Just because we don’t have a pure democracy doesn’t mean democracy isn’t included in our system of representative democracy (Republic). Our elected leaders are supposed to advocate for their constituency . When they do otherwise it’s a failure in our system.

That many people were against it at the time. They were lied to. Nobody elected representatives who proposed laws to make whites a minority. The people never supported that goal, which is why they were lied to about it.
