If this is for a research paper we did one on Mein Kampf back at the university.... its a pretty long documentary but the real thing, narrated in German even. I speak a little German but its best to have a translator.

This one starts at the Civil War and right from the back discusses how the Civil War was not simply a war between North and South, but the United States and the British Empire.

It carries on commendably. Was a really good watch.

Not sure if these links will work outside the UK, but if anyone is interested in history documentaries, these BBC series are on subjects that alot of people know very little about, even if they do have an interest in history, and even if they live over here, let alone over there! Like all documentaries they have their flaws, omissions and possible interpretation issues, but both are good general overviews of their subjects (both links to episode 1 of the series):

    The Story of Wales:

    A History of Scotland:

    Edited to add:
Just to complete the set, The Story of Ireland:

The reason these are so interesting is that the stories of these 3 countries usually get submerged within histories of 'Britain' or 'the UK', which are almost always hugely Anglo-Centric (understandably to an extent, since England is the largest of the countries), and pretty much ignore the other 3 nations on these islands. These are all the stories of these nations told from their own point of view, and that's not something that's often been told (not on TV, anyway).

And another one of a similar kind from the BBC, from the same guy that did the Scotland one above:

    Vikings

(the real story of the Vikings, intended to be more from their own point of view, rather than the myths and legends that have been spread by those that they came into conflict with)

My fav. doc is Bill Maher's Religulous

Also all the Michael Moore docs. My favorite is Sicko, but they're all good. Farenheit 9/11, Capitalism: A Love Story, Bowling For Columbine, etc.

    Hope this helps!

It addresses what may have been a long time misconception about the link between HIV and AIDS, as well as the real cause of AIDS.

You may have seen them already, but I really enjoyed the WWII in HD series that I saw on History channel. Don't know who actually made them. The Vietnam in HD series was also interesting.

It's a whole series of episodes. It's dated, but believe me it's still worth the watch. Carl Sagan is a brilliant orator.

Carl Sagan's Cosmos Series seemed pretty powerful at the time.

I've never actually seen this series but I've heard a lot about it. They are remaking it with Neil Degrasse Tyson and I had been planning on waiting to see it then. I do enjoy Sagan though, he reminds me so much of Agent Smith from the Matrix. The only problem I have with Sagan's Cosmos series is the information is dated. I'll give it a watch though.

Thanks for this link, and the other you posted as well.

Gangland seasons are short documentaries and some I think are funny (The biker ones for the most part) Theres about 10 biker ones that all seem to be the same just the "insert name here" type.

I also like "History of the Chopper" A motorcycle doc. By Jesse James, Pretty good, Also Harbor town Bobber is a good one I liked. It talks about Captain America (Easyrider Chopper) and Billy Bike the original guys who built them.

It deals with the market surrounding psychologists and prescription drugs.

'Hitler's Bodyguard' is hands down the best documentary series I've ever watched.
    An example;

Most of the episodes are on Youtube.
