Yeah, I think he is talking about the Thunderbolt.

My droid did not come with an ounce of crapware at all. Lots of Android phones are like that...mine was not unique. The Thunderbolt was the exception, not the rule.

Yeah, it is weird how clunky iTunes is considering how anal Apple has been about the "end user experience". I have a dual core 3ghz system, and iTunes still takes forever to start up.

At the very least you'd think they would have a streamlined version of it for use with the iPhone and iTouch. You dont need the whole (*)(*)(*)(*) store just to sync your data to your device.

Because Google has a harder time affording that price tag than either Apple or Microsoft.

Yes, I've developed flash sites before. It's really not a good way to develop web content.

I'm talking about battery life during the day, not battery life over the length of the device. Some of the most recent Android devices literally will not go a whole day without charging or swapping the battery.

And I absolutely hate having to manually manage my files with drag and drop. It's like I stepped back ten years. Drag and drop should, at best, be a mode you can put the phone in--not the default method of file management.

There are no managed syncing options on Macs, and the only option on Linux is for music only. Even that depends greatly on the specific phone. Even Apple provides support for more than just Windows.

Yes, it does. Want to get rid of the crap on a brand new Thunderbolt? You're (*)(*)(*)(*) out of luck. Until recently you couldn't even change the search widget on Samsung phones.

The lack of something like iTunes is my second biggest gripe about Android, behind the pathetic battery life on Android phones.

What is Google's price tag exactly? What are they paying and to who?

Not really, too many. Apple's iPhone is a status symbol, droids not so much.

Flash is still widely used, and there have been several times that I would have been pissed off if I didnt have support for it. It doesnt happen often, but when it happens you miss it a lot.

The same holds true either way actually. We also have the option of installing an after market battery with a lot more capacity if we want.

Oops, there is that evil word again..."option". Apple hates that word.

Then I have the option of buying a different Android device. Because there is not just one Android phone.

Yeah, it should be. Tell Apple that.

LOL, my Droid did not come with a single app I could not install. You are wrong.

ANDROID does not come with any crapware you cant uninstall. You are citing a specific phone, the Thunderbolt. The Thunderbolt is not only not the only Android phone, it isnt even most of them.

Do you buy a phone to use as a status symbol? Is the "status" factor a primary variable in your decision to buy a phone?

LOL, no. You need to get your Android info from somewhere other than Apple propaganda sites.

No, there are no locked apps on my phone. None.

Well as long as it works, why not?

M fiancé has a droid... I think he just hides those apps, that you can't uninstall them naturally.

So you are saying that the first thing you look for in a phone is not the display quality, or storage capacity, or speed, or easy of use, or versatility, or features....you just look for a phone that makes calls and is a good status symbol?

    Really?

Then your fiance does not have a Droid. He has something else.

The Droid uses the generic Android OS...there are no 3rd party apps pre-installed on it at all.

LOL - If you care about style over substance, then yeah, the iPhone is definitely the phone for you.

(Hey, at least you admit it...thats more than most iOS users do)

btw - Your link goes to a Droid X article. The Droid X is not the Droid. Just like the Thunderbolt is not the Droid.

There are lots of phone models from different companies that use the "Droid" name. It is a Verizon marketing tool. The "Droid" refers to the original Motorola Droid, which I linked to.

Yeah, thats why most Apple users have those items...because of their looks. Not because of their functionality or what they can actually do.

Like I said, at least you admit it.

    No.

Droid is a brand name that Verizon has licensed from Lucas...there is the original Droid, the Droid X, the Droid Incredible, ect...there are probably six or more phones with that name now. The Droid Incredible was an HTC phone.

"Droid" refers to the original one, which is the one I linked to. That is the one that is most well known and has sold the best.

And as long as it "works" thats all that matters, right?

If so, what do you need a smartphone for? Lots of phones made phone calls before the iPhone.

They couldn't possibly have outbid Apple and Microsoft, because they just flat out don't have enough money.

They're not as rich as their competitors and they are starting to be a little too spread out. And not all of their venture are success either.

    http://www.pcworld.com/article/146101/top_10_google_flubs_flops_and_failures.html

And they're not that much of the good guys anymore either. Their do no evil motto got out with the trash when they started cooperating with china (I know that they've stopped but they did do it). They also supposedly not read your email on gmail, but they do admit to using bots to "scan" it do do "useful things", which can be just about anything that they want beyond targeted advert.

Oh, and one of the little joy of Android:

Yep you're right.... It's good to have the freedom to carry an infected phone...

Yeah, because iOS sure doesnt have to worry about viruses, right?

I have never gotten a single virus. Neither has anyone else I know with an Android phone. Exaggerate much?
