The GOP isn't really a conservative party where it matters though. They are as out of control as the democrats. They just support different beneficiaries of their largess. I would rather see the libertarians as the other party that the GOP at this point. The republicans are just democrats in disguise.

Current GOP is not conservative, some will voice conservative opinions, but most follow along amicably with whatever Trump does, which is seldom if ever conservative.

The Democrats do however, perhaps not in total unification, follow their basic principle that the Government can and should address citizens needs. Be it Biden or AOC, they both lean in the same direction, separated only by degrees

There has always been a Libertarian Party, least in my State, but it hasn’t, not I think capable of, been anything but a fringe element. Pure Libertarianism isn’t possible, too dogmatic, Ron Paul’s Presidential success proves it, appeals to some, but no where near enough to make a difference

That is not totally true. The Democrats didn’t shut down the country, Covid shut down the country.

Americans weren’t anxious to get out there with a new virus, one spread thru social contact, with no vaccine available nor natural immunity. No matter how many times the then President said he had it under control and it was no worse than the common cold, Americans could see the reality around them

And if they hadn’t, the death numbers would have risen astronomically

And in reality, it's hardly a left or right thing, it's we the people consumed with ignorance and propaganda.. At what point did fighting with one another cure the cancer that is Washington?

We trash one another while the politicians we defend rob us blind, how stupid we as an electorate have become..

Except, all studies that came out since have confirmed: It wouldn't have made a difference. And the idea that the government mandates didn't shut down the country also doesn't hold true because we know they were using emergency acts to give it the cover of law, and the COVID payments, which ended up hyperinflating the country.

The idea that we as a society collectively made these decisions just doesn't hold true.

I do believe the so-called journalists have driven extremism in this country as much as the politicians. To have them reporting the election and crying while they announce the next President of the United States in 2016 is anything but journalism. And yes, I feel the same about Fox News. I just don't watch any of them due to their extremism.

I think most politicians genuinely want to improve the country (or state, or city etc.).
I think both parties generally put power above best interests of the country (or state or city etc.)
Put those two together, and most politicians put their party and re election prospects ahead of what is best for their constituents.
I also think this has gotten much worse in the last 20 years or so.
It’s unfortunate, and would be different with a genuine third party that would be a moderating influence.

I also know - since this started with trump - that he was the most unqualified POTUS the country has seen, certainly in living memory, and the most corrupt POTUS of all time. The only one who actively sought to undermine American democracy. Overall worst POTUS ever. And almost certain to be seen as such for hundreds of years.

My take away from that post is, you prefere a groomed or carrer politician. You're going to be hard pressed finding honesty in either businessman or the status quo..

    THIS ^

We saw the FOX News talking heads spewing literal lies and doing so for personal gain. THEN when the texts were released during the trial, they told you they were using you, and that they knew they were lying, but they wanted to make more money. They took your money and lied to you and then their minions still suck it up like Soylent Green

Yeah I didn’t think it sounded like you. But like so many others, you need to be sensitive to the need and proper used of quote marks and other punctuation to avoid such misunderstanding. Just sayin’.
