I was reading the other day that a man in St. Louis was stopped in his car as a group of men came up to him and stabbed him with a knife and carved the Star of David on his back with the knife.

Why? It was because the man was a former Muslim from Iraq who converted to Christianity and wrote a poem about the horrors of the Holocaust.

This got me to doing some digging in terms of anti-semitism in the US. I found this on the FBI web site.

    http://www2.fbi.gov/ucr/hc2009/victims.html

From the web site it says that hate crimes directed against Jews account for 71.9% of hate crimes. Their nearest competetor are Muslims at only 8.4%. That is an astounting 69.3% difference. Why then is it that Jews are hated so much more than any other religious group?

Persecuting and killing Jews has been a common pastime of Christians for at least 1600 years.

Constantine wanted one religion. To him heritics were were anyone who did not follow his formulation of the trinity doctrine found in the Nicene Creed and that included Jews.

Over the years Popes threw in the idea that somehow the Jews as a collective were responsible for killing Christ to heighten the hate and justify taking their property and killing them.

Jews were always good with a buck and so they were often the money lenders. Laws against Jewish usery go back at least to Charlamange.

Modern conspiracy nuts connect this to some global conspiracy/one world order. Throw in the other traditional "killing of Christ" zeal and you have a silly argument that nazi wingnuts will buy into.

personally, i would believe that blacks get it far worse in the US but i dont keep track of such stats/

But notice that i have claimed over and over, if american's knew that israel was to be a JEWISH state when the funding began, it would not exist as it does today.

The US has been taken advantage of by the hypocracy surrounding israel.

and one day soon people will wake up

So are you saying that this hatred of Jews has been passed down through Christiandom to this present day? Is this why Jews are the most hated religious group in America?

They're not the most hated religious group in the US presently. After 9/11 Islam has the top honor. Jews are up there because some far right preacher still have the silly notion that it was the jews that killed Christ. It was really the roman, they were the one who delivered the verdict, judgment and finally executed him. There are also the remnant of the Nazi sympathizer in the US that blames the jews for everything, but they are also hitting on the muslim. They hate anybody who isn't WASP.

So you would base the large gap in disparity of hate crimes between Jews, at 72%, and Muslims, at 8%, on far right preachers?

I'm going to bet the farm that 99% of hate crimes against Jews are committed by Muslims.

In terms of religious anti-semitism, here is a look.

    http://inductivist.blogspot.com/2010/06/worldwide-anti-semitism-by-religion.html

They asked the quesiton as to whether someone wanted a Jew as a neighbor. The percentage that said no are the following.

    Shia 96.2%

    Sunni 65.2%

    Hindu 50.5%

    Muslim 35.2%

    Buddhist 31.2%

    Christian 27.2%

    Evangelical 22%

So it appears that out of the world's religions, the most ardent anti-semitic are Shia. Of course, this is of no surprise as the likes of Iran are leading the charge to destroy Israel.

What I find puzzling are Hindu's and Buddhists. What gives?

From the data above, does it appear that Islam has taken up the mantle of anti-semitism?

    and now the clincher:

reading quran in the orignal text requires a person to read the semite language

se·mit·ic/səˈmitik/Adjective: Relating to or denoting a family of languages that includes Hebrew, Arabic, and Aramaic and certain ancient languages such as Phoenician and Akkadian, constituting the main subgroup of the Afro-Asiatic family

so find that the bigots dont comprehend reality

Jews are hated by a wide variety of groups for a wide variety of stupid reasons (I don't consider any reasons for hating a loosely-knit group of people not-stupid).

The modern conspiracy theories still use Jews as the centerpiece, even when they try to stay away from religious terms. The reason is because international banking, goldsmithing, and modern religions are all considered paramount to the "conspiracy." All relate (in the conspiracy theory kind of way) to Jews.

In addition, the conflict between Jews and Arabs builds up hatred between the groups.

Then you have neo-nazis, certain fundamentalist Christian sects, and others who consider Jews evil or inferior.

Then there's certain black movements that have had a bad attitude toward Jews since, strangely, an incident concerning teacher's unions and a locality (before then, Jews were a major supporter of civil rights, and blacks and Jews often worked together for that cause).

Some fringe conservative factions hate Jews because they're part of the "liberal establishment."

A lot of these groups overlap and intersect.
And many of them contain a lot of angry people. Angry people tend to be more violent than non-angry people.

There's also the matter in FBI statistics about what groups report more. Jews tend to be better off, and people who are better off tend to trust the authorities more when victimized. I also assume there are still more Jews than Muslims in the US now... and if not, I think Jews are more likely to live in big cities with economically and ethnically diverse populations.

You can't convince me that Jews have more hate crimes directed toward them these days than Mexicans. Some of the angriest groups that hate Jews also tend to hate blacks and Mexicans.

Tell that to the Shia and Sunni. You know, the same eople who deny the Holocaust ever happened or send their children out into the streets to die as "martyres" for Islam. Just don't expect them to embrace reality.

This thread is about religious hate crimes, not racial ones. We are trying to ascertain why the large gap between the Jewish faith/culture and others.

So you say that Jews are "better off"? Why do you think this is and does this always produce hate and envy?

    ww2 did happen

and gaza is an existing holocaust

    what's your point?

are you suggesting, that to not believe the BS of bigots, makes a person anti semitic?

i dont believe hilter did what was good for mankind, does that make me anti semitic?

i dont believe the KKK did much good either, does that make me anti semitic?

I hate zionism........... that could make me anti zionitickish

Stop playing with words. The topic at hand is why there is so much hatred generated against the Jews.

Muslims were asked if they cared if a Jew lived next to them. The overwhelming response was yes.

As for gaza being an existing holocaust, I think you are confused with the genocide just south of the border as Muslims systematically killed Sudanese Christians. I don't know of any death camps in Israel unless you can show us.

The rest of your post is incoherent.....once again.

As for hating the Zionists, if I were a Jew and studied the historical persecution of the Jewish people and study the current hate towards Jews around the world today, I would see Israel as my last stand to be defended to the death.

i didnt realize you had a hatred
have you ever asked one why?

the creation of israel was a sort of death camp to anyone who denied them (having to give up their homes).

I consider israel the land of blood
then try learning how to read as your debating skills are lacking integrity
perhaps you are defining why people hate people like you too

could you imagine if every lineage of people thought like you do, there would be no such thing as ever being a possibility of peace.

If you want war forever, you picked the right venue; bigotry, oppression, and hate, all established in self chosen hypocracy

anyone can read about someone in their past being harmed............... ie.... you are insulting me now, does that mean my children should take your home and throw you into a fenced yard and pour gasoline on you?
