In the context of blaming someone for doing the wrong thing in a debate (or online discussion forum), it is.

Though I guess I've never tried just selecting a group I don't like, deciding that every conceivable thing they do is wrong because there must be a better alternative, I just haven't thought of it.

It's like turning ones brain off and trolling along on cruise control. Is it fun?

In the context of other conflicts, what you're talking about might be valid.

But Afganistan was no "worlds policemen" situation. We suffered a cowardly surprise attack, and then we counterattacked. A little more complex than that, but not much.

So we rolled in, drove the Taliban back into Pakistan where we hunt them down with drones, blew up any AQ personell or facilities we could find, and eventually put a bullet in Bin Laden.

And the question then is "now what?"

Historical options involve just deciding we own the country, wiping out the civilian population, salting the fields, designating a puppet dictator, or just looting the place before leaving and letting the locals kill each other until a new regime emerges.

I contend that building up their infrastructure and giving them democracy and indepence is a massive improvement over all of those options. I'm curious what you think we could do better from here.

That is litterally true. In principle they could decide to amend their constitution to where they're a tyrannical theocracy as soon as we leave. I think we'd let them.

However once the people get a taste of freedom and choice they tend to want to keep it. We'll see. But so long as they don't screw with us again it's their choice and they'll be finee.

The US has killed a great many of their people, civilians, men, women and children. There will be a price to pay.

The price will be paid by Muslims on American soil. They are easily accessible. They live in Dar al Harb. They are combatants for Islam. That makes all of them soldiers and legitimate targets.

The war in Afghanistan will continue between Pashtuns versus a coalition of Uzbeks, Tajiks, and Haasara. Pakistan will be dealt with by India.

We'd have killed none if Taliban and AQ forces didn't hide among civilians. I don't know to what extent that is appreciated by the afgan people, but I'm sure they're at least dimly aware.

Moreover in recent times the US is building things for communities, while the Taliban seems to have developed a penchant for bombing Mosques while Muslims are praying inside as a way to get a lot of casualties.

Now, I'm not claiming to be an expert in Islamic theology. But I'm going to go out on a limb and say that deliberately blowing up people in a Mosque during prayers would be viewed as a particularily bad thing by the locals.

In the past of course they'd just have to be cowed into submission under the Talibans ruthlessness and utter disrespect for life. But they now have more options, and I hope they take advantage of them.

Not in comparison to your "resistance" and they started long before the US arrived on the scene. How does that price get paid?

Whoever has murdered will pay the price demanded by the survivors. Your attempt to exclude American killers is patriotism unhinged.

Every gang of criminals right up to the current zionist gunmen has said this. Some believe them, but the doctors prevent those from voting.

How are the Fuzzy Wuzzies going to force the American killers to pay the price to which you refer?

Really, any evidence to suggest that? I think its quite rare for Taliban murderers to pay a price for their deeds. In the recent case I suspect the real price will be paid by the villagers when the Taliban exact their revenge. I am not an American patriot and pointing out the obvious that most of the killing of civilian sis at the hands of your "resistance" is hardly an attempt at excluding any US responsibility.

I'm not either, but your effort to exclude American killers from natural justice places you as a supporter of invasion and extra-judicial killing.

Its really a shame that the resistance is so disgustingly desperate. If these terrorists had any class whatsoever theyd be sniping off these stupid heroes in their country.` I really wish there was a patriotic group that was justified in its resistance and method of attack.

I cant stand the americans or the british armies.

Um... I suppose your preference for a "dumbass" Afghan over a "dumbass" American is dependent on your own social status.

If you're a Muslim male, the average Afghan would treat you better than the average American. If you're a homosexual or a woman dressed in a nontraditional way, the average American would treat you better.

Factual error: The Pashtuns have been defeated by conquerors who have adopted completely ruthless tactics. You should be aware of history.

The Pashtuns have been defeated by the Macedonians under Alexander, by the Mongols, and by the British during the Second Anglo-Afghan War. Knowing history is useful.

    I did, before the site servers crashed again. I said;

No Americans, or people from NATO countries, will be safe in that part of the world. America and its satellite countries will be opposed in important spheres, diplomatic and economic . Legal suits will be brought against the US government, and others, and against the commissioners of the private armies and mercenaries who plague Afghanistan. Afghanistan's friends and neighbors will support these moves, further isolating the Western bloc whose star is fading by the week. Reparation will be sought which will add to America's bloated and crippling national debt . The Afghan National Dance Troupe tour of New England will be cancelled.

Muslims on American soil will face open source warfare coming at them on an uncoordinated basis. Lawsuits are a joke. The struggle is here on American soil. Muslims in America will pay the price.

What do you think will happen in response? Muslims on American soil will face open source warfare. Americans of all sorts and without coordination will strike the Muslims down who appear on American soil.

Lawsuits are a joke. They will be unenforceable. The West is already dying.

Muslims on American soil will pay the price. It is what it is.

America is changing profoundly. The restraints of the past are slipping away.

They lost to the Muslims. That's the reason they're Muslims now. Sadly, conversion by the sword and coercion worked out pretty well for Islam.

Similarly the Northern alliance lost out to the Taliban.

I think this conflict may be confusing to you in that the US has no intention of staying long term. I suppose if invited we'd enjoy having a permanent airbase there, if requested we'd probably be willing to leave some training forces around, and if they get out of line in the future we'll be back.

But if the Northern alliance or really any group that renounces terrorism is in charge and would rather we weren't there, then we're happily gone.

"Winning" for us is simply the Afgan people enjoying freedom and prosperity in a non-terrorism supporting democracy.

So no change really. I'm curious. In your view of things, do you imagine pre invasion Afganistan as some kind of highly tolerant multicultural society with a western loving bent?

The reality is that, despite the US keeping them free of the USSR, the country was an intolerant, violent, hatred sqewing, theocratic cesspoll full of terrorist training camps.

It's hard to imagine things there being much worse than they started out, even in worst case scenarios.

But its looking like things are going to be greately improved. I imagine perceptions will get better still when we actually leave, dispelling myths by hatemongers in the country that we're an occupying force intent on looting their mineral rescourses and capturing their women.

I'd just want to point out that there is a particular subgroup of Muslims in America that are quite different.

Specifically the Ahmadiyya Muslims. They've got an extra prophet after Mohammad, so they're about as much Muslims as Christians are Jews. And their dude told them to be peaceful and loyal to the nations they were in.

I think much of the impression of Islam being a religion of peace comes from Ahmadiyya Muslims that came to American because the terroristic strains of Islam are intolerant if not murderous toward the Ahmadiyyas for obvious reasons.

Which is precisely why you'll never "win".....I know it's hard for you to accept, but they don't want your democracy. Neither did they request the burden of their plight from the White House incumbants out of which the imposition of this democracy was predicated. As I have illustrated elsewhere, the historical record shows that attempts by the Western powers to impose democracy have not only failed to meet the aspirations of the population's concerned, but the rationale underpinning invasion and occupation have invariably proven to have been bogus.
