GOP Reps. mull legislation to protect presidents from politically motivated probes”

“Top House Republicans said in a letter Saturday that they're considering legislation to protect current and former presidents from politically motivated prosecutions in response to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's investigation into former President Trump.”

“Because the federal government has a compelling interest in protecting the physical safety of former or current Presidents, any decision to prosecute raises difficult questions concerning how to vindicate that interest in the context of a state or local criminal justice system," the letter states.”

"For these reasons and others, we believe that we now must consider whether Congress should take legislative action to protect former and/or current Presidents from politically motivated prosecutions by state and local officials, and if so, how those protections should be structured."

    https://www.axios.com/2023/03/25/tru...ns-legislation

Now who decides what cases are politically motivated and which cases aren’t? How many times are cases started against a politician not labeled as politically motivated by that politician’s advocates?

Dangerous territory here, and the irony is that other than Trump, no one else has said that Trump was going to be indicted. Yet since Trump uttered the claim his defenders have mobilized efforts to denigrate and burden any attempt to hold Trump responsible

Beginning to look like an orchestrated strategy designed at Maralago to shield Trump not from this NYC case but the more serious cases coming down the road

The (R)adical clown show continues. So it will do until the electorate shuts it down.

Given how Cathy Bank just handed over Biden's banking records proving that he and his family did get millions of dollars of payments from the communist Chinese... Biden might be personally interested in this. Especially since he lied and claimed it never happened.

Some people will fall for anything.

On the other hand, the Faux News-GOP propaganda machine is a formidable one.

Unfortunately for your dreams of totalitarian one party rule that is never going to happen.

Democrats are doing their best to usurp control of the legal system to weaponize it for political gain and make us look like a banana Republic

Political probes by opposition factions are a good thing -- so long as their is full due process.

You're repeating lies, pure and simple. Trump has clearly broken laws and if any AG, state or federal, chooses to move ahead with indictment, it will no doubt be justified. From there it will be up to judges and juries to determine whether the cases are justified, where again the Democrats have no influence. The crook is lying by claiming that investigations and potential indictments are politically motivated and using this lie to get suckers to send him money, because grifters gonna grift.

When I speak of the electorate shutting this down, I envision Republicans retaking control of their party from the trumpist minority, not a one-party system. As broken as our democracy is, it will likely never become a one-party system anyway. But it is so broken that we can never have even a third party until it is changed.

How do you determine that a probe is "politically motivated" or if it is legitimate?

That was quick with the but, but but “whataboutism,” always an attempt to deflect the thread

And outside of the right wing media, none of that has been proven. Yes checks exist, but for why and what, it is at this point 100% innuendo

You mean like the Orange Stain did to try and stay in office after he lost the election ? And previously obstructed justice multiple times by ordering staff
to ignore subpoenas and refuse to turn over documents ?

    Like that banana republic ?

I just want a straight answer out of you..... Do you now have a problem with administration officials ordering staff to ignore subpoenas?

It really is a simple yes or no question which will display if you have two sets of standards or one

No they won't because Saul alinsky is the one that directed The radical progressive liberal to blame others for that which they themselves are doing.

Do you have any other straw man you would like to insert here?

I actually think that this presidential immunity idea is a good one. Before we can turn the corner into a new era of presidential transparency, we have to protect them from prosecution. Think of all the things presidents keep hidden that would open up!

    KEY POINTS
    • Most U.S. adults believe former President Donald Trump has done something either illegal or unethical, a new poll found.
    • Most Americans also think the probes of Trump — which are ongoing at the local, state and federal levels — are fair, the poll results showed.
    • Trump is being investigated by the Manhattan district attorney, an Atlanta-area DA, the New York attorney general and the Department of Justice.

Most Americans are manipulated by the propaganda coming at them through social media television and radio.

And when you think about it the average amount of people you see on a daily basis are extremely stupid. They can hardly manage to drive and park a car much less form an opinion without their betters feeding them what information they need to see.

When you see stupidity in your daily world around you remember that a lot of people are even more stupid than what you would at first think.

So I don't really give much credit to some opinion poll about what people with no experience or expertise on the topic have to say.

And then if you can find someone that actually has the experience to speak on the topic try finding someone that's not clearly biased

Conservatives more susceptible to believing falsehoods
Study finds news environment hurts ability to find truth

Conservatives are less able to distinguish political truths from falsehoods than liberals, mainly because of a glut of right-leaning misinformation, a new national study conducted over six months shows.

Researchers found that liberals and conservatives in the United States both tended to believe claims that promoted their political views, but that this more often led conservatives to accept falsehoods while rejecting truths.

One of the main drivers of the findings appeared to be the American media and information environment.

So you actually believe that ignoring subpoenas is somehow unique to this administration?

Thank you for proving my point.

Your confirmation bias eats it up with no critical thinking about the "study" itself
