This idiot was a president of a country .. Knocking off the wings - it is an epoch-making masterpiece. With a help of what,I wonder? Of a catapult? Anyone knows that the main weapon af any modern air defence are missiles, that there is no difference where a missile bursts - at the wing, at the fuselage or near the cabin - in any case the jet will be destroyed completely and it's fragments ,ie injurious factors give a little chance for the survival of a pilot. Averyone knows except Walensa.

Idiot as a Nobel Prize recipient and a president of the country....

    Any comments?

I wish my president had the balls to let us shoot down your pathtic aircraft. As for your whole "little chance for survival of the pilot" bit. Pilots survive the initial blast all the time. Just look at the pilot of that jet turkey shoot down. He survived perfectly fine, and then slowly parachuted into the loving arms of a few pissed off Turk men who, well, you know how that story ended ;). Good times good times.

Walesa is right....Russia only understands force and the spirit to fight back from its many victims. For the Polish people, images of Soviet tanks rumbling down their streets is a fresh and painful memory.

This is indeed not the wisest sentence. As a mass murderer as Yasser Arafat or a bizzar lobby organizations like the IPCC won it, its a theatre for infantile people who need heroes. I think Walensa played an important role in history. Many people tend to idealize famous persons in history who played an important role.

    Silly prize.

Yes. Nevertheless Poland/Europe and Russia must get along with each other. Not the best idea to shoot down Russian airplanes.

Russia will continue to provoke until they are opposed with force...otherwise they will never stop.

Walesa would might as well have said he would have started a war with Russia, since it would have been the same thing. If he's thinking of the Donald Cook though, and its encounter with the Russian jet in the Black Sea, I have news for him. Everything in the ship was disabled electronically, so there was no way they could have shot it down.

This of course bodes the question: How can he be so ignorant of Russia's capabilities? Is he the only one and if he isn't, why the ignorance?

What exactly do you mean by Russian provocation? Russia cyclically freaks out when the NATO tries to get very close to their borders (Ukraine, Georgia, etc.)

Once they started giving the Nobel Peace Prize to terrorists like Yasser Arafat, the award became irrelevant.

Provocations such as: military jet close encounters, near ramming of ships in International water, assaults on foreign diplomats, threats of nuclear attack or invasion, meddling in the affairs of neighbor nations, economic blackmail....etc.

Imagine the situation. You're sitting on the bus and read a newspaper. Around you is full of empty seats. And then I sit down next to you, get a gun and puts it to your head and telling you "don`t provoke me."

You've presented a hypothetical scenario which bears little relationship to any realistic situation....for the bus is full of independent nations, Russia attempts to abuse the passengers but they band together and pull out a gun for their common defense. The bus is stopped and the offender is thrown from the bus.

Of course I understood the allegory....but it was fantasy, built entirely on your primitive conception of the reality as you want to see it.

Maybe you came into our world from another reality. In this world, Russia has spent 5 billion $ on the coup d'etat in Mexico. Canada holds military exercises of Russia and China and fears of a US attack. And the whole territory of the United States, surrounded by Russian military bases. Or you elected and all we live in a matrix. In this case, your understanding of my allegory would make sense.

Still....I do not accept the premise of your allegory because you fail to mention all the pertinent facts....in that Russia is surrounded as a result of her aggressive actions and perceived threats by her closest neighbors.

Lech Walesa helped to collapse the Soviet Union with Polish Solidarity, that truly deserves a Nobel Prize.

That liberated the masses of Eastern Europe including Russians.

Millions of Russians were also killed by Soviet madness.

The word facts in your understanding, also has a wrong value.

You are right in that, and Walesa did deserve the prize. What he is saying now though is foolish and dangerous. The only way a plane could be shot down is if Russia is deceived and stabbed in the back the way it happened with Turkey. But Erdogan paid dearly for it and now is humbling himself to make amends. The costs to Turkey was astronomical.
