The overwhelming majority of people who become infected with the virus experience mild symptoms or no symptoms at all.

This virus poses virtually no threat to 99% of the population.

The large majority of people who die from this virus are already on the verge of death living out their last days in a nursing home.

Suspending normal life for the entire population based on a virus that almost exclusively endangers hospice patients is nutty.

 

Do whatever you want to do. Just stop pretending like everyone else is obligated to do the same. You have no right to lock me inside my own home because you're afraid of a virus. That's your problem, not mine.

 

Except all the fear mongering that preceded these draconian lockdowns wasn't based on any evidence, let alone billions of data points.

It was just a bunch of speculation based on dubious models. And you alarmists touted them as if they were infallible.

But now that actual evidence is emerging, suddenly it's not good enough for you, the same people who relied entirely on speculative models to upend society.

Funny how there was no time to discuss the wisdom of the lockdown - we just needed to obey - but now that we want to lift the lockdown, everyone has to take their time to painstakingly assess the data.

Gotta agree with the guy. In the case of food poisoning, it could be because the person is allergic, and in which case, yeah 99.2% of people(Let's say .8% are allergic to the same thing) would not have experienced food poisoning while X individual did.

Do you stop 99.2% of people from eating something because .8% could die from it? No, that's ridiculous.

Or let's say that it's that certain bowl that was contaminated. Let's say it was raw meat undercooked at a restaurant. We don't know if they cooked all of the meat raw. If they did, then yeah that restaurant should be closed, but the meat itself didn't cause any problems. Or if it were just that one bowl, then all of the other bowls are still healthy to eat.

We operate at a majority because that's the way to secure the most rights to most people without burdensome restrictions.

I think the swedish model is fairly dumb all things considered, but it is possible that they will see the better result in the very, very long term.

For right now, they rank 17th in terms of the cases per million, but 7th in terms of deaths per million. So that seems like the current data goes against their model, but their model is predicated on making it suck now to make suck less later on.

I would like to see the economic data for them as well because that is supposedly the big draw of this technique as well.

NO one said you had to stay locked in, they recommend people to go out jogging, and to leave the house. Heck look at those people gathered in a large group.

Now you have no right to demand people reopen their business so you can sue them when you get sick. Nor does an employer have the right to demand you risk your health for their profits. They MUST provide the appropriate PPE.

If they want, tell your boss to get some 3d Printers and have at it printing you guys face masks. Ill get back at it once you fresh guinea pigs flesh out all the kinks alright. I see there is no stopping you.

The amount of "otherwise young healthy adults" who suffered death or serious health problems from COVID is infinitesimal. I probably have a better chance of being struck by lightening. Spending inordinate time and energy fretting over something that has virtually no chance of happening is irrational and self-destructive. I will just keep exercising common sense like I always have and let the chips fall where they may. I would much rather do that than be a coward hiding from the world, waiting for permission from the nanny-state to go outside.
