I wonder which is madder....tRump or his supporters....
am guessing tRump to be the maddest hatter of all time.

There will be plenty of time for "cool off" later....right now they need to make it clear that
Trump and Company obstructing government will not be tolerated. If they don't deal with this now
it could be even worse in the future. I hear some Republicans are already back pedaling.

Gather your evidence, prepare a trial, leave the emotions at the door. This is not a witch hunt.

If you have the evidence and cause now, you should have it later as well.

And the "and company" part is telling about your agenda...

Perhaps that's the problem...when it comes to history, most folks have ADD...or at least preferential memory.
"If you have the evidence and cause now" then get it done...there's no reason what-so-ever to wait.
I was attempting politeness and civility by using the words "and company".
What exactly is that telling you about my agenda? That I think tRump and company are wacko? Of that I am guilty.

It doesn't make any difference though. Anyone who is still for Trump at this point isn't going to change
With one exception, Senators that he was planning to arrest and murder had his coup been successful MAY not vote to "exonerate" him. The one thing pols are more worried about losing than their careers is their lives.

What Trump was trying on 1/6 was in fact a coup and it came damned close to succeeding. Had he any of the CIA's considerable military might backing him it pretty much certainly would have. Trump came closer to overthrowing our Democratic Republic than anyone ever had before. Good Lord, you can't see that?

(But of course, you can. You might even have supported it foursquare if it had, which is why you want to let him skate now, so he can run again in 2024 and not have the considerable onus of having tried to overthrow and murder the government hanging over him.)

I mean who is "and company"? Are there more conspirators that haven't been named in the impeachment charges? Or do you mean nearly half the country?

There is a significant undertone in the rhetoric in the media and from our politicians that Trump supporters need deprogramming and should be alienated. I have seen people on this forum saying they should not be allowed to hold a job and participate in society. Members of congress have accused their co-members of helping with the insurrection by feeding intel to the rioters before 1/6.

Who are you really after, insurrectionists or anyone who dare not support the liberal agenda?

People who don't "support the liberal agenda" are not the same as tRump supporters.
People who don't "support the liberal agenda" could be called Republicans or Libertarians or even "altmiddle".
tRump supporters are an extremist category all their own.

I disagree. The American public will decide.

Every news source in the country, conservative or liberal, is saying that Trump's conviction is extremely remote. What you are saying is not reality.

A part of that American public is 74 million Americans who voted for Trump. 88% of Republicans still support the S.O.B.

And many of them are lost. Not holding a trial would only embolden them. But more importantly there are others who don't follow politics like we do. And finally, it needs to be held for the record and history books.

The DOJ is investigating whether Trump "engaged in an improper attempt to have the DOJ seek to alter the outcome" of the 2020 election.

The investigation comes in the wake of a New York Times report that alleged Jeffrey Clark, the head of DOJ's civil division, had plotted with President Trump to oust acting Attorney General Jeffery Rosen in a scheme to overturn the election results in Georgia.

Which causes one to consider another way the Democrats are screwing with the Democratic President.

Biden's DOJ should be investigating Trump for sedition as well as other related crimes. They can't. The Democrats are using the allegation in an impeachment trial in the Senate which is likely to fail.

Democratic lawmakers know all this. Which is why they do not talk about the projection of that Senate trial. They talk about many aspects of Trump's behavior, but they avoid any discussion concerning the outcome of the trial.

It is almost as if they know they are being foolish and counterproductive, but are doing it anyway.

Pelosi delivered the Articles of Impeachment to the Senate today. The abortive trial begins Feb. 8. Because they know failure is in the cards, there are hints the Democrats want to keep it short and get it out of the way.

Only a fool attempts something that is destined to fail.

I didn't say it wasn't. My contention is that preventing Trump's candidacy in 2024 is so imperative that it justifies even a large risk of just that candidacy coming about.

How else do you think we might prevent that candidacy other than by successfully impeaching him and forbidding that candidacy by law? Please note that he can run even from inside a jail cell.

I have said several times -- in fact just moments ago -- that Trump should be held accountable in the judicial system where the chance of his conviction is greatly enhanced. Trump's trial would be in the courts, where it belongs, and not where the jury consists of politicians with an agenda, half of whom are loyal to Trump.

The latter is insanity and impedes the Biden government.

We disagree here. That's fine. Doesn't really matter as the trial date is set.

But that is not going to happen. Trump should be tried in the courts, and I will take my chances on an imprisoned Trump being elected President ... or dogcatcher.

In the meantime, a lot of valuable time will be wasted and dissension will increase. One needs to measure what is remotely gained with what one will likely lose.

You have a point. I am trying to point how foolish the Democrats are by interfering with the agenda of a Democratic President. That is particularly true when there is a viable alternative with far greater chances for success -- the justice system.

Also, I am confused. Based on zero chance for success, I have no idea why they are doing this. Sure they will win in the court of opinion, but that is beside the point. Also, that has already been accomplished, and Trump does not want to show his face in public.

When exonerated, that will change. Thank you, Pelosi.

88% of Republicans still support the S.O.B.
    But why????
Because they fear losing their gov. jobs?...their power?
Do voters just side with whoever seems to have the most assault weapons because they are afraid?
Why would that many Americans still support a mad man?

I realize this will not stop defenders of the insurrectionist known as the Orange Fraud from making false claims about Old Joe and China, but.................

    — Psaki says: Pressed for the White House’s reaction, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said that authoritarian China doesn’t play by those rules and that its conduct, in fact, hurts American workers. “China has been willing to do whatever it takes to gain a technological advantage — stealing intellectual property, engaging in industrial espionage, and forcing technology transfer,” she said at a Monday afternoon briefing. “Our view — the president's view — is we need to play a better defense, which must include holding China accountable for its unfair and illegal practices. ... He's firmly committed to making sure that Chinese companies cannot misappropriate and misuse American data.” This could mean that Chinese-owned tech companies like TikTok, one of several targets of the Trump administration, won’t see U.S. government scrutiny easing up anytime soon.
