Practical is one of the main defenses of discrimination and prejudice. Why is a 34 year old too young to be president. Why can 18 year old not drink wine in our country when they have been for 100s if not 1000s of years in Europe. Why did we have stop and search because practically the statistics said it made sense. Why did the check more Muslims at airports because .... The whole point is discrimination or prejudiced can be explained away. I am not arguing for removing things like driving age, or drink age, height, weight, requirements etc... BUT keep in mind for those impacted they feel discriminated against. Watch TikTok videos of people that have to pay for 2 seats for air travel. Hear their complaints before dismissing them.

 

Yeah, maybe in your time but woman put up with a lot less of that now. Simple enough experiment ask any young woman you know if they had a choice would they rather be ugly or attractive. I am sure that will answer the question.

The very frequently used term, anti Semite, refers specifically to someone who dislikes Jewish people while someone who dislikes Whites / Caucasians is simply classified as racist.

The existence of the term anti Semite would imply that Semites, including Arabs, are somehow distinct from Whites / Caucasians.

In this whacky era when people can chose to identify as a different gender why not go completely crazy and let people chose the race of their choice?

Replace "white people" with any other race in what she is saying, and make the speaker a straight, white man, and what do you think the consequences are?

 

I would agree those are valid examples but according to @Cybred that if your prejudice or bigotry against those groups are SOMETIMES true then it is not real bigotry. For example if people speak about grooming in the homosexual community, they may only be a tiny percentage that engage in it but according to @Cybred if it is SOMETIMES true it is not bigotry to accuse homosexuals of grooming. Same thing with racial bigotry. If there are some minorities that commit crime it is not bigotry to call them all criminals because SOMETIMES it is true.

Ask yourself what is prejudice or bigotry. It is normally preconceived notions about a group rather than judging the individual. Are they lazy, are they immoral, are the criminals, are the bad parents, do the abandon their families, are they drug addicts, are they stupid etc...

 

It seems pretty real on this forum and we see it all the time from political leaders and in the news. How many times has Trump even recently called democrats cheaters. Not a specific person but the group in general. How many times do people call stories fake news without offering any proof. How many times have we seen people on this forum call the other side evil. Again not that a specific person is evil just a generalized broad paint brush that the other side is evil. Tribalism has gotten out of control in our country's politics. When you talk about people not taking it seriously look at those that are tying up our court systems, those that physically attack the opposition, those that are interrupting others trying to enjoy dinner.
