Yes some of my fav tools are the first two that you listed. Here in the mountains we do not need such a fine sniper rifle, all one needs is a AR-15, or a AK with iron sites or perhaps a red dot optic. Thats because anything over 100 yds is a rare shot. Most guys that hunt deer or bear here use a lever action .44 mag or 30/30 or 30/06. (I dont hunt animals...ha ha) I have a Bushmaster 'dissiaptor' but have put off getting a red dot optic. Knowing all I have are the iron sites keeps me praticing. Its all we need. Some like the AK, they are ok but crude. And the thing that really make us dangrous is that we will use them if provoked. In some dark hollows and little vils in these mountains forget about provoking, these hillbillys will shoot at you if you look like a fed. Yep I am a hillbilly...ha ha~

I do not believe he deserved to be fired...He spoke his mind as he saw it, with no ill intent. However the people that made a big deal of it had plenty of ill intent...
I remember it well, and the man meant no harm to anybody, very sad...It was not long after that he died, I believe that incident had much to do with his death...he was devastated..

Nice baby!!!! retired from hunting a few years back...hunted with an m14,m16 and a cut down thumper...68-70...also hunted with a Fn Fal 7.62 sometimes I had to use an ugly but reliable Heckler and Kock G-3 back in the late 70's....sometimes the hunter became the hunted so I retired...now let the young boys hunt.

Thanks! I grew to like the black rifles but that was not always the case! Hey you have good taste in firearms. I love the Fn Fal in 7.62. Yes I too have been hunted, its no fun, at least not to me. I would have been happy to have remained an REMF but new warm bodies were needed, thank god it was a temporary need! I lucked out and got my general issue M16 instead of what I wanted; an M14! I thought an M16 looked stupid, and those tiny pea shooting bullets! Heck I carried 2 45's, back then I could hump the extra weight even though my buddies thought I had lost my mind, I had, its called war eh? Legal murder... insanity. I never hunted (animals) after I got discharged. Too many memories..

I made a minor typo in the post above....

I meant to say I didn't luck out and get issued (the M16 instead of the M-14).... I am sure you are aware if you like to keep touch with military stuff like I do that in 72' Uncle Sam was switching to the beloved (by me) M-14 to the M-16. The rifle was not ready for prime time for several reasons, but I am sure you know the primary ten on the pucker factor problem was its jam at the worst possible moment tendency. The worst possible moment for a GI weapon to jam is any moment we could name! If you had told me that I would buy a high dollar variant of the M-16 back then I would of either laughed at you or worse. I both hated and feared that thing. As I said I only went out on one patrol! Still I heard the stories and had one with me most of the time. One more thing then I will shut my trap.. One huge improvement was the replacement for the M-79, and the LAW what was it the M-72 over the bazooka or what ever came before it… Sorry for reminiscing or bringing back memories, the bad ones anyway. I did have a lot of fun in the army.

When I got to the war in 68 we were issued the improved m16...we still only put 18 rounds in the 20 round clip....and kept it clean, never had a jam problem....Fired the bazooka once....when to familurize with the weapon...the only thing I can remember about the weapon was, never put you chin strap from your helmet on...and stay away from the rear of the weapon....don't worry about reminiscing... as I was told once at a vet center "it's
therapy" and your right the army was fun and a real adventure...oh by the way we had some laws....never had the chance to fire one....was to busy with the prc 25....you guessed it...hahahahaha RTO.

It's just a term to reference to any group that shares common beliefs. Thats how I use it. I use it to refer to liberals all the time on here.

There needs to be a gene for personality trait in order for it to be a flaw?

God bless you my friend, when I hear those words from a vet its instant nostalgia and like I am hearing an old friend speaking. I admire you for your service and hanging in there far longer than I. I know exactly what you mean by the adrenalin rush, and while I did not stay in service I nearly killed myself with motorcycles and the lifestyle that provided not quite the same rush, but enough to keep me from dying from boredom. I lasted about five years before I retired from the (so called outlaw) club, too many funerals and not enough parties.

Well I joined in early 72' and you have corrected a memory I have been think about all this time. Maybe I just thought I could be issued a M-14, but for some reason I was thinking all these years that the M-16 was being phased in when I joined, not way back in 63' *. What a brain fart! No wonder I didn't get an M14! Now that I think back on it I do remember my 16’ looking used ha ha…

    * Intro of M-16; operations in South Vietnam in 1963,[4] becoming the U.S. Military's standard service rifle of the Vietnam War by 1969,[5] replacing the M14 rifle in that role. The U.S. Army retained the M14 in CONUS, Europe, and South Korea until 1970. from Wiki

I guess another part of the reason was that even though I joined and requested combat engineer I was color blind and they gave me a choice clerk or cook! Man I was mad! I chose an administrative clerk, not to put you asleep with the series of and the turn of events I eventually ended up with a PsyOps MOS. Nothing spooky it was really just as boring as the Administrative Clerk.

No, but I find it interesting that there may be a genetic reason to predispose some to racism. As far as your cut and pastes go, yes I see all the Arab nations aligning themselves, which is natural. I hope they will not invade Israel. Hopefully the Arabs will give the Palestinian people a homeland which would alleviate a lot of political pressure and anti Israeli phobia in the Middle east. If these aligned nations think they are going to isolate Israel they are mistaken. She does not need them. I would be all for the USA getting back to their isolation roots as well, allowing the rest of the world to fend for themselves.

Actually, you dont know that. Racism is a world view, and world views are influenced by personalities, and personalities are influenced by genes. So yeah, some people might very well be predisposed towards racism. Even if only a little bit.

Yeah, it worked out so well for us in WW2.

It didn't matter whether a cook or grunt....you still wasn't safe...it seemed like we had mortars or rockets coming in at least once a week...and if you ever made it to Nha Trang it was a huge base right on the south china sea...if I ever win the lottory I'd love to go back and check it out....there was a big island about 1/2 mile out "Hon tre" island...and from what I've seen on the internet its now a big resort....when I joined in 1967 thats all we trained with was the M14....when I went to Fort Bragg in early 68 we were issued m16's...when my unit got to Ahn Khe I was put out on the green line and our tower had M60,2 M14's fully auto,claymores...and our 16's....every night at dfferent times we had what was called a mad minute....for one minute you could fire what ever weapon you had in the tower...it was pretty cool seeing all those tracers going out....especially when you did a few shotguns you know what I mean right....hahahaha....stoned talk to you later....

The problem with this guy is that he is spitting pseudo-science. So slaves were 'selectively bred' but White people weren't? Were white women back then for some reason NOT attracted to large athletic white dudes? C'mon man. And does he have any scientifically valid sources to legitimize his claim? People devised all manner of nonsensical 'justifications' for slavery. His line of thinking is the same line of thinking that allowed White people to ignore Black people's humanity. Seriously, somehow White people at one point in time collectively thought Black people were sub-human...let that sink in. Any reversion in thought back to that needs swift and complete correction.

In terms of genetics, again psuedo-science. Did you realize that Black and White men have more genetically in common than White men and White women?
If you were going to try to justify racism on the basis of genetics, you would have to justify sexism before you could justify racism.

Lastly, the society agreed to treat people equally. If you found substantial genetic differences, you would have to reframe the constitution to allow for mistreatment.
And what would that accomplish? How would that make anyone's life better?
