If this year does not bring to light the problem then nothing will

teams who did the good work get left out

BSU- yes, they play in a sub conference but they deserve better

Arkansas- is it the player's fault that 2 SEC teams are in the championship? Is that any reason to get shafted?

why is UCLA even invited to any bowl game???

    Go Army, Beat Navy!!!

My guess is, Andrew Luck wins the Heisman. I think Mathieu could have pulled votes away from both Richardson & Griffin. I can't see either Ball or Mathieu winning it.

Mike Gundy, the OSU head coach said about Alabama - "They had their chance. Give us ours."

The only loss OSU suffered was to Iowa State, and that was in the aftermath of the plane crash involving the women's basketball team - so it's understandable IMHO that the team would be a little off that week.

Neither player from LSU or Bama will win the Heisman given that their teams are in the championship. There's too much political risk to give it to them.

    I like RG 3

How about a ten team playoff with the top eight teams having a bye week?

Teams #7 and 10 play each other, and teams #8 and 9 play each other, while everyone else is off. The next weekend - the winner of 7 vs 10 plays #1, the winner of 8 vs 9 plays #2, #3 plays #6, and #4 plays #5.

As it is for this season --

Boise State would play Wisconsin, and Kansas State would play South Carolina. The winner of the Boise State/Wisconsin game would play LSU, and the winner of the K-State/South Carolina game plays Alabama. Oklahoma State plays Arkansas, while Stanford would play Oregon.

Or we could have a playoff like NCAA men's basketball, and invite 64 football teams... :D

I don't know if that's true, but there is a political element to the Heisman.

You, I & others can dream on about a playoff, but the bowl games don't want nothing to do with it. Our best hope is for any kind of playoff is: Have the traditional conference tie ins with the bowls, end them by Jan.1, the computer picks the top 4 teams(hopefully 4 & not just 2), have a semifinal & then a championship. It would be over 2 weeks into Jan., not much different as it is now. These bowl games really do not want anything to do with a playoff. They like knowing who's gonna play in their little game, have their little parties & market it that way. That's the way it is.

Yeah if LSU loses by a field goal that makes for a weak title game since they already beat Bama once on their field. I agree, we need a playoff for them to deserve to play in the final. And BSU has a great tv following so they don't have an excuse. Not that they deserve it over OSU, just saying.

On another note...it was sweet revenge to beat an undefeated UI team on their floor by 16. Rebs are for real!

ya, don't remind me!! Thankfully I have been so caught up in studying for my arabic final, that I haven't had time to watch sports. Good thing too, as it has been a bad few days for my favorite sports teams. I love the Bears, and I went to Illinois, so I really love their basketball team(I saw about 10 games live the year they went to the national championship game). Illinois lost, and the Bears have been in a free fall ever since Cutler got injured.

PS. After all the talk of Manning being MVP because of how bad the Colts are without him, does Cutler get some similar talk seeing how bad the Bears offense has been without him!! Cutler isn't Manning, Brady, Rodgers, or Brees. But he is better than I thought he was before going out. He hasn't been great since coming to the Bears, and I always knew part of it was because of how little receiving and offensive line talent he had. I just didn't realize how bad the problem really was until the last few games. Either that or Hanie is the worst QB in NFL history.

Bears had a hard luck season losing Cutler and then Forte. I thought Cutler would step back after that horrible NFC title game. But he had the best season of his career I think, until he got hurt. Hanie is REALLY bad, but Cutler was playing well. They need an elite WR to be sure.

    what a joke!!!!

Boise State has a had a good run in their lower division. Last night's game was just another joke of an example. Bowl games are supposed to be good matchups to challenge each team. They couldn't even show BSU enough respect and give them another 2nd tier team as an opponent. Instead, we get to see another blowout against a sub par tier 3 team.

BSU should be complaining vehemently and this is yet another example that a playoff system is needed. Surely there were higher caliber opponents to give to BSU and let the seniors have competition for their last game.

What a crock the whole bowl thing has turned out to be..............come on, UCLA has a bowl game

The only way Boise is second tier is if you define the first tier as LSU and Alabama and absolutely no one else. Because Boise is as good or better than every other team in the country!! They beat the team that won one of the divisions in the mighty SEC, and they did it relatively easily. They are excellent. So like I said, if you define top tier as LSU and Alabama, then your statement makes sense. Otherwise it is silly.

I understand as a fan you wish that bowl games were about good matchups, but let me bring you back down to Earth. Bowl games are about money - nothing more, nothing less.

    ahhh

I see that you understand tiers much like in the EPL

do you really think ASU was a good matchup for BSU? Do you think that was the right thing to do to the departing seniors? They could have put another tier 2 team against them and give some competition

Heck, Oklahoma would have been a better matchup providing they stop their crying and get their act together

this has to be the worst matchups I've seen in years

    UCLA!!!!! come on

Yeah, I watched the "bowl game" last night. It was like a big middle finger to us.

Hell, I would have accepted another match-up against TCU.

I should also say as a BSU fan I am looking forward to seeing Bama play against LSU. That will be a good game.

BSU got screwed, without a doubt.

If it were me... Boise State would be playing Southern Mississippi in the Hawaii Bowl - they seem like they'd be a couple of well-matched opponents.

Nevada would have been playing Arizona State in the Whatever-that-was Bowl in Vegas last night - that would have been a better regional match-up IMHO.
