Just a quick question. Why do Americans still cling to their Christian beliefs so fervently while other developed nations are moving further away from religious beliefs?

Because America was founded on religious ideals. Many other nations are also grounded on religious ideals such as India and China. This isn't a strictly Christian thing.

So, here's my question to you. Why do secular nations have such high suicide rates?

At the time of Federation (1901) 98% of Australians considered themselves Christian so Australia was also founded on Christian principles. Today people who consider themselves as Christian is much lower.

    Deflection

That doesn't negate the fact that Christianity in the US is any different than Hinduism in India or Buddhism in China.

It can't be a deflection if I've already answered your question.

Here's the point. You're asking a bait and switch question that was clearly dismantled by an easy answer. Using the rules you've set forward, I should be allowed to ask you a question. That question is, why do secular nations have such high suicide rates? Would the reason why you won't answer my question be that, because if you do, you'll expose your own biasness toward Christianity? I mean, lets be frank here. Atheists cling to atheism, even though it hurts them. Is it more acceptable to accept atheism with its faults while not accepting Christianity?

Christianity may be on the decline in the dying West, but it is exploding in other parts of the world, and is projected to grow 50% between 2000 and 2050.

I had a look at suicide rates by country. In the top 10 only one can be deemed as secular, South Korea 2nd on the list. Sri Lanka is third on the list with a mainly Theravada Buddhist population. Guyana is at the top with mainly a Christian population. Nepal is also up there with an overwhelming Hindu population. Kazakhstan with a large Muslim population is also in the top ten. Lithuania is predominantly RC and is fourth on the list.

So,, really, religious beliefs has not correlation with suicide rates. Therefore your argument is moot and a deflection.

You're doing the math all wrong. We're not counting the suicide rates between various countries. We're examining the suicide rates among secular countries.
    Source: http://www.adherents.com/misc/religion_suicide.html

As you can see, the suicide rate among atheists in all nations is higher than religious people in all nations. So, my argument isn't moot at all. You just refuse to understand the facts. Atheists commit suicide at a higher rate than any religion in the world. Fact.

Naturally. If you have more Atheists in a society than religious folk of course there will be higher incidence of suicide with Atheists. Makes sense doesn't it. Like I said, there is no correlation between religion and suicide. Really, the link you provided didn't say a lot.

Those developed nations still hold on to Christian values they were founded on. When that dissipates then they will be taken over by Islam.

Those nations hold on to an amalgam of anglo-celtic/germanic/norse/roman/christian/Shinto/secular values. And taken over by islam? Do actually think jesus keeps out allah? If so, explain why america has suffered more loss of life due to islamic terrorism than say, Norway, or Japan, or New Zealand.

50% growth in the de veloping world will have zero impact on the rapid decline of christianity in the west - including america.

One 'definite' (according to a paper I read), is that the quasi-hubris borne of decades of primacy made Americans complacent regarding world citizenry. For so long, they thought they were as good as it gets, so had nothing to learn from other peoples. This has had the effect of culturally isolating them, which in turm means they've been left behind - as the world rushed on, driven by constant interaction and competition.

I really don't get the point of your question regarding loss of life....but I will answer it. American ideals of freedom are a threat to Islamic agenda/values. So that makes us the enemy.

And Japan is very concerned about racial purity. They don't ship in Muslim immigrants. Don't think Norway and New Zealand would be a place to focus a war on. They are already lost so to speak.

The reason America has been a strong and beneficial force is because we have been a nation that looks to God. The courage of our ancestors come from God.

Jesus said that those of "The World" would hate Him and that is proven true even in this forum, with people showing their anger and disdain for the Christian God while the real enemy walks with them and they don't see it.

It's interesting that the US and it's majority Christian beliefs takes so much focus from non believers when other countries that are majority Muslim or "100 %" Muslim is off the radar.

I think you missed the point of crank's reply. Compared to the military might of the USA, Norway, Japan and New Zealand are 'soft' targets. Ignoring New Zealand for a minute, any radical Muslim nation would love to get their hands on the resources Norway has and the industrial might of Japan.

Nope..More to do with the constant meddling of the west into Middle Eastern affairs. To a radical Muslim, America is the head of the snake.

Looking at the end agenda of a 100% Muslim world, I think a more realistic strategy would be to control the middle east, Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia etc, and get the majority of Muslims in line using fear and War. With oil as their power and resource they can ally with North Korea for weapons and fire power. While this fighting is going on in the middle east they can import legally and illegally Muslims into Italy, France and other European nations and especially the US, which eventually will create a situation where these countries can be controlled and manipulated away from their original values.. As we see in Iraq...you can't really depend on an Islamic army or population to fight for freedom so the more immigrants the better.
I think that sounds more logical then suddenly attacking Japan.

Poor Crank. You hate God so much that you make it into a sport.

The link I provided said plenty.

Besides, in relation to your question, the largest minorities in the US (Blacks and Latinos) are overwhelmingly religious. According to a poll conducted by the PEW Research Center, Blacks are 88% religious, while Latinos are just nearly as religious at 82%.

    Source: http://www.pewforum.org/2009/01/30/a-religious-portrait-of-african-americans/
    Source 2: http://www.pewforum.org/2014/05/07/the-shifting-religious-identity-of-latinos-in-the-united-states/

The rest of the world is increasingly becoming more religious and less secular. So, in reality, the people who are becoming more secular are whites in western countries. So, the question ought to be, why are whites becoming more secular?

If your argument for religion is suicide rates, the best would be for all of us to convert to Islam. Statistically people of the Muslim faith have the lowest suicide rates...

As often as we hear about suicide bombers, you're right. Muslims are more afraid of death than any other group. The reason why is because the afterlife isn't promised to any Muslim, according to the Quran.

    Prophecy predicted this would occur.

A better question might be, how does Sociology work as a Science?

Sociologists have tried to present their discipline as a science, calling it the Social sciences.
But they have no rules nor axioms which we can note and apply to hypothesis which we could examine.

If prophecy is possible, and it works, we must conclude that certain natural laws are at work.
How can prophecy actually tell the future which will come??

    Prophecy:

    1Tim. 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the (Renaissance of the) latter times, (after the end of the thousand year reign of Universal Christianity) some (men) shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits (demanding sexual license), and (the liberalization of marriage vows to include no-fault divorce, gay marriages, adolescent sexual freedom, multiple sex partners, open marriages, and such) doctrines of devils;
    1Tim. 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy (of even their own statistical facts and sociological studies), having their conscience seared (shut) with a hot iron (of self interest in feminism);
1Tim. 4:3 Forbidding (young people) to marry (until an average age of 28 years), and commanding (the folly of abstinence, in order) to abstain from meats (of their God-given hormonal drives) which God hath created (in us) to be received (an exercised close to the days of puberty) with thanksgiving (for the nature intended) of them which believe (God granted satisfaction of the sexual drives he, himself, created) and know the truth, (that society manipulates the youth in order to channel their behavior onto paths useful for the society of this man-made world).

Exactly, they are parasites on a Judeo-Christian heritage. It is a 'cut-flower' society with its roots severed. The flower still looks good, for a while.

Because of our freedoms, see my sig line. It isn't so much our foreign policy that drives them nuts as our social policy.

No different that the constant cycles of apostasy ancient Israel went through, they were punished with some of the same things we're enduring, drought and the sword.

    Prophecy:

    1Tim. 5:11-15
But the younger widows (to include those in modern society, who, through divorce, are equivalent to such a condition): refuse (early marriages), for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, (then), they will marry (for self interest and economic advancements only).
Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith (which were in the promises of altruistic service to their husband, their children, their family, and their community).
And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house, (or shopping until they drop); and not only idle, but tattlers (concerning the manipulation of the men), also and busybodies (into the sex lives of their girl friends), speaking things which they ought not (about the commercial nature of distributing their sexual favors in a feminist empowerment of society).
I will therefore that the younger women marry (while their still young husband is at the peak of his sexual drive), bear children (instead of compromise themselves into abortions, chasing after more desirable second and third marriages, and economic employment), guide the house (of their growing children), give none occasion to the adversary (of the social promotion of STD, promiscuity, and sexual license in the name economic aggrandizement), to speak reproachfully (of this ancient, and supposedly sacred, marital institution).
For some are already turned aside, (chasing down the best of catches) after (young men in whom is that) Satan, (whose hormones rage in the libidos of these young men who now are asked by Society to wait marriage out until age 26).

You missed the point completely. You ought to read my post again, and if you don't believe me research a bit.
If your argument for religion is low suicide rates, then by all means try to convert as many people as you can to Islam.

And just so you know: suicide bombers are not a major fraction within the over 1 billion Muslims in the world
