    Umm yes we can.

Who's going to stop us? The UN? Lol.

Russia? Why would they want war? Especially if we went against the EU? They'd side with us.

China? They starve to death without the US and SA. They're going to be pretty cozied up.

That's the thing about having trillions in military spending, it gives you that ability.

"If a majority of NATO member states vote in favour we will withdraw from NATO".

And that's the end of that.

Our Embassy ought to be located where the country declares it's capital city so we can be close to the action.

Suppose we told Australia they have the wrong city and pulled out our embassy and put it at say Perth?

This vote does not dictate where America will put its embassy. It is a vote of disapproval of the US decision to relocate its embassy to Jerusalem.

Maybe you think this is irrelevant, but it is a reflection of American influence in the world. Trump's attitude of "we will do what we want, and we don't care what the rest of the world thinks" might sound tough, but the corollary is that the world won't listen the next time America comes asking for help. Want to build a coalition to do something with North Korea? No-one will listen.
Problems with Iran? Good luck building support for sanctions.

Here is a list of America's true friends in the world - the countries that had America's back in this vote:
Micronesia, Nauru, Togo and Tonga, Palau, the Marshall Islands, Guatemala and Honduras

Trump is the architect of reducing American influence in the world.

Nations can refuse embassies if they like. Israel wants the US embassy in Jerusalem, I seriously doubt the USA would approve of what you suggest.

It's anyone other than the host country and embassy country who have no say whatsoever.

Diplomacy is always a two edged sword.

Trump is trying to kiss up to Netanyehu so hence this Jerusalem thing now.

Personally I would prefer Tel Aviv to Jerusalem any day.

In Tel Aviv you can swim in the Sea and it is warm water !!

In this case Israel can declare Jerusalem as their capital all they want. But there is a binding UN resolution that Jerusalem is a divided city and the whole aint part of Israel. Subsequently declaring the entire city as your capital is a violation of international law. Hence it's obvious you should never support that by saying the same, and place your embassy there.

And here we have it - the sum of American Foreign Policy
A bloviating narcissist, issueing stupid THREATS at the UN
Serving ONLY to damage US influence

Defying Trump, U.N. General Assembly Condemns U.S. Decree on Jerusalem
    https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/21/world/middleeast/trump-jerusalem-united-nations.html

    From the Article
UNITED NATIONS — A lopsided majority of United Nations members rebuked the United States on Thursday,
denouncing its decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and ignoring President Trump’s threats to
retaliate by cutting aid to countries voting against it.

In a collective act of defiance toward Washington, the United Nations General Assembly voted 128 to 9, with
35 abstentions, for a resolution demanding that the United States rescind its Dec. 6 declaration on Jerusalem,
    the contested holy city.

The resolution is nonbinding and therefore largely symbolic, but the vote indicated the extent to which the
Trump administration’s departure from a 50-year international consensus on Jerusalem’s status has unsettled
world politics and contributed to America’s diplomatic isolation.

It's all so stupid, this rabid Israeli partnership. Why should we harm our own nation in this way for Israel's sake? Why would we become advocates for where they establish their capital within their territory? It's an Israeli internal affair! And we sure shouldn't be taking sides in their religious pissing contest with the Muslim world nor their dispute with the Palestinian population, except of course to ensure that human rights are not violated by anyone involved.

Go to Palestine, tell them you're an American, and you're there to help them.

    See what happens next.

They do and should, actually. Should the US be forced to have a North Korean embassy where ever North Korea sees fit ?

It has everything to do with what you said.

If we were to put an Embassy in Palestine they'd try to kill any US citizen that entered.

They'd kill any pro-palestine westerner that entered unless they were politically protected, including you, and parade your dead body through the streets.

And yet Palestine considers Jerusalem their capital.
