I agree. The church should run the country.

Joe Biden and Ukraine? Exactly what the Republicans have found so far. Bupkis.

Seems we are back 20 yrs ago, when the evangelicals were at it with Bush Jr. Those yahoos even went so far as saying intelligent design theory belongs in the science class.

It is another example of their blatant hypocrisy when it comes to freedoms, only theirs counts.

Yes, but the decision isn’t beyond a reasonable doubt, it’s we think he did it. 51%. That’s all it takes. In a criminal trial it takes 100%. See the difference? See how it’s not the exact same thing at all and is two different standards?

    THIS!!!!!!!!
If all these religious people would behave like they talked, I would have more respect for them. The reality is that the Bible thumping Republicans are enormous hypocrites, and show it on a daily basis.

And that is not even the worst of his moral failings.

Yes, but what does this have to do with freedom from religion and the separation of church and state ?

No. But how will freedom of religion exist if the govt imposes it on you? That's why you must have separation of church and state.

I realize that at least half your posts are just trolling, but are you seriously asking that question?

The claim has been made that religion has been forced upon someone in this country. I'd like to see an example of late.

I can give you an example right now. Until fairly recently I couldn't buy beer at any store on Sunday, but now they've changed it twice, first time after 12 noon, then reduced it to 10am.
What about abortion laws, gay marriage laws, etc.? You don't think that's using religious basis for making laws?

Yes , there is, as a concept. This concept has been generally observed in US history since the Constitution was signed.

Theism and the penalty is not being able to do things simply because a theist finds it "immoral"

For example, same sex marriage...other than theistic reasons what possible reason is there to prohibit a same sex couple from getting a legal marriage?

That logic could be applied to gun control, or hate speech laws.

The poll was meaningless when it comes to enacting law or policy. Because that is now how our system works. It is not a popular vote system. It is not a straight democracy.

I have representatives that sometimes vote in alignment with my beliefs, sometimes not. I have to make the decision at the next election if I want them to continue to represent me.

There is zero responsibility of Representatives to conduct polls of their constituents nor vote in the legislature in alignment with any polls conducted. That isn't how it works.

It doesn't matter is my point.

Ok. Good. That's the one and only course of action available.

Even then, ones perspective and opinons is based on all of their life experiences and exposures. You can't expect people to compartmentalize certain belief systems. That's not possible.
