speech. “A 56% majority of Americans who watched President Biden’s State of the Union address say that his economic policies will move the US in the right direction, according to a CNN Poll of speech watchers conducted by SSRS, with 44% saying that his policies will move things in the wrong direction. “That’s an improvement from a survey conducted in the days before the speech, when 55% of those same people said Biden’s economic proposals would move things in the wrong direction.” https://www.cnn.com/politics/live-news/state-of-the-union-biden-03-07-24/h_4d388b01a4a6239270d4135e558d4bdf#:~:text=A 56% majority of Americans, things in the wrong direction.
Whether you like it or not it is absolutely relevant. Unless you voiced your displeasure about Nancy's little stunt at the time...... Don't you think it would be hypocritical to take issue with Marge? And this applies to everyone who seemingly has taken exception to Marge's behavior now, but didn't seem to have any issues except clapping for Nancy... Apologies in advance if this does not apply to you.... But it's for everyone who the shoe fits upon
That's because they have been brainwashed in college and aren't old enough to know that the Democrat Party regards them as "oppressors" who have achieved success because of "White Privilege." I saw the light when I was 30.
Democrats are typically very fond of white uniforms. At least they didn't bring the pointy hats. Yes I'm aware of their virtue signaling reasons.... It also helps to identify the clapping seals
It appears as though Trump is living rent free in his head. He did manage to push independents towards Trump.
I'm aware of the fairy tale revisionism. Remind us who are the ones who fondly eulogized the former Grand dragon senator bird? Or maybe he was exalted Cyclops or whatever the hell it was...
My keen eyesight and experience help me to read faces. Great when playing poker with friends. Yes, Johnson was subtle, but the Old Master picked up on his signals and I liked 'em
The SOTU speech really doesn't matter much does it? When you get right down to it, the election will depend on two things: whether people's lives are better now than under Trump, whether they have more disposable income, the price of gas, whether they can afford to buy a car, a house, go out to eat once in a while, etc. AND how afraid people are...about a terrorist attack, about the crime in their neighborhoods, about their children being called to go to war. These are the things people care about and will drive their vote.
You think that bill would fix the border problem? How quaint. That bill was a Ukraine aid bill that just happened to toss a few BILLION at ILLEGAL MIGRANTS. Did you see the immigration bill the house passed? The one brandon promises to veto?
Other than lefties pulling primary ballots to vote against Trump to satisfy their Orange Man Bad complex, he is winning the real independent votes in a general election. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna140740
It certainly was inappropriate to turn the SOTU speech into a hostile campaign event. He can campaign any other time. This speech is supposed to be focused on common ground. It's a time to come together. His speech was very divisive to say the least. And the old fart had no class speaking to the SCOTUS like he did.
The delusion of "brainwashing" began during the Korean War because Communists tried to indoctrinate prisoners of war. Nevertheless, at the end of the Korean war the vast majority of South Korean prisoners returned to South Korea. The vast majority of American prisoners returned to the United States. On the other hand, a large minority of North Korean prisoners choose to remain in South Korea. A large minority of prisoners from Communist China choose to move to Formosa. Those with the intelligence to get graduate degrees have the intelligence to do their own thinking, and they do. If you want something similar to brainwashing. talk to the poorly educate people Trump pretends to love, and ask them when was the last time they read a book in its entirety. Those people are so stupid that they believe Trump's lies and let Trump do their thinking for them.
Please explain how cutting taxes does not lead to budget deficits. The only time I am aware of when tax cuts happened at the same time the national debt declined was the 1920's. During that time the military budget was cut too.
