At least 20,000 people have marched in Istanbul to mark five years since the murder of prominent Turkish-Armenian journalist Hrant Dink.

    Hrant Dink Genocide? A'ight a'ight.

Oh also, I'm pleased to see such protests. Despite all the bull(*)(*)(*)(*) that says "Turks are racists", it proves otherwise and shows thousands of Turks are decent and sensetive enough to protest unjust assasination of an single Armenian by the slogan "We all are Hrants, we all are Armenians".

You could never see such a thing in Armenia to happen if same happened to a Turk, you can even expect an celebration.

I couldn't go hence can't take free time, it is far far away from my work. Last years i have been in this demonstrations before, at the weekends. My brother and my uncle were there this time...

Litwin, i agree with you for that it is not such an easy job in this country to be leftist/socialist,

Erdogan also agree that this court didn't go correct, however he is also the person didn't do anything to punish Polices who were aware of this murdering before and didn't do anything. He gave the awards instead of the punishment to Police chiefs who were aware of this event.

Here many people have problem of the slogan "We all are Hrants, we all are Armenians". They can't understand that people are protesting the sytem also over the murdering of the Hrant otherwise Hrant was not a well known journalist before he is murdered with a dirty organisation. On the other hand while Erdogan is very agressive to send the Generals and journalists to prison due to Ergenekon court he is very passive for this court, he beleives that this is a crime a child planed and did it. It is obvious that this is not a basic murdering, it has a gladio organization at the backround. And untill they will go over this and solve it, tousands of Turks will go on to be Armenian and Hrant...

Left and Right notions from west, In Turkey the situation is little bit different that sometimes a ''right'' party could use very leftist statements. Or a ''left'' party do inverse. We had the ''left'' parties showed ultranationalist aplications or inverse.

It is very often that many people in Turkey support privatizations in public on the other hand he could ask to go to hospital free or to have the education right free. Eerything is mixed here.

We have CHP here is a big dinasor have inside social democrats, fashists, seculars, liberals, ex generals, academicians... However they don't have a plan they can be leftist not to disturb the liberals, they can't be too liberal not to disturb social democrats, they can't be democratic not to disturb their fa(*)(*)(*)(*)s or ex generals. As summary CHP can't do a serious action on an mission.

On the otherhand the single man party AKP is doing around their single power Tayyip Erdogan. Turkish community mostly a conservative community, AKP use the secular identity as a gun and they charge all the system and all aplication failures to CHP, it is like this country never leaded by CHP alone for last 50 years. Last 50 years Right parties and leaders like Erdogan leaded this country, but the bill is always on the CHP.

As conculation CHP is like a cage for a leftist...

There are rea leftists however they are very few and very divided. There is a high state prelassure on left in Turkey. Also hence the PKK Turkish parents never want their children to be leftist. Untill Kurdish issue is not solved this country will not have real leftist parties and organisations. For many people still to be leftist means to be Ateist, to be terorist.
