Would you say this is a left-wing, right-wing or neutral forum? As a newbie, I'm rather curious what everyone thinks. I have to say, I am severely under-impressed by the amount of intelligent thought that seems to have gone into most of the recent posts on the discussion board. Maybe things get better in the morning?
Oh, there are lots of Right wingers posting like mad, but the forum management is fairly even-handed in its use of power in censoring posts and policies.
The right wing Americans are countered by the left wing non-Americans. I'd say it's a pretty even mix, although it leaves moderates feeling a bit outnumbered.
Maybe I looked in the wrong forums, but when I posted this poll, most of the threads I had read weren't exactly bursting with deep thought. For example, claiming the Lunar Landing was a hoax, that male circumcision should be criminal, and that Congress is bowing down to Jews, or something along those lines.
Not sure how much intelligence you did expect when signing on, since everyone is welcome to speak his/her mind, not only some choice elite. Its what makes not only America great, but is also welcoming to people from around the globe, the fact that everyone is encouraged to give his/her opinion, regardless of background, schooling and status. Its a discussion forum, and posts vary, left and/or right, even middle of the road, depending on how engaged the crowd is at any given time and subject at hand. Most of us are passionate about various subjects, some are more polite than others, and our mods are fair to all.
I find PF to be: 60% intellectually stimulating/challenging 30% regurgitated gristle 9% flat out crazy but still fun to read 1% yell WTF at your screen as you loose faith in all humanity I truly enjoy my time on PF and if you claim to be an intellectual, you probably will too.
BAsed on participation in polls and general observations, I'd guestimate this board is about 2/3 conservative, including about 25% libertarian within that.
This is a (deleted for flaming) forum run by (word banned) (cannot say by rules definitions). There are plenty of (word banned) who regularly make an (donkey) of themselves. And there are plenty of (banned word) who are (elephant dung) also. There is much to be said and plenty of time to unsay what was just said. Once in a while something profound is said that makes sense. Most of the time, not. Which is why I LOVE this place.
I voted neutral, and I'm "right wing"... at least by the estimation of an upside down world. I'm a Libertarian and an advocate of freedom, and as such, a decided minority. I find it sad, that advocating freedom is considered "extreme". That said, I agree with Submarinepainter, that there are more Libertarians represented in here than there are in society. Really, we don't have many places to turn for discussion or information that isn't grating to the ear. The left completely dominates all of societies institutions... the world's impending economic collapse is evidence enough of that. It's terribly sad for everyone - even if the left understand the damage they're doing.
It wasn't the left that slashed taxes and decided we needed to spend more than the rest of the world on defense and start unnecessary wars that ran up trillions in debt.
I think it's more neutral than right wing, but I think the right is much more prone to insult than the left. For instance, I reported a post, and then some other guy got the idea that the left reports posts they don't like.
Sure it is... statism is left wing regardless of party. You're so blinded by the "he said/she said" con game that you never see that you support one side of the welfare/warfare state, and the "republicans" support the other, both are building the power of the state though - and they're working together to do it. Republicans aren't "right wing", they're statists, same as the Democrats, and same as you. To be sure, there is a small percentage of the Republican Party that has Libertarian leanings, but they have no real voice - and that's true of a small percentage of the democrats as well. In the end, the statists dominate both parties; the Republicans consolidate domestic socialist gains made by the dems, and the Democrats reciprocate by continuing imperialist policies usually started by the Republicans. Although, they seamlessly change hats when necessary. Both sides blather up a storm about the evils of the others advances in the con game, but in the end, that's all it is, blather. If you're locked into one side of the con or the other, you're going to keep playing the game - and defending it. For those of us on the outside looking in, the con is pretty easy to see once you look for, and recongnize the pattern. Obama is determined to defy Constitutional law and says he has every right to keep bombing Libya - hello!!! lol... Obama, Mr. Civil Liberties??? Republicans defenders of freedom??? Patriot Act??? - hello!!! lol... Both he and Bush, either winked and nodded (Bush), or effusively gushed (Obama) at the stealing of literally $trillions for their Wall Street, Corporate buddies, Big Banking masters, and foreign central banks - both sides turn an obtuse eye of indifference to the Fed - an institution that many Americans regard as nothing short of criminal and treasonous - you would think more would catch on to the con??? And yet, you see what you want to see - for you it is simple black and white - Democrats good, Republicans bad. Four legs good, two legs bad. Four legs good, two legs better. All animals are equal - but some animals are more equal than other!!! Nepoleon never had it this easy
I think the majority of people here will say they don't consider themselves right or left wing, but I think the forum is right-leaning.
Well, I would say this forum has more right wing posters than left wing. If you look, most have joined since Obama took office. Hate and anger are great motivators. However, I would say while the right wing has a large quantity of posts, most are childish, Obama sucks type posts without any thought or reason. There is a lot of right wingers here who somehow think that republicans always ran a balanced budget and always had low unemployment and every problem and the entire national debt all started on Jan 20 2009. However, if you wade through the volumes of mindless drivel, you will find some facts buried in there and I know that I have learned a few things. Most re-enforced my opinions and some changed my opinions.
I would say it is definitely right wing simply due to the fact it is overcrowded with right wing nutters.
Thank you, Sir. We certainly try to be. I would say that the forum membership is fairly neutral by American standards, which is somewhat to the right of the rest of the world.
I would say that there are many non-Americans that are moderate. The problem is that in America there are many people that is far right.
It's by far a right-wing forum; the only reason people say it's not is because they're Americans, who are center-right....
I love how not a single person considers this a left-wing forum... at least that's obvious. But there are a lot of Zionist zealots...
