lol but it isn't a literal interpretation, its a ignorant interpretation of a person who a) lacks knowledge and understanding of Islam and the Quran, and b) wants to use the Quran by twisting it to fit their values and beliefs.

It is your way! lol thats how you are interpreting the Quran. It just happens to be the same interpretation as the fundies. Why? Because you are ignorant. Simple as that.

[8:12] [Remember] when your Lord inspired to the angels, "I am with you, so strengthen those who have believed. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieved, so strike [them] upon the necks and strike from them every fingertip."

This is the Battle of Badr.

Why would a commandment from Allah SWT be directed to Allah SWT? When Allah SWT says I or We, He is reffering to Himself.

I didn't say America was a religion, read my post again.

Yeah, it refers to "believers", which in this context means Muslims.

Its not. Thats my point. You say its "Allah SWT punishment" when the command to "strike off their heads" is clearly to the Muslims, NOT to allah as you allege.

[9.14] Fight them, Allah will punish them by your hands and bring them to disgrace,.....

Literal interpretation involves no twisting of the words. It is a literal reading of the words. Like they did back in the 10th century when they shut the gates of ijtihad, prohibiting different interpretations. Like the wahabbis use a literal interpretation to justify their campaign of islamic terrorism.

    lol....

Yes, he is saying one is not a believer who treats his neighbor badly.

Where did you get that from? Nowhere does it say "believing neighbor" or "Muslim neighbor".

[9:12] And if they break their oaths after their treaty and defame your religion, then fight the leaders of disbelief, for indeed, there are no oaths [sacred] to them; [fight them that] they might cease.
[9:13] Would you not fight a people who broke their oaths and determined to expel the Messenger, and they had begun [the attack upon] you the first time? Do you fear them? But Allah has more right that you should fear Him, if you are [truly] believers.

As I said, it isn't literal. You are picking parts of verses, putting words in my mouth, and taking verses out of context. Or, you could say, you are twisting the verses.

Because you do not understand whats in the Quran, what it says, and what Islam is all about. I think I've already proved that in this thread though.

The only context you want to put them into, isnt found in the Koran or hadiths.

That's only ever been his method of argumentation. Kind of vindicates his opponents who dont need to lie, manipulate and deceive their way out of issues.

The Quran is not simply a book you can just pick up and read, and expect to understand everything. It requires a clean mind and intelligence.

It is not a history textbook, it's a guide to a righteous life for humanity.

I have explained the verses here, you cannot prove what I say is wrong.

The context of the verses is well known to anybody with any amount of Islamic knowledge, and no, you don't need to be a Muslim to have that. Only a select few think they know more than Scholars and Muslims in general.

Yep, pretty much thats all he's got.

Snippets of verses will never win you an argument. Neither will ignorance.

Actually, for an Islamic fundamentalist , you can just pick it up and read it. One who relies upon a strict, literal interpretation of the Quran, doesnt need all you speak of that is NOT in the quran to understand the meaning you attribute to it.

You keep going on with this Islamic Fundementalist thing...

Fundies have a limited understanding of the Quran, like you do.

To understand the Quran, you need to do more than just read it.

Not much of a guide to life if they need your 21st century interpretations in order to understand it.

It isn't "my" interpretation, I'm not surprised you don't understand what the Quran is all about. You don't try and learn.

It is not a textbook, to just read and get it. People who do that, such as yourself, have a limited understanding of the Quran.

There are many scholars and Imams who explain verses. The Hadiths also explain verses. As well as the historical context of the verses.

You forget, these verses were given to the Muslims when they needed guidance, when the time called for Allah SWT words and guidance.

When I explain a verse, it is not my opinion.

And not much of a guide if it is only relevant to a certain time and place.
