That was Nancy Pelosi's response to her staff bringing her a list of derogatory quotes Liz Cheney had said about Nancy. The staff apparently feeling she needed to be reminded of what Liz had said following Nancy's appointment of Liz to the 1/6 committee investigating the Orange Messiah's failed coup. The obvious point being made was the extreme political differences between the two needed to be set aside in light of the important work the committee would engage in. Work ultimately revealing the scope of the coup plot in granular detail.

Among the other events Cheney recounts in her new book are a constituent of hers calling Sidney Powell's deranged accusations about voter machine software designed by Hugo Chavez being corrupted, "clear-eyed and determined" and "very persuasive."

More about her constituents who she said were unaware of the 1/6 riot......."they read the Epoch Times, believed their social media feeds, and almost exclusively watched Faux, OAN, and Newsmax."

She writes a Repub staff memo written by a rules committee member a few days before the House voted on impeachment read......"President Trump's conduct was a serious act, political in nature, that corrupted or subverted the political process and threatened the order of political society."

Kevin McCarthy's chief counsel Machalagh Carr told now Speaker Mike Johnson that his court filing written to help Trump following 1/6 was "clearly unconstitutional" and that he knew it was. Cheney writes the assertion Johnson makes in his court filing in support of Trump's contention his failed coup had legal justification would present ethical questions related to Johnson's standing as an attorney. IOW, that he could be disbarred for presenting it.

Liz has added some details to what we already knew.
Many Trump supporters remain loyal to him due to disinformation from RWM.
The initial reaction by Repub leadership in the aftermath of 1/6 recognized, in internal docs and communications, how dangerous to democracy Trump had become.
People like Gym Jordan and Mike Johnson never wavered in their support of the MAGA god.

Cheney's book will change nothing. Just as revelations about Trump's autocratic plans for a second term have changed nothing. Just as reviewing the historical record of his corruption of the DoJ during his first term has changed nothing. But Liz Cheney keeps fighting anyway. Because what else can she do? What choice does she have for someone who understands the mortal threat to the country Trump represents? What choice does any of us who love the country have? We need to keep reciting the facts in the hope they can pierce the vapid stares of Trump supporters and shake them out of their blind devotion to a demagogue.

She mentioned during an interview I watched that she has supported, for the first time in her life, Dem congressional candidates over Repubs. Because she sees the rot in her party Trumpery has caused. Her work to stop Trump needs to be recognized as sincere. Now is not the time to berate her for being wrongheaded about everything else but Trump, IMO.

 

If she wants to EXPEL the Xtofascists from the GOP then good for her but it is a fools errand. A better way would be to start the NEW Republican party that EXCLUDES Xtofascists entirely. Granted that SPLITS the right but there simply is no way what remains of the GOP can ever be REHABILITATED.

I suppose it would seem that way to those who only see through partisan lenses. Liz Cheney represents the polar opposite of left leaners, but we acknowledge that she has put her political views aside when it comes to Trump. For that she gets top respect. Let's face it, most Republicans feel the very same way but are too caught up in the GOP machine to speak their minds.

 

There is actually historical precident for what you're ranting about. Although you in the far-Left radical Democrat faction may not realize it, right now our country is going through a period that is, in a number of significant ways, very reminscent of what Germany went through in the dying days of the Weimar Republic. I suggest you study Germany carefully from the end of WWI up to the period of the "Triumph of the Will" Germany experienced when Adolf Hitler became Chancellor in 1933. Pay particular attention to what many far-Left radical German COMMUNISTS did after Hitler took over! (Hint: many became the most dogmatically enthusiastic Nazis of them all!)

 

Her focus is to stop Trump by relentlessly pointing out the threat he poses. That is her chosen path. I support it.
