That's unreal. The Taliban can't run and can't hide from that. It's amazing how brutally efficent they were at tracking down every last straggler trying to hide. The Apaches were probably hovering like 2 miles away completely unknown to the Taliban.
Questions: Are there fabrics that thermal can't see through? Obviously if we are ever engage with a real threat, we won't want our guys to stick out like that. When they are looking at the large groups, why not hit them with the rockets and save the other ammo for the stragglers, vs the opposite? From a tax payer perspective. Also, when fighting our military, why don't people make donkey camo, with 2 to a uniform walking as 1?. They seem to be overlooked.
Donkey camo. Brilliant. Anyone see the little cones with circles on top? Those are their ovens for cooking bread which they stick to the side of the oven to cook.
They started out with 30mm because it's probably most effective at taking out people. Hellfire missiles are 68k a piece and are anti-armor missiles, not as effective as anti-personnel. Apaches also carry Hydra 70 rockets which I imagine would be quite effective against people. The Apaches, for whatever reason, may not have been armed with rockets on that mission. I'd imagine they're also a bit harder to aim than the other 2 options.....which makes them a little riskier in CAS ops. This is purely my speculation though, I'm not an attack helicopter expert.
