This is bit of a sticky wicket. IS there a God. Whose version of his manifestation is THE God? The Bible are ideas of jewish and Christian version of God.

Gays want churches to let them in. No, DEMAND admittance when their behavior is Spelled out as forbidden...yet a lot of behaviors spelled out people routinely "miss the mark".
Sodomy is a sin( actually Sin is a newer concept not spoken of, his version was more not hitting the mark of your potential) so is Infidelity, lying, coveting thy neighbors goods and Wife, not keeping the Sabbath..So while Gays do Sin, why exclude them from words meant to reform and heal a soul...I am not so sure jesus would have done that...Yet I am Noone to speak for God...there are plenty others willing to do just that.

Isn't it funny how even the most ignorant people who maybe cracked the Bible open once in their life seem to know what it basically teaches and will tell you the Bible basically teaches this and that. Having no knowledge of Scripture, they throw in their lot with those of us who read it regularly as if they are on equal ground. Of course, you and I know that understanding the Bible is utterly impossible to understand the Bible unless one has an intimate relationship with the Author, because "the message of the cross is foolishness to those that perish" ( 1Cor 1:18 ). To them, Jesus was a pot smoking hippie that got along with everyone, never had a cross word to say, and probably had a dalliance with Mary Magdolene. They don't know the truth because they don't love the truth, for Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.

JUST LIKE THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN EVOLUTION - HERE WE GO...

Look Jackson... Do you even KNOW your Bible? I really dislike people who are religious (inlcuding evolution) and know know their Bible.

I already know you will not answer my last question and probably not this one. You just read from the OT. You are not Jewish though. You believe in Jesus!

I suggest you stop now and think of WHY Jesus came? Then after that - why did he die and what did that symbolize for you?

Now... Do you think Jesus died on the Cross for nothing? Because what I read was he died for everyones sins. Now, if we have the "choice" not to sin and only the "non" sinners will make it into Heaven, wouldn't that make the whole Jesus thing and what he went through meaningless?

If I were a religious Christian, I would take that straight blasphemy!!!

I have read the New Testament many times and I still can't find where Jesus condemns homosexuals or homosexuality

Now adultery- Jesus is very, very clear that adultery is a sin. So if you want to lump homosexuals with everyone else who has sex outside of marriage, I can at least accept that you are being consistant. Of course the OP was only concerned with homosexuals.

Jesus also condemns divorce- because divorce would make the divorced woman an adulterer. So I can also see condemning divorce.

But I don't get the focus on homosexuality. Assuming that Jesus was god- and was omniscient- if he was as strongly opposed to adultery as you are- wouldn't he have condemned it- like he did adultery and divorce?

Being a non Christian, you are completely ignorant of the place Jesus has in the Bible which certainly isn't confined to his life on earth. Like a lawyer, you take the gospels and try to see how it supports your predrawn conclusion. You don't know the Christ I know who is part of the eternal, triune godhead, from everlasting to everlasting the same.

    1. I know and understand because I'm Christian that Jesus is the very same God that gave the death penalty law to Noah and then again to Moses.

    2. I know and understand because I'm a Christian that not everything Jesus taught was recorded in the four synoptic gospels.

    3. I know and understand because I'm a Christian that the apostles taught as they were taught by Jesus, reaffirming the sinful nature of homosexuality in Jude and Romans chapter 1.

    4. I know and understand because I'm a Christian that Jesus championed the true and ideal definition of marriage, saying a man shall leave his mother and father and cleave to his wife.

Because you are not a Christian, you can read the New Testament 20 times more and never understand it. Until you give your heart to Christ, experience forgiveness for every sin you've ever committed, and receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, the Bible will continue to baffle you.

Excuse me…. But, you need to realize that the poster is absolutely right and you never addressed his question ,but insisted on saying he was ignorant. Jesus (the parts in red) only appeared in the NT not the OT. Thus, the posted stated that Jesus – himself – never stated that homosexuality was a sin. He did a lot of other things BUT NOT HOMOSEXUALITY!!

This statement is absolutely correct. This has nothing to do with your faith or how close anyone is to God and the Trilogy. It has to do with the truth of the Bible. Thus, per Jesus, Homosexuals will be in Heaven… Unless you can find different, then you’ll be shacked up with Richard Simmons sweating to the oldies!

You do believe that Jesus died for your sins correct…?

Wow! Not only do you fluently speak all the languages these manuscripts were written in, you also have knowledge on where to find the original ones that are believed to be lost!
You should quickly hand them over to biblical scholars, they'll be delighted!

Incredible, you really think you're scoring points against Quantrill but you're actually making yourself look foolish. Quantrill is right. We have today over 10,700 manuscripts from which emerges the autograph. More than at any other time in history, we are able to confirm with confidence what the Bible actually says based on the consensus of all the materials we now have access to.

Samuel Clemens is right. It's better that people think you're a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

No, the poster is absolutely wrong, and so are you.

    And you think he's brilliant.

Because everyone already knew it was a sin, even the hypocritical pharisees. You're making your argument by ommission. That's why I'm calling you ignorant.

You mean Trinity and it has everything to do with faith. Without a personal relationship with the author of the Bible, it's impossible to understand the Bible. As Jesus said, "Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do." (Jn 8:33,34) If you haven't become a child of God through Christ Jesus, you are of your father the devil by default.

Actually the burden of proof is on you since you are arguing from absence. Don't kid yourself. The apostles were well aware of what Jesus taught and reaffirmed the eternal perdition of unrepented homosexuals:

    1 Corinthians 6
9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither
fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,[a] nor sodomites,
10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

I'm going to work now. In the meantime you might want to educate yourself or myself. If you can locate all the original manuscripts of all the bible's scriptures that would be sensational news that must somehow have passed me by. When I still studied theology nobody knew where they are and if they still exist. Gosh, the work that I could have spared if they had had them by then!

Have a great day at work. I'm sure you're entirely uneducable. In the first century, they lacked the technology for parchments and ink that would last for 2000 years. An educated person might understand this.

God is the real villain of the Bible. A busybody and a staunch opponent of property rights, real happiness, and individualism to the very end. Ugh.

Don’t think anyone is brilliant, and at the same time thing everyone is brilliant…

Then I call you ignorant because that is NOT how it works… Before in the OT there was a lot of things that God said that Jesus said different. Do you want a list? If you need one, you do know how that will make you look as people are reading this… I suggest you don’t and know that one could whip one up in a heartbeat.

Well, just to let you know – what did God say about an “eye for an eye”? Then tell us what Jesus stated for and “eye for an eye”? So, the question still remains – what did Jesus say about homosexuality? Did you not say that he would die for peoples sins and that no person is without sin and thus he will be sacrificed?

I do mean Trinity – fingers you know – can’t control them at times… But, I know what the Bible says… That has nothing to do with homosexuality. If Jesus didn’t want Richard Simmons in Heaven – he would have made it so by saying such. But, he didn’t… That’s just plain and simple… No looking into whatever – it’s all there in black and white…

Ummm – no I don’t… and you shouldn’t either. If Jesus didn’t say it in “red” I am not going to “assume” that is what he wanted from me in this life or the next. Again – the burden is on the proof that you provide. We already provided that Jesus never stated he was against homosexuality – you said he said that…. Which he did not! Thus, why do you “assume” that he was against homosexuals when he never stated that? Did Jesus make a mistake? Did God make a mistake and not put that in correctly?

Again – why did Jesus die on the cross? Is homosexuality a sin? Didn’t he die for ALL sins of man? Or do you think that homosexuality has a “VOID” sticker on it? As I stated – there will be homosexuals in Heaven, along with thieves, crack heads, murderers… And with you with all your sins… What is your sin? Lust? Arrogance? You have to have one – and that sin is NO DIFFERENT than homosexuality in God’s Word that he gave to us and guess what – Jesus stamped and approved on what changed and what did not change!! And everything in the OT changed because of Jesus.

Do you not know your Bible?

I'll bet you couldn't. Jesus said in Matthew 5 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven."

Clearly you can't see the fallacy in your own thinking so I'll point it out for you. Eye for an eye was a system for how justice was to be carried out in the OT, it had no bearing on the issue of right and wrong. On the issue of homosexuality, God calls it an abomination not once but several times. An abomination is a hateful thing. In the hierarchy of sin it falls just short of blasphemy. God isn't clammish that he should hate something in the Old Testament but love it in the New Testament. Moral laws, things pertaining to right and wrong, have not changed in the New Covenant. There is no comparison of this to "eye for an eye".

I don't know how Richard Simmons will be judged. I hope he won't be sweating to something else in eternity.

No it isn't. In any rhetorical exchange, the burden of proof falls on the party arguing from absence. This etiquette has been most infuriating to atheists.

Actually Jesus did teach against homosexuality, as seen in the teachings of his apostles. How do you not understand that the gospels ARE NOT AN EXHAUSTIVE ACCOUNT OF ALL JESUS TAUGHT?

Don't be silly. Homosexuality is as forgiveable as any sin. But it must be confessed and forsaken.

There will be everyone in heaven who has sought forgiveness and repentence from their sins. As St. Paul says, "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life." (Romans 6:1-4)

Better than you by a long shot. You embarass yourself by your rank ignorance. I've been fluid in the holy Scriptures demonstrating my complete understanding of the relationship between the Old and New Covenants and the immutability and eternal nature of the moral law. Right and wrong will always be right and wrong regardless of whether or not we eat shellfish and wear blended fabrics.

In this thread, you have repeatedly stated your position, but you have not yet supported it.
I don't think you ever will, and my scripture verses have made mine. I'm done with this circle jerk.

Matt. 5:17-18 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, Tilll heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law till all be fulfilled.

Lev. 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with makind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

Jesus looked at the Old Testament as the Word of God. Every comma and period. Which means He agreed fully with Lev. 18:22
