A casino magnate, through the magic of SuperPACs and Citizen's United, will make a donation of 20 million dollars to Newt Gingrich's campaign funding. The guy is apparently a real gambler.... I think the odds of Newt winning the presidency are pretty slim.

But we have freedom of speech, money is speech, corporations are people, and this person has plenty of speech to spend.

I wouldn't expect Newt to take an anti-gambling stance anytime soon.

No? Wall Street was Obama's biggest campaign supporter, and he took an anti-Wall Street stance.

Well, I guess Obama wasn't bought in that sense.

We will see if Newt does the same if any issues involving gambling come up.

Yes, let's wait and see, instead of jumping the gun and accusing him of being bought.

The whole handpicking what companies were "too big to fail" certainly suggests otherwise.

Well, in all likelihood, we'll never know.

I think this guy just flushed $20 million down the toilet.

Yes, nobody can beat Obama — campaigning on class warfare, tax hikes, and a sterling record.

I didn't say nobody. I'm saying Newt can't beat Obama.

$20 million is chump change compared to the speech Obama has to spend.

What has the Campaigner in Chief raised to buy the next election - $150 million?

Expect Newt to take a dive now that he's cashed in. Seems to be the trend with conservatives these days.

It is what it is.....but I don't like the way it is.

Obama should have taken public financing when he ran against McCain, IMO.....then the precedents and the campaign system might not be so F'd up as it is now.

I think that is less than Obama got in foreign donations.

so how is it that Cain's presidential are dashed by sexual liaisons yet newt's multiple indiscretions have no impact?...wasn't he also front and center condemning Clinton for having an affair while he hypocritically was doing it as well at the same precise time?...

doesn't this raise alarm bells as to the man's integrity?...sexual infidelities in themselves don't make someone unfit to be president, sexual conduct between adults is their business and not the states/public's...but the deception, hypocrisy, and the ease in which he lied about it is a worrying trait in someone wanting to run a country...

$20 mil is a small start compared to some guy who is raising $1 billion to try to continue destroying the country

Support for him is largely emotional rather than logical or principled.

His sins or his hypocrisy do not matter. They want to get rid of Obama and he is what they see as the vessel. I'm not sure they have a plan for what happens after he fails.

You got that right. Especially the wimpy 2011 R class of candidates.

The same stance shared by a group of people he supports, the Occupy protesters.

Are you really denying that Obama hasn't been trying to turn people against the rich, wall street bankers, corporate jet owners, millionaires and billionaires, and pushing to raise taxes on them?

I don't like the big money in politics.

Obama was bought and paid for by Wall Street, Big Unions, and Soros. Latest word is that Barack Obama has raised over $1,000,000,000 to smear his competition with dirty ads. He certainly cannot run on his accomplishments.

Now we have Newt receiving big money from Gaming Icons.

We need to change campaign and political donations to the following system so these men are beholden to "We the people".

    1. Only a U.S.A. Citizen can donate to a political party, candidate, or cause. The maximum donation allowed in a calendar year is $10,000. The citizen can only donate for a political party, candidate, or cause that is withing his geographical boundaries of representation. (Example: If you live in California you cannot donate money to Chris Christie, unless he is running for President.)
    A. That means: No Corporation, Special Interest Group (PAC), Union, or Foreign Entity may donate to a political party, candidate, or cause.

    That's it.

We do that, and suddenly these politicians will be responsive to the citizens.
