K-12 leads up to university, which is Harvard. If Harvard wants admissions to be diverse in racial makeup and does not want to discriminate based on race to do it, then K-12 education investment, regardless of race is the only way I see to do that. I also agree that post-12 (university and college and trade school) we should continue to help all who need it and encourage all to be educated, and put no racial barriers in their way.

My understanding is that you also fund your schools based on local taxes. That isn't fair to people in poorer areas. I would fund it at the federal or at least the state level.

The racism that you have or the races that you have? If you mean that people complain because an area gets more funding because it needs it because the students there are poor, and they also happen to be mostly black, and people call that racism, then I agree with you that is wrong. But I add it is also wrong to call the underfunding of poor areas racism, and for the same reason. Poverty should not be equated to race, regardless of how many of this race or that race are poor.

Again, I caution confusing race for poverty. Doing so risks both excluding and alienating the low income individuals of races who have more high income individuals, who may then turn to racism against pepole who are other races.

But if you actually do have evidence of people having their voting rights hampered by race, by all means, scream it loud and for all to see and work the social taboo against racism to shut that down.

I don't think you're being "serious", either, when you continue to ignore the fact that since the Civil Rights Act of 1964, all American citizens are (and must be) EQUAL BEFORE THE LAW! That is the basis for the "level playing field" Americans put permanently in place, getting rid of segregation, "Jim Crow", and all the other injustices.

That was exactly what this nation needed to do, to make all of us the equal of everyone else. But that didn't mean that we should immediately follow that momentous change by adopting reverse-discrimination in the form of "affirmative action"! And, yes, many forms of this discrimination against anyone who isn't an American Negro are still is force in this country, in government small business contracts, in corporate hiring quotas, academic scholarships, etc. And now liberal "apologists" want to throw reparations out there, too? It's pandering, political nonsense!

You seem to like things to be simple, so I'll offer this: teach a man to walk with a crutch, and make him understand that he should use that crutch all his life, and guess what? Without the crutch, he'll always be convinced that he's been mistreated and cheated in life. But, teach all American citizens that there is no "crutch", and then we'll all be able to walk without one. But, where does that leave those who keep their power by peddling crutches? 8)

There is no reverse discrimination, only racial discrimination. And AA is simple straight forward discrimination against whoever it isn't for, usually including white people, asian people, and sometimes latino people.

Teaching a man to walk, usually requires using a crutch for a while, but not for al his life, no. I agree with your latter sentiment, but I also think crutches should be freely available to whoever does need them.

I missed the part that state we will be a Democracy care to cite it? I missed the part that states that the People will vote as a body on national issues and for national offices.

    Try Article IV Sec. 4

The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, .....

    Did you miss it?

If highlighted above were true, white males would be failing all over this country.
    It didn't happen.
At worst, one had to take a different job or different school. Never denied the opportunity to get a job or school as was the case with blacks and even women.

Again. The POINT I made was to another poster who claimed the USA was always about and founded on equality for all.
That statement I responded to was pure BS.

This country was nothing close to be equality for all. By that I mean, equal opportunity to try and achieve something.

I care less about what other countries did or do. I wasn't addressing them.

Hopefully after all the entitlement and coddling is removed, this **** stops.

    https://twitter.com/Essence/status/1676594602046812160

How absolutely disgraceful and disrespectful that she could bullshit herself into thinking that changing the lyrics of the song to fit some bullshit narrative when she, in fact, has been allowed to accumulate more than 12M net worth while being "oppressed"

And what's worse is there are followers of hers and beyond who think this was a great change...

    Absolutely disgusting.

The Supreme Court’s decision to effectively ban the consideration of race in college admissions reversed more than 40 years of precedent. It also left other kinds of admission preferences in place — ones that often benefit white students. For decades, the Court held that schools could consider race as one of many factors in the holistic review of an applicant, a consideration that could help foster diversity on campus.

The majority opinion laid out how it worked. Harvard’s final stage of deciding to admit or reject students is a step called the “lop,” in which four factors are evaluated: whether an applicant is a legacy, meaning an immediate family member went to Harvard; whether they were recruited as an athlete; whether they are eligible for financial aid; and their race. Race is now unconstitutional to consider, but other preferences remain.

One study found that these preferences give an edge to white applicants. Among white students admitted to Harvard, 43 percent received a preference for athletics, legacy status, being on the dean’s interest list, or for being the child of a faculty or staff member, and without those advantages, three-quarters would have been rejected.

    ??

Life is not all about the Benjamins.

    Right?

Our founders were wealthy, too. Yet they stood for something for which they risked their lives.

MLK Jr was wealthy. Yet he stood for something so strongly that it cost him his life.

Your idea that you can buy off racism is disgusting.

Her idea that she can change the national anthem to something deragatory, divisive and wrong is both arrogant, ignorant and disgusting.

Not everybody in the USA has your experiences.

Many have the experience of those strong words.

By the way, are you one of the Republicans pitching America as the greatest place on Earth?

Or, are you one of the ones who pitch America as a shithole?

I don't know why you think that would follow. I wrote it leads to illegal discrimination in all directions. And it does. When you push racial discrimination, against anyone, you encourage others to do more, against anyone.

And if you give approval to the base foundations of white supremacy (that race is important and it's ok to prejudge people on it), you make them harder to argue against.

because then the job creators in our meritocracy might hire a qualified applicant rather than their son in law.,

"Job creators" is such a silly propaganda term. Sounds like a communist make work gulag where "we pretend to work and they pretend to pay us". Also makes me wonder why people who call some companies in the west "job creators" don't call most others "job killers" when outsourcing overseas for cheap Labour or when automating.

oh no, penguin, you just do not understand economics. if the "job creators" (=repub donors) do not have an endless supply of cheap, preferably illegal labor, it will be all biden's fault that the economy collapses.

White males were never denied access to education. Jobs. Neighborhoods. Etc.

Your second sentence does not address what I wrote, so I don't think it is why you disagree, and if it is then it is irrational.

I disagree with your second sentence.
White males were never discriminated from anything. At worst, they needed to go to a different school or job. Or just wait for another opportunity.
They were never flat out denied any opportunities.

The bold doesn't equate. You can be discriminated against without having all of society flat out bar you from something. Most discrimination against minorities today is that.

    Sure.
But that's not what slavery, jim crow laws, segregation, redlining, etc, did to blacks.
