This is good to see. Glad the church did the right thing. Now we just have to see if the law does as well with regard to the rest of the perps.

Yes, it is good to see. Noone should have to worry about this, and glad they do not want to be a part of it.

I have a feeling however that you wouldn't be as free to accept their stance above if it wasnt going in your favor on an issue. If they were to balk at Weddings or some such thing....you wouldn't accept that same "Christian Behavior".

I had a team leader in my platoon who is gay. I once saw two men in a bar in Jacksonville FL make fun of him when he was in his civilian clothes. They called him horrible words. He let it go. We both exited and he gave me a grin and said "man, I just wish one of them threw a punch". He's the highest level in Modern Army Combatives Program and teaches hand to hand combat to private contractors and military recruits.

Everyone may find something different to take away from a given article. in any regard, hope the victims recover and the perps get punished accordingly.

Good for him. I don't know if I could have been that composed. However, given his position, that was probably the smart thing to do.

This is the "wonderful" result of our so-called "multicultural" society. Rightly or wrongly, people hold prejudices. Even Liberals hold prejudice! It then begets to wonder who was the idiot that thought it was a good idea to create this miserably patched "melting pot" known as America? She most certainly wasn't created as a melting pot!

What benefit was there to the Michael Sam kiss? Little more than provoking sensitivities! Likewise, being "gay and proud" in non-gay areas unfortunately draws the risk of something like this happening.

I believe every individual should live according to his or her values, and the community should reflect a Singularity. What we have now, is a fragmented division of people who neither share ideals or ambitions.

Just goes to show you how the Church is the bigger person when they still side with homosexuals even after they are under constant assault from them.

Rittenhouse square is not a non-gay area, far from it.

These 12 guys who were most likely drunk and looking for a fight when they came upon these two men knew this as well.

    1. No matter what people's prejudices may be, they are not allowed to assault others because of them.

    2. Have you never been to Philly? If you had, then you would know that the area where this took place was hardly a "non-gay area". And WTF is a "non-gay area" anyway? And how were these men being "gay and proud"? By walking down the street? Seriously?

    3. If your ideals and ambitions include assaulting other people you simply don't like, then I suggest you find another country in which to live.

Criminals break laws, I believe those on the Right/opposing sides have already demonstrated ample examples with regards to "gun control". The NY shooter took lives before being brought down. There isn't a million gun laws that could've stopped that.

So, what can we do? Create a society that adheres to, and enables the economic security of a majority of people. In so doing, minorities will also enjoy a healthier experience in America, which is what we all want.

A few times(Born in North Philly, moved to Delco). I'm not sure I've ever been specifically to Rittenhouse Sq. I went to the Constitution Center a couple of times(for different reasons) that's nearby. My personal life in the Commonwealth aside, I'll get to the heart and meat of the matter: 95% of Americans are heterosexual(Liberally speaking), unfortunately there's bound to be some bigots.

Instead of going against the mainstream, why not live in pro-gay neighborhoods? Shop at pro-gay stores, etc? The "struggle" to come out is just stupid martyrdom with no accomplishments for the LBGT Community. They don't need the world's recognition, or hell even the State's. Just their own.

My ideals and ambitions are the following:

Only thing I disagree with is the last part, America wasn't/isn't intended to be "under god", but instead a pure secular country. I intend to keep us secular.

I have no idea what this has to do with my question.

The entire idea of the USA is that EVERYONE gets to enjoy freedom, not just the majority- EVERYONE. If bigots act on their prejudices, they go to jail.

First of all, they WERE in a pro gay neighborhood.

Second of all, no one has to only live in a certain area to expect to be treated equally under there law.

Thirdly, as far as coming out is concerned, that one act is exactly why we have gained so much in the past decades. Being invisible was what really hurt us. If no one knows who we are, then they simply assume that we are the monsters some have tried to make us out to be. Until we stood up and made our voices heard and became visible, we remained a scary bogeyman. The truth is- we're just people. If some bigots don't like us, that is THEIR problem. If they choose to make their problem our problem with their violence, they will pay the consequences.

attacking people, regardless of their sexual orientation, is a fireable offense in any school system, or church.....

    it's a crime,

but why is beating a gay somehow warrants MORE punishment than had they beaten two friends up they didn't like? I thought gays wanted EQUALITY, not MORE.

I apologize if it confused you, let me dumb it down:
There'll always be violence, laws or no laws kapeach?

It's one thing to have an expectation of public safety, it's quite another to have a demand of it. Especially when no group is more political and personal than the LGBT. You made your own beds by "speaking out".

Key thing? All groups assimilated into America, it's impossible for the LGBT to openly assimilate because their sexual orientation is dramatically opposed to the heterosexual community. A majority, in mind and spirit must always maintain political rule for the survival of a country.

The LBGT, Feminists, etc are merely political enemies and antagonists of the Realm.

    Could've fooled me.

I know, as we've seen in Ferguson this "idea" is an abject failure. Differences are real, they're legitimate. Being "treated equally under the law" is semantics. We're ALL treated "fairly" under sentencing laws(for the most part), suffice to say it doesn't make us "equal".

Hence the word "treated", it implies an unnatural state. It's an illusion, a lie, a hindrance. An obstacle to State Building.

Actually, like Feminists you bombarded the political system, made a few publications and presto! There wasn't some "awakening", quite to the contrary it forced an untenable social discord. All minority groups have sought the dissolution of the Union and that goal's more close at hand than ever before.

As long as Minority Groups push for their so-called "rights", America falls into ruin.

cause it's meant to attack all gays... not just the ones their beating....

it's like saying why is burning a cross in a back guys yard not just a case of arson
or why is writing get out n-word on a black mans house not just simple graffiti

the other option it to classify it as terrorism as that is what it REALLY is

a hate crime just adds 5 years to the sentence....

you assume they were Christian because they worked as a basketball coach there? You assume every student that parents send them to Catholic school are Christian?

I agree to the point that what they did was not very Christian at all, and I don't, in any little bit, support what they did.... What I am complaining about is your hypocracy in supporting hate crimes prosecution when the political group victimized is one you support, (the gays getting beat up for being gay in the link), but for some reason, you turn a blind eye to when it's a group you support, victimizing a group you DON'T support. (the lesbos attacking the priest in the picture)

if you support hate crime legislation, fine.... support it both ways.

my issue is when agenda driven people like yourself, only support equality when it benefits you.

Religion, despite your aversion to it, is still protected under the same hate crime legislation that gays are protected under on paper......

Yep- and when people break the law they get punished, Capiche? (fixed that spelling for you. If you're going to use a word, at least spell it correctly)

So wait, we should not expect to be safe in public? Are you serious?

Oh good lord, we are not opposed to heterosexuality. This is just stupid.

    Gay friendly neighborhoods in Philly:

    http://www.visitphilly.com/itineraries/philadelphia/exploring-gay-philadelphia/

No one has to live in a certain area to be treated equally under the law. Period.

Oh wow. "All minority groups have sought the dissolution of the Union"? Look, I have better things to do than argue with people who have no grasp of what this country is about. This is just silly, paranoid goofiness.

According to my spellcheck you're still 'wrong', but unlike you I'm not interested in semantics

    1) That doesn't/can't stop violence in of itself and 2) The 'Law' isn't perfect, all we/you get to hear about are the successful cases, but 'cold' ones? Hardly as such.

Do you understand now, my liberal friend? You're perfectly right to expect public safety, but to demand it is an impossible burden.

Answered above, take the time to ponder it. "Protected Status" doesn't mean you've "arrived", quite to the contrary the status was so conferred because otherwise, the public at large wouldn't concur to anywhere near as much. Hence the discord.

Sigh, must I explain everything? You, as an individual may not be opposed to heterosexuality but your lifestyle(of being gay) is diametrically opposed to heterosexuality. Now, you have all the right in the world to your own sexual orientation but that same right also exists for Hetero's.

It'd be like being a vegetarian moving into a meat eater's home, throwing out all of his/her food and crying out: "It's my right to eat only vegetables!"

The obvious answer is for the vegetarian/meat eater to live in separate houses. "Coming out" was and is stupid, just as Brown V Board of Education was stupid.

Think about it, if you take moral offense to heterosexual PDA, why'd you think the opposite wouldn't occur?

Hooray for them I guess? But this alludes back to my previous point: Expectation? Yes, Actuality? No.

Did I or didn't I say that's merely semantics? I even highlighted the word 'treated' for you to make it easy for everyone to understand.
Maybe a vid will suffice to explain my views:

Not "what this country is about", but what it has become, a desegregated mess of peoples masquerading as a country. And largely, it's the Minority Groups to blame. You chose not to assimilate, but instead to make America assimilate to you. Class warfare exists primarily due to the non-compartmentalizing parts of our "whole", this can be summed up thusly: Your lobbying/"activist" groups.

As long as you seek rights as some kind of "victimized individual", America's fall is inevitable. It's been 40 years of decline, it'll be another 5-or so before the aforementioned fall, and with it Liberalism and "Minority groups" will never again be heeded.

Assault and battery is a crime, usually felony, no matter what the genital preference of the victim(s) is/are.

Don't see anything in the story that indicates this is a 'hate crime', or that the two men were just attacked out of the blue because they were homosexual, nor any evidence these two homosexuals weren't the instigators themselves, just assumptions that just because they were homosexual they must be completely blameless and hapless victims. Big fail so far as some sort of Teachable Moment, or even if all 12 of the athletes were involved. Obviously it isn't clear who instigated the incident, since no arrests have been made.

why is it funny.... see it all the time... gets kicked out of public school, sent to catholic school, or military school, and kiddo fights it the entire way.

if a gay man is beaten up, even if he starts it, it is deemed hatecrime by pro-gay supporters and anyone that dares question it MUST be a homophobe and bigot....
