http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/15/cnn-poll-62-want-all-or-most-abortions-made-illegal/ "shows 62% of Americans want all or most abortions made illegal" Yes abortion promoters, that is right. Your lies are exposed. Most Amercans find your infatuation with slaughter appauling!!!! http://www.discerningcitizen.org/po...americans-want-all-or-most-abortions-illegal/ "I truly believe that it’s only a matter of time before abortion is largely outlawed in the United States and around the world. And as with slavery and segregation (and maybe global warming?), those in the Democratic Party will once again be the ones clinging to a dying issue and refusing to change with the times." "What is truly remarkable about this poll is that young people are the most firmly against abortion, despite often being very liberal (or maybe just uninformed?)" The truth! "However, with a large percentage of Americans opposing abortions except in cases such as taking of the life of the mother, or cases of rape or incest — both of which, combined, constitute less than two percent of all abortions in the nation, according to the Guttmacher Institute — most Americans truly want 100% of 98 percent of the 1.2 million abortions a year made illegal."
One more: "By age, Americans also oppose abortions with 59 percent of people aged 18-34, 58 percent of those 35-54 and 64 percent of those over the age of 55 saying all or almost all abortions should become illegal"
I believe that what happens is as people move further away from their college years and get exposed to reality and truth, they see abortion for what it is and are thankful that their mommy didn't abort them, and want to offer the same chance to other babies.
The latest CNN poll results about abortion: Legal under any circumstances 25% Legal under certain circumstances 53% Illegal in all circumstances 21% No opinion 1% Whaler, I think you should retract your post. Now we know lifenews.com is an unreliable source. http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2011/images/09/15/rel15e.pdf
Cady your post indicates that 75% want abortion illegal in some circumstances like Whaler originally stated. You know 100% - 25% = 75%. That's more than the 62% Whaler stated not less.
"Certain circumstances" does not equal "most circumstances," so that claim is totally misleading. Using your logic, pro-choicers could use the same data to claim "78% of Americans want abortion legal in all or most cases."
You seem to not understand the difference between "some circumstances" and "most abortions" although they are radically different.
By his results, only 21% of Americans want abortion illegal in ALL circumstances. Those who want it legal in certain circumstances only cannot be lumped in with those who want ALL abortions banned. Most Americans support abortion in some form. That is a FACT.
On page 4 in the pdf, it shows that 41 percent say abortion should be legal under few circumstances and that 12 percent say abortion should be legal under most circumstances. Look at the page more carefully. That being said, the lifenews source is a biased source and creates some ambiguities, including acknowledging Planned Parenthood as "the nation's biggest abortion business" although Planned Parenthood is a NONPROFIT organization. More importantly, claiming abortion should be illegal because 62 percent of the population thinks abortion should be illegal is an argumentum ad populum. As such, there is no logical support for the illegality of abortion here.
So what? I, and most anti abortion posters here, support abortion to SAVE a life. We only oppose it being used solely to snuff out a life.
There is ambiguity in the poll itself because "a few circumstances" and "most circumstances" could be interpreted differently by different people. How many circumstances are there? Every person polled would have a different idea. Some might think "legal in a few circumstances" would include life of the woman, rape, and incest. But what other circumstances are there? The answer to the poll question would depend on what one considers the other circumstances are and how many there are. The fallacy promoted by lifenews is that "legal in few circumstances" equals "opposition to most abortions." The majority of Americans support abortion in the first trimester. One could support abortion in only that one circumstance, but since 88% of abortions occur in the first trimester, that one circumstance would account for the vast majority of abortions. The poll question was ambiguous, but the interpretation of it to promote the pro-life view was dishonest. Numerous polls have shown that the majority of Americans do not want Roe v. Wade overturned. Furthermore, the OP title is blatantly dishonest by any interpretation.

This OP stating the truth has you and your ilk all shaken up. GOOD, I thought it might!!! The truth is not on the abortion promoters' side!!!
Cady, I don't know about "a few circumstances" versus "most circumstances" being too ambiguous an idea. I would think that "a few circumstances" would probably mean that abortion should be legal only for a few cases such as rape, incest, etc. and that "most circumstances" would probably mean that abortion should be legal only for the first trimester when most abortions are performed. Then again, someone being asked by a pollster may interpret those categorizations differently from mine, so I could see where the ambiguity comes into play. BUT STILL, I can't say I agree... However, I do agree about poor interpretation of the statistic by lifenews and other sources for the other reason. First, I do think there is a difference between "supporting abortion" and "supporting the legality of abortion", and most people probably do not think about that distinction when answering whether they think abortion should be legal. As a result, the data is more mixed up than it should be. You only need to look at the failure of the personhood initiative in Mississippi to see that, or see that most Americans do not want to see Roe overturned. A lot of people believing X is true doesn't mean that X is true. For TRUTH'S sake, it is a useless argument.
MISSISSIPPI is representative of the entire nation BUUUAHAHAHAHAHAH Now that is idiotic. Why wouldn't the state with the most out of control teenage pregnancy rate in the nation oppose limits on abortion?
I wouldn't believe anything CNN pushes, and they are a purchased leftist media outlet. So, Dems are looking for salvation on a sinking ship, and voila....their lapdog CNN foists some numbers that are sure to get women, voting women, all fired up. Generally, the populace is waking up to the fact that killing an unborn for convienence is a horrible, horrible statement about themselves and society.
Don't you guys find it odd that none of this type of polls ask the really important question? Why not ask the simple ones like 'Should elective abortion in the first trimester be made illegal? Would that not give a better gauge of how the nation feels about abortion?
Ah the expected usual drivel. Why can't you address the points intelligently for once? Here are some facts for you. Mississippi was not the only place where the personhood idiocy was defeated. it was defeated EVERYWHERE it was attempted. While Mississippi has the highest teen pregnancy rate it does not nearly have the highest teen abortion rate, so your statement remains just ignorant and and baseless as usual.
you can keep telling yourself that but it is NOT the case. The thing i find most heartening is that the young people, young women in particular are opposed to killing of the unborn. "By age, Americans also oppose abortions — with 59 percent of people aged 18-34, 58 percent of those 35-54 and 64 percent of those over the age of 55 saying all or almost all abortions should become illegal. Younger Americans are most supportive of making all abortions illegal, with 24 percent of 18-34 year-olds saying so and 35 percent saying they want abortions legal only in a few circumstances." I've gotta say that your vehemence in promoting your so-called 'choice' ....well. I don't really want to think that your primary concern is the ghoulish interest in promoting the deaths of the innocent unborn over these women's 'right to murder' their own children. A fine line but a puzzling one.
If you are correct that more young women oppose abortion, there will be no need for criminalizing it. If young women oppose abortion, they simply won't choose to have one, right? Well, maybe not........... http://mypage.direct.ca/w/writer/anti-tales.html Abortion is a highly personal decision that many women are sure they'll never have to think about until they're suddenly faced with an unexpected pregnancy. But this can happen to anyone, including women who are strongly anti-choice. So what does an anti-choice woman do when she experiences an unwanted pregnancy herself? Often, she will grin and bear it, so to speak, but frequently, she opts for the solution she would deny to other women -- abortion.
America...the last place in the western world where abortion is still not accepted as a means of unwanted birth control. LOL...some of you have a religious reason for your opposition. I'n't that special. Your Gawd sides with the unborn before the lives of his living flock. Somehow...I doubt this... Some of you just don't like the idea of disposing of a fetus. OBVIOUSLY none of you have ever been raped or have a friend who has, and gotten preggo. Or you've never had a pregnancy that would have killed you or a close friend or family member. BULLY FOR YOU!!! If and when one of these circumstances comes to a theater near you...you'll change your tunes...
