Trump literally tried to bypass the EC and install himself as an unelected autocrat. And one of the two parties stands behind his attempts to do so. Deal with the facts. You'll never be able to address these facts. You will continue trying to run away.

It's very difficult trying to have an adult conversation if you can't do better than calling names.

Well, if democrats would quit trying to take Trump out of the picture to bypass the will of the voters, then one of the two parties would no longer be taking democracy away. Why do you want to override democracy? Why do you want to suppress votes?

Trump tried to override democracy. Trump tried to suppress votes. That's the only reason anyone is even interested in seeing if there is a way to disqualify him from future elections (there isn't, even if he were convicted in thrown in prison). Why do you want to support his suppression? Why do you want to support his attempts to override democracy?

Well, we can settle this one fairly easy. All you have to say is:

Trump is not a low life.

    Republicans are not low lifes.

Most Republicans (at least those who aren't in office) are not low lifes. Trump is, emphatically, a low life.

Man, Trump left office! Biden won the election, Trump left office, Biden came into office. It doesn't get any simpler than that. But, we do know that the left are trying to take Trump out so that he can't run, bypassing voters, and democracy.

Trump's failure does not excuse his attempts. He tried to overthrow democracy. He tried to bypass voters and democracy. Yet he still remains the leader of one of our two major parties. You are incapable of honestly addressing this.

Do your homework, read my previous post, and maybe try to develop some kind of respect for our Constitution and our elections in the meantime. I know you won't, but I have to ask. Please feel free to tell us how much you prefer the taste of Trump's boot leather to the Constitution and to our democratic elections. Seems to be a recurring theme.

Do your homework and you'll answer your own questions... You have an unnatural hate for the man stuck in your head. There are some on here with the same unnatural hate for the man. Take a look around you at what the crime boss Joe Biden is pulling over your eyes...

I'm sorry you think that loving the Constitution and that loving democratic elections is "unnatural hate." But, hey, whatever it takes to keep licking the shoe leather of your preferred crime boss. I guess some Dear Leaders are more important than our country to these people.

Well, Dear Leader did lie to them and tell them this is "their" country.

You'll have to ignore this part to make that make sense though...

Everyone they hate (while exploiting and discarding them) should get the hell out of "their country" so they can sprawl on their stolen land, built by slave labor, harvested by illegal immigrants, technologically connected by East Indians and big box stocked from China.

While having conniption fits all across the country because people want our history to not be whitewashed. Somehow forcing ALL school kids to learn their history isn't hateful. Teaching them about all the people that contributed to building this nation is.

Oh, and, the biggie...racism doesn't exist unless they are excluded and we all should clutch our pearls to stand with them against that while they STILL don't acknowledge that teeny-tiny percentage of somebody else getting privilege still gives them 99.99998779% privilege in every part of their precious lives. I'd say empathy isn't really in their wheelhouse.

Part of the Constitutionally prescribed penalty for Insurrection is that one can never serve in any governmental office again. If he is convicted we are safe. I'll be satisfied with just that. He's an old man, there's no need to take his last years away.

They want to support his attempts to overthrow the US because they hate it and all it stands for. They always have, Republicans were never any great friends of democracy

You are providing opinion. As can I. I don't consider Dems to be 'low lives' either. But it doesn't make for much of an intelligent discussion.

I truly worry about folks like the liberals on here…. The hate for one man you have never met is an unnatural hate and you totally overlook the obvious problems going on around the country…. There is some on here claiming nothing is wrong with Joe when the whole world can see there is something definitely wrong with Joe….

Words can not express the depth of the irony in accusing Dems of bypassing the will of the voters after what Trump, et al, tried to do.

"The plan was simply this: We had over 100 congressman and senators on Capitol Hill to implement the sweep. We were going to challenge the results of the election in the six battleground states," Navarro said. Those included Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

"These were the places where we believe that if the votes were sent back to those battleground states and looked at again, there would be enough concern amongst the legislatures that most or all of those states would decertify the election," he continued.

The intention, then, was that "that would throw the election to the House of Representatives," Navarro said. "And I would say to you here, Ari, that all of this, again, was in the lanes legally. It was prescribed by the Constitution. There is a provision to go, rathe
r than through the Electoral College, to the House of Representatives. And all that's required was peace and calm on Capitol Hill."
    https://people.com/politics/ari-melber-peter-navarro-green-bay-sweep-2020-election-failed-coup/

Can you acknowledge this plan was an attempt to "bypass the will of the voters?" If you can't, or won't, you are not being intellectually honest.

This is indeed an odd, wrongheaded notion. It's the same twisted thought process leading to accusations like saying impeaching a prez is thwarting the will of the voters. Impeachment investigations/hearings and post presidency investigations, in both cases to establish findings on potential criminality/abuses of power, are constitutionally provided for ways to check presidential actions. No one in the Watergate era made such assertions because it is ludicrous. We must follow the facts no matter where they lead.

If only that were so. Because between the election and the inauguration Trump coerced election officials, started the Big Lie, had some states submit fake sets of electors, spoke of declaring Marshall law, pressured Pence in to rejecting legit EC votes, asked that election machines be confiscated by the military, and sent his mob to the Capital to stop Biden's certification.
