I couldn't agree more with this. It also helps reduce violent crime.

BUT!!! The available education paid for by the government (aka taxpayer) should not be for everything under the sun.

1st off students should not have to take worthless classes that have nothing to do with the degree that they are trying to attain. Only classes they should have to take are those which are directly related to the degree they are trying to obtain. This is partly responsible for the high tuition costs.

2nd the only thing that government should be paying for are those which are in STEM and are directly related to mental health services. If you want to take a class in something like humanities or even historical type classes then you pay for it out of your own pocket.

3rd start promoting trade skill jobs. HVAC, plumbing, masonry etc etc. College is not the only course one can take in life to succeed in life.

 

Reference #3. Yes people should have to work a job, join the military etc. to pay for their college if they don't have the money. You kjnow, take a little responsibility for life instead of holding their hand out demanding free stuff. And of course you can donate whateever amount of your personal money to what ever college you want to give it to to demonstrate your support of education. But my observation is liberals support things like education with other peoples money, not their own money.

 

We have handed out 3.75 Trillion since WWII.

The current system discourages the less well-off from pursuing higher education.

In Canada, Norway or France, even a poor person can study up to doctorate level without worrying about a loan that will take more than 20 years to repay.

That's why these countries have better-educated populations than the US.
