lots of data and alternate sources of information in this article debunks the claim being circulated by the left even on this very forum about gun deaths in conservative areas. When you take a closer look at the gun deaths it turns out that it’s democrat controlled cities.

Blue states have blue cities in them, how come they don't lead the nation in gun deaths?

 

most of the most dangerous areas in the USA are deep blue. and the group that commits the most murders-by far-votes Blue 90% of the time.

Why is the kids song “one of these things is not like the other” running through my mind? Mostly because “most dangerous” is close but not the same as “most gun deaths”

 

And the other wasn’t cherry-picking? This actually looks into it deeper than just states. I would call this far more in depth than the blue media posts. It also shows their source. You can dispute those if you would like as well but I won’t hold my breath.

Yes…. It does…. Look at the ten most violent cities in America. All are majority democrat, democrat ran, have higher populations of blacks. Not kidding, you can research it if you like.

 

If it's the lax laws in red states that allow the blue cities to suffer from higher gun violence rates, then the strict laws in blue states should protect their blue cities from similar high levels of violence. Those blue cities in blue states shouldn't be in this list of high violence cities at all.

What was the minimum population requirement to qualify for inclusion in reports that show dem cities are the most violent? Do you know?

Do you know what happens when those requirements are removed or even reduced? You might be surprised…

 

But they don't pose as big a problem in blue states?

That would lead some to believe, it's the red states that don't address the reasons for the problem in their own blue cities.

Crimes are typically higher in highly populated areas with high poverty rates, low educational opportunities. That seems to fit red states more as some of them lead the list of the highest poverty states in the country.

Cities have a higher concentration of blacks than rural areas - sometimes a FAR higher concentration
Black males - and to a lesser extent, females - commit homicideWAY beyond their proportion of the population.

Per capita:
Black males commit 18.4x more homicides than white males.
Black females commit 67% more homicides than white males
Blacks commit 16.7x more homicides than whites.

You wonder why MS AL and LA have more murders than ME NA and ID - even though they have the same gun laws?

In California, the 2021 homicide rate for Black non-Hispanics was 26.0. In Texas that 2021 Black non-Hispanic homicide rate was 23.44. Trying to make it a red state issue is obfuscation. Poverty and other issues are where we should be focusing.

In any case, running a query at CDC WONDER with the same parameters I got a slightly different list:



Notice how we do see more information with the populations of the counties. Quite a few urban areas in there.

Now run the query to see the differences in the race of the victims. The results would not be unexpected.

 

The study I cited adjusted for age. Did yours? Would likely explain the difference.
