OMG. You just can't accept there are hungry kids.
You don't know much about public education.
Rent is part of the family budget.
If we follow your advice, we'll have a depression.
    Typical Trumper response. Gaslight.

No, I don't accept that there are hungry children in the US. I don't accept it a single bit.

Are you really claiming that public education teachers do see inside the homes of students to know when they miss meals? You could be right. Any documentation to support it?

If you want to start a different thread to talk about rent, please do. I'll gladly share my view on housing subsidies and what constitutes adequate shelter for the chil'ren.

The last depression was caused by stock speculation by banks. The coming depression will be caused by stock speculation by banks. History repeats itself. It's not the role of government to choose winners and losers in the marketplace. There is, or at least should be, no business too big to fail. If there are businesses too big to fail then why not business too small to fail? Why let any business fail? Welcome to the United Socialist States of America. We're there today.

By the way; I was a never Trumper. I agreed with Seth Meyers when he said, "I was surprised to hear Trump is running as a Republican because I just assumed he was running as a joke." Then, it was him or Hillary and that was no joke at all. I still didn't like Trump but I supported him for President.

But now? I love the guy. He's stumbled and blundered a few times because he's not a long-groomed, polished, politician, but he's been correct far, far, more than he's been wrong. He's spot on regarding Democrats, the fake news press, Pelosi, Biden - and the China Virus. His honesty is a breath of fresh air. I was a Ted Cruz supporter but I am not sure Cruz could have stood up to what Trump has been through.

    I noticed.
    I made my point.
No, it wasn't caused by stock peculation by banks.
Are you talking about businesses hurt because of COVID-19?
He hasn't helped the economy, so what has he done?
Tell that to the families of Americans killed by COVID-19.
Honesty? The guy lies about most everything.
What has Trump been through? Nothing. Why on earth would you feel sorry for the guy?

My local grocery store is collecting money donations to our food bank. It shows right up on the card terminal. No muss, no fuss.

Now is the time, for those who can, to help.

That's a great gimmick for the store. They collect a bunch of money and the TV cameras come showing them making this great food donation - at full retail charge to the donated money. They get great publicity and sales out of your donation.

According to everyone involved, including the grocery chains, there's plenty of food so I see no need to donate to a foodbank. Have WIC payments stopped? Have SNAP payments stopped? Has unemployment stopped? Has social security stopped?

What exactly has changed that I should give again to feed those who have already been given food resources from my tax dollars?

A lot of people have lost jobs. Surely you've noticed? I've yet to hear of any money getting to them.

If it turns out that the food banks end up with a surplus, it will eventually be put to use.

You think the bank is that safe ? Especially at a non existing interest . People don’t save because the rates are so low as is the minimum wage..

If you don't save money some where, then you are buying on credit and are living paycheck to paycheck. Your rain day account 8a not ment to be your retirement account. It is there so you have cash in an emergency.

Ah, this why people buy insurance instead. There is no way it’s feasible for anyone to save 1/2 years salary to do what, let someone else who invested the money and collect unemployment insurance ? Nope. As long as bank interest is so low, there is no incentive, none , nada.
The best insurance agaisnt recessions is, universal healthcare so lost imployment doesn’t mean lost insurance and vote for people who don’t lead us into perpetual recessions.

Well, he is a candidate for sainthood. It's been said by many experts that every person commits a felony and could be charged - yet, after 3 years, hundreds of very experienced investigators who hate Trump and want to destroy him, millions of dollars spent, constitutionally protected rights thrown out the window, and still, they couldn't find a single crime with which to charge him. Eve Mother Theresa couldn't have stood up to all of that. Yes, the man should definitely be sainted.

But, still, nothing in the post you quoted implied any sympathy, only understanding. You have to twist a lot to get sympathy out of that...

The old “ everyone does it” defense. No, few commit felonies, fake experts aside. It’s not a felony until you’ve been charged . So we know that excuse is isn’t working

What insurance can you buy to pay your rent? I have well over a 1/2 year salary in a bank. And I carry nothing on credit cards.

Everyone who has lost their job gets unemployment and, within a few weeks, full restoration for their lost salary.

Additionally, about 47%, last I heard, of Americans get SNAP and/or WIC. Those who don't earned enough money to keep food in the house. If they chose not to prepare for an emergency, financially or in food storage, missing a few meals will be a great lesson for them.

Interesting... Then there is no need for the government to take money from taxpayers and give it to those who didn't earn it.

I’ve NEVER known a working poor person who did not pay payroll taxes. You’re talking like poor people don’t work.
Geesus, during the last recession, 90% of those who lost their jobs and were middle class. They earned every cent of their unemployment checks and most, lost their medical insurance. The right blames the poor for everything, because they can’t fight back. Even though, it was the middle class who collected most the unemployment.
