With the other line of lies you were perpetrating. Without copy and paste documentation, you have been exposed as the liar you are and I won't respond to that bs anymore.

As to this though, you may want to read something from someone more educated than you are. Bart was a devout follower for decades, and did his seminary at some very conservative institutions. He is the Chair of the Religious Studies Department at the U. of North Carolina and has written many books on the subject of Bible history and origins. He reads the original languages and is internationally known for his scholarship.
In short, he knows more than you and I do about the subject.
The real question is, why would you fear reading his work? How is knowledge the enemy? Is your faith that weak, that you fear what you might learn?
Knowledge is not the enemy. Fear is.

Of course I won't, because despite your obvious desire to play the pedagogue, it is just as obvious that WRT the issue at hand, you have nothing to teach yours truly.

Boy to hear you talk about Bart Ehrman, you'd think he's associated with the Jesus Seminar.

    Oh, wait. He is!

Please. You gave up because you couldn't get anywhere with your 'former christian' lies. I don't care if you don't respond anymore. But don't claim Im lying when you could not prove your point by the Scriptures. And I did.

So what. He sits in a chair in a religious department. Means nothing to me, but that he can sway more people in his false beliefs. Scholarship? They even call people who attack the Bible, 'scholars'. Again, means nothing to me.

I don't fear reading his work. I don't waste my time reading his work. There is nothing he has that I could learn. Nothing. The enemy is not knowledge. The enemy is lies.

This is not really the point I was trying to make. Before all of this happened, copies were being made by hand by unskilled people, and mistakes were made and changes, both intentional and accidental, were passed on to future generations who made more copies and more errors. Hundreds of years of such human imperfection and meddling occurred, long before translations compounded the issue a hundred fold.

How can one identify the enemy if one is ignorant of what they have to say?
    Fear.

Does this one-liner undermine his scholarship in some way?
You may come to different conclusions, but his data is still something that requires reconciliation. He is far more learned than any of us on the subject, and his decades of research are worthy of investigation.
Have you read him, or have you been told not to?

Many of these are not translations but paraphrases. And many are just trying to put a popular title to one of the common versions such as King James or New American Standard or the New Intenational Version.

Because I know the truth. I don't need to know all about the lie to know the truth. Because I know the truth, I recognize the lie when it comes. And it always comes.

There are fundamental differences between the three versions you have selected. They are not interchangeable, and not even based on the same base documentation. Much of the source material for the NIV was not even discovered at the time of the KJV. The NIV pulled from much older manuscripts and used hundreds of scholars to determine its translation, as opposed to more recent documentation and a single translator to create the KJV.

Perhaps that is why people of Bible times knew the truth and thought that the world was flat, or the sun rose and set. They hadn't been taught the lies we operate under now. They, too, knew the truth, and had no need to expose themselves to the devil's work.
    Fear.

I believe you have your NIV and KJV backwards.

The Bible doesn't say the earth is flat.

Every news station tonight will give you the time of the sunrise and sunset. You would think they knew better by now. I wonder why they do that? Possibly because its the way we see it here on earth.

    Possibly God knew that also.

Today it is a figure of speech.
    Then it was accepted truth.
We learned better and moved forward.
Many have done the same with scripture.
    Others have not.
    So be it.

There was no single translator for the KJV.

Wait, do you mean you think King James was the actual translator?

BS. You say it now because how else would you say it? Idiotic statement.

Sorry. Of course I didn't think KJ translated it. 47 scholars all from the Church of England. All using documents that were seen as quite modern by the time the NIV was assembled by hundreds of diverse scholars.
My bad, but my point stands.

But that's not why they said it, is it? They said it because they thought it was true, but as history unfolded and science evolved, we learned otherwise, didn't we? Why?
Because we did not fear the truth. We embraced new knowledge and marched bravely forward. Even the churches teachings evolved to incorporate what they could no longer deny.
    This process continues today.
There are always those that lag behind.

Well, you say the NIV has source material, but no translation has source material as there are no original autographs in existance.

Some older portions of Scripture have been found that lend to greater accuracy. But the King James Version is still an excellent translation. And the few areas of disagreement are known. And they do nothing to change any doctrine of the Bible.

Again, the Bible never said the earth was flat. But people talked about the sunset then just like they do today. Yes, we know more scientifically. So what. It doesn't change the way you say it.

It doesnt change the way God wrote it as He wrote for man. God knows all about His creation but wasn't interested in telling you all about it, other than that He did it.

Sorry. Your use of the word 'evolution' in the progression of knowledge does not mean there is 'evolution' that science is trying to sell. Or, are you just wanting to change the subject to your real faith.

All translations work from source material. The fact that they are not original autographs does not make them not source material. What a silly thing to say.
At least you aren't one of the "KJV" only crazies. I'll grant you that, and you admit that the older sources do have differences from the newer, proving the impact that copying had over the years. One can only guess what changes occurred before we got the oldest copies we have.
    One will perhaps never know.

They believed the sun rose and set. That is why the sun was stopped in the sky! Remember that story? But that isn't what happened, is it? The people of bible times didn't know that, but we do, because we were not afraid to learn new things.
You are irrationally triggered by the use of the word "evolution", like a Pavlovian dog.

Well, the point is not what any one of the manuscripts say but comparrison is made of these with all other existing material in whatever form its found. And comparrison with these overall gives a Bible of which there is some 99% agreement. And those areas where there are variations in the manuscripts, as I said earlier, do not change any doctrine.

The copying over the years was tremendously accurate. And you need not worry that what we have is what was given by God because Jesus Christ accepted and quoted from the Old Testament existant in His day. Giving His approval that what was given by God is what we have.

No, we know. The Bible is the Word of God.
