1--I saw an angry, shouting grandpa lecturing the world. 2--I didn't see Biden fumble, lose his thought, or mumble. 3--I didn't like that he kept referring to "my predecessor". 4--Speaker Mike Johnson's facial expressions were a good "fact checker".
1--I thought that Biden was able to change his intonation in a controlled manner. When the audience got riled up with enthusiasm he raised his voice enthusiastically. 2--Biden seemed pretty energetic and clear. 3--I guess Trump doesn't really count as a President. 4--never bothered to look at Johnson, but I hear he has many faces
I thought that the country really really needed an injection of optimism, after the hideous negatively of Trump. It'll be interesting to see the effect of the border changes when they are implemented. I would like to hear more about how they are going to get the court cases from many years down to a few weeks. I think that would make a huge difference. I actually think this administration can turn things around if they can get immigration under control and increased taxes diligently, used China's temporary lull to re-establish US manufacturing, especially that which is essential to national security.
1--Not the dementia-ridden fool that Republicans were hoping for (or, expecting, based on RW media propaganda) 2--Typical exaggerations of policy successes that are par for the course for a SOTU speech 3--Outsmarted Republicans several times, for example with the Laken Riley moment that he was fully prepared for and threw back at them 4--Republicans failing to applaud his pledge to be president for ALL Americans, and his positive outlook for the future was notable. I guess they like Trump's dystopian worldview better.
The Laken Riley part was pure disrespect. He had that pin ready just to "shut people up" and then said something like "yeah? she was killed by an ILLEGAL, it isn't like 1000s are". That was mad disrespectful! Energy wise, he did better than I thought though. It was nice to hear the country destroying policies with some vigor this time around!
Did you see any shots of the camera from way above and to the right of Johnson? He was actually clapping below the table a lot! I must say, I was frickin' surprised.
I think it's unfortunate this.......... has lead to this.......... Just another way Repubs have degraded civility.
I didn't even know the SOTU was las night. I never it, regardless of who POTUS is. W after 9/11 was the last one for me. I have no patience for the ubiquitous political laundry lists, nevermind the asinine staged kabuki - "Here's Joe from Evanston Ilinois. Joe went to the hospital with tonsilitis. His right arm was accidentally amputated and then reattached. Now Joe is suffering from genital warts. Here's how we're going to help Joe and the millions like him." Meh.
Disrespect? What was disrespectful was MTG and cohorts using Riley's death for a political stunt during the SOTU and to get MTG's face on TV.
She was a white girl with a bright future and the killer was a diverse illegal invader, of course the Democrats can't even pretend to give a damn.
He was given that pin when he entered by Marjorie Taylor Green. I do agree there was disrespect there.
1. He showed no signs of being mentally deficient 2. His speech was intended to solidify his base and reassure them where he stands issues which I think it did. 3. He indicated that this will be a nasty campaign and he will answer fire with fire.
He was fully prepared !!! -- He called her Lincoln Riley. He said she was killed by an "illegal". Illegal what? It was an illegal alien, Joe, say it !!! Laken Riley's parents were invited to the SOTU speech but declined. Good for them. Why listen to the man who's policies killed your daughter.
Did you not know what he meant when he referred to a person as an "illegal"? Really? My lord...smfh...hahaha Quite frankly I'm surprised he referred to the piece of crap as an "illegal". They usually say "undocumented".
Holding MTG to the same standard as our President? Hmmm, sounds like you have pretty low expectations of him then.
And I particularly liked his back and forth with republicans. It wasn't on a teleprompter and it wasn't rehearsed. That shows me that his brain is just fine. He's looking frail, but there's still fire in the furnace!
I agree. However, I heard a bland litany of soundbites, made up stats, and made up self accreditation -- a big HO-HUM.
