I Do Not Know. I Do Know I would not like to term Democracy as a choice of this Party's Leader or That. And local leaders such as Governors are cut out of the loop too. The independent election of a Chief Executive is more Democratic than any Parliamentary system I can imagine.
Tell that to the person I responded to. I'm not going to argue the constitution with someone who doesn't accept the constitution.
Says the guy who wants to get rid of the Electoral college because it doesn't always yield him the results he wants.
So what? Under the terms of the treaty, that is irrelevant. What matters is the vote of the state appointed electors. Are you also opposed to the senate?
I don't insist. I've proven they can't. Not sure what that has to do with the people choosing their elected representatives?
I agree. which is why 1 person 1 vote should be the way we decide who our leaders are. People in rural, unpopulated states votes weigh more than populated states votes. That is unequal.
But the people haven't changed it. So they obviously want it. Are you disagreeing with what the people want?
So, you're perfectly happy with the disenfranchisement of millions of voters? You're fine with the tyranny of minority rule? Would it still be okay if Hillary had been elected by the same margin of EC votes even if Trump had the most popular votes? Try to be honest.
Just like in the senate. The treaty has many built-in systems to balance the interests of the less populous and more populous states. That's how the delegates were able to all agree to the treaty.
There are a lot of amendments that haven't been passed yet to the constitution. Doesn't mean the people don't want it changed. And most americans want the EC removed. There just isn't enough support to amend the constitution. https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/442276-poll-most-voters-support-abolishing-electoral-college
Except if you do it that way Presidential candidates will never even know there is anything but cities. And every one else can just be slaves to city dwellers.

Millions of voters, by your definition, get disenfranchised every election because their candidate lost. There are always winners and losers. You don't want to stand among the losers learn the rules and figure out how to make them work for you instead of against you.
