BAGHDAD, IRAQ (BNO NEWS) -- Four Turkish fighter jets bombed suspected Kurdish rebel bases in Iraq on Wednesday evening after an earlier ambush killed at least seven Turkish soldiers, officials said.

According to the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, the four Turkish aircraft heavily bombed the Meteen area, and at around 9 p.m. local time, more planes entered Iraq's air space above the Kurdistan region in the Soran District of Erbil Province and the Qandeel Mountain valley, the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) reported.

No information was available regarding the magnitude of the damages caused during the bombing, but reports said the Kurdistan region suffers from Iranian artillery bombings almost every day, causing deaths and material damages.

Earlier on Wednesday, twelve Turkish soldiers were killed when a roadside bomb and an ambush targeted a military convoy in Turkey's southeastern province of Hakkari near the Iraqi border. Among the fatalities was a military officer who was in command of the troops.

The attack was reportedly carried out by Kurdish rebel group the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) which have killed at least 34 Turkish soldiers since July.

The PKK, which has been labeled as a terrorist organizations by the United States and the European Union, was established in 1984 in its efforts to establish the eastern and southeastern regions of Turkey as an autonomous Kurdish state. Over 40,000 soldiers and civilians have been killed in violent clashes since the group took arms. The PKK maintains its military bases across the Iraqi border.

Can not be surprised. Turks deny genocide of Armenians, so of course they will deny killing Kurdish civilians.

We know our history and what we did and we didn't, which means we will not accept any slander told about our history especially not when we have documents to prove otherwise.

You've been being posting off-topic BS for a while now Ezra.

It was relevant to what I was saying. That the majority of Turks are unable to admit to a world known tragedy, shows how likely they will admit to crimes against Kurds

Its pretty off-topic. Anyway, you think, the 'very very extremely innoncent angels' aka Armenians you talk about are capable of admitting the crimes they have done in past?

lol I never called them "very very extremely innoncent angels"

But I tell ya, if the government was doing to me as turk government and army was doing to them, id fight back to. Sorry, but in reality, people usually fight against oppression. Something I can tell Turks do not like

Of course, afterall the "Armenian Genocide" fairytale is all about politics, I guess that explains pretty much why.

I know, it's me who said it. So that I could enjoy the irony.

Depens on which issue you're talking about. Armenians? They have never been oppressed or anything. Kurdish? That's a bit more complicated and longer story. But if you're reffering to Armenians they have never been oppressed or anything, that's why you don't hear about them rebelling at least once before WWI. Do you want me to keep the off-topic and keep it further?

I think when a strong US leader comes forward next time he will ask Turkey to give full Kurdish rights. by then Palestine will be declared meaning we are next to follow their steps in south Kurdistan. Syrian Kurds will soon get autonomy, its likely Iran falls aftet syria and Kurds there will also too, Turkey will be stuck and wishing it solved the problem long time ago. we have all seen what happens to oppressed and oppressors.
