“One year old, US climate law is already turbocharging clean energy technology”

“On August 16, after the hottest June ever recorded and a scorching July, America’s long-sought response to climate change, the Inflation Reduction Act, turns one year old. In less than a year it has prompted investment in a massive buildout. Nearly 80 major clean energy manufacturing facilities have been announced, an investment equal to the previous seven years combined”

“It seems like every week there’s a new factory facility somewhere” being announced, said Jesse Jenkins, a professor at Princeton and leader of the REPEAT Project which has been deeply involved in analysis of the law.”

“We’ve been talking about bringing manufacturing jobs back to America for my entire life. We’re finally doing it, right? That’s pretty exciting,” he said.”

“The IRA is America’s most significant response to climate change, after decades of lobbying by oil, gas and coal interests stalled action, while carbon emissions climbed, creating a hotter, more dangerous world. It is designed to spur clean energy buildout on a scale that will bend the arc of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions. It also aims to build domestic supply chains to reverse China’s and other nations’ early domination of this vital sector.”

Like the Chip Act and Infrastructure Bill, another significant Biden achievement that largely passes under the radar of most people, even with recent events

Interesting how in today’s climate, what used to be Presidential accomplishments largely receives back page if any recognition. Instead, the media and politicians are focused on self serving character assassination and exploiting innuendo

Honestly Americans are more concerned with the negatives than trinket accomplishments applauded by state sponsor media.

Trinkets are what your former president stole from Israel...

    “trinket accomplishments?”

Few Administrations in history has accomplished so much in so little time as this Administration. This, the Chip Act, and especially the Infrastructure Bill are historical, and could transform America

Speaking of Israel, it seems like it's descending into civil war because Netanyahu, right wing extremists and religious fundamentalists are trying to rig the system and turn it from a democracy into an authoritarian dictatorship.
The parallels to the maga/trump movement are depressingly similar.
They are already plotting how to rig the system to perpetuate their control over our democratic institutions and corrupt them, and trump himself likes to grouse about how great it would be to be president for life like his dictator idols.
Letting them gain power again would be fatal for our country.

Combine it with higher taxes, higher costs, an unreliable energy grid that might not be available to charge your car or cook your food while not being allowed to have a portable generator on hand, etc, will absolutely turn next summer into a winter wonderland. I hear we'll be seeing polar bears in Florida pretty soon.

Then again, Biden doesn't seem to care as he helicopters home every weekend after working roughly 16 hour during the week and is followed by an entourage of SUVs where they meet up at his home with no solar panels.

They aren't pushing it because it's better. They're pushing it because they control it. Their lights will always come on.

Who funds the REPEAT project? Inquiring minds want to know. The probability seems high the REPEAT project is a manifestation of the self licking ice cream cone.

The Princeton ZERO lab? Sounds like a clue as to the funding source. lol

Obama and his wife used two large jets to fly from DC to CA on the same [explative] day. All of this cut back on energy stuff is for the little people. Ever notice how these climate conferences are always in places like Paris with haute cusine and high class prostitutes? It's like online conferences were never invented. lol

Perhaps that it was the bipartisan infrastructure bill and not The Big Guy Infrastructure Bill is the reason the press doesn't care so much.

Oh! Boo Hoo! A couple of people do the wrong thing and suddenly it is OK for everyone else in the world to act in the same way?

Total nonsense. Even if the "climate law" could actually do something it will take more than a year for anything significant to occur; the fact money is being spent proves nothing.

here's a chart of energy costs in different countries. The odd thing is there are a lot of charts to choose from and they all seem to vary quite a bit.

Did you google “Levelized costs”? Many forms of electricity generation have government subsidies attached ie coal

Just did a basic search for nuke energy costs. Every chart I looked at showed off shore wind having the highest cost and by a lot.
