I am not saying it is either ok or stupid to eat at McDonalds or out anywhere. All I am saying is that the calorie dense food at these places is cheaper than the healthy alternatives. I am not debating what should be a healthy diet, just that outside the home a unhealthy diet is cheaper than a healthy one.

well that is as true for white people as it is for black people though, I do agree with you though about what she may of meant, but her racial views are tainting her vision of reality, while she may be seeing something with some basic truth to it, her describing it has shown her racial views more then anything she may of been trying to describe

I think it was obvious by her writing

“For a person who needs to re-train their mind and think differently about healthy eating, that’s always gonna be their struggle; getting past, ‘This plate of food is for a white person,’” Gordon said."

she was told by a doctor she needs to eat healthier and that is how she defined her struggle

Well, I have to beg to differ there. I mainly mix with athlete types, and ALL of us/them eat very high carb diets, and none have an ounce of fat on us/them. It's all muscle.

When you have a normal (as in all day, every day) level of activity, carbs will never make you fat. You literally burn them up as soon as you've eaten them, so they never have a chance to 'turn bad'. Animal proteins, OTOH, sit around in your system for days.

plenty of 'skinny fat' high carb people out there with fatty livers and do not even know it, the oldest person to have lived was also a smoker... doesn't necessarily mean smoking was good for them

many runners think high carb is way to go, until it takes it's toll on the body

"High carb or high fat? The running diet debate"

    https://www.theguardian.com/lifeand...high-carb-or-high-fat-the-running-diet-debate

"Noakes was once an advocate of carb loading until personal experience made him question the wisdom of what he was preaching. A keen marathon and ultra-marathon runner, he was shocked to find he had developed type-2 diabetes."

"Noakes had reached the state where the body secretes such high levels of the hormone insulin in order to try to process all the sugars in the carbohydrate being consumed that it becomes resistant to it. Prolonged insulin resistance leads to an overload of the pancreatic cells which produce insulin, resulting in drastic cell death and diabetes."

could be some have evolved to process carbs better, but not everyone, just something to watch, as sometimes it's hard to tell until it gets bad, would be great if they came out with a at home insulin test

I should add, it's about healthy eating, that doesn't mean it's "white people food" ;)

Carbs are fine as long as they're complex, and we're active all day every day.

quantity matters too, as much so as quality, but yes, complex carbs are much better for you then simple carbs, too many carbs are bad for you

as an example, many people juice fruit and remove the fiber, may as well be drinking a sugary soda
