Are Donald Trump/Joe Biden too old for the presidency?

For me, both, Biden is obviously senile and Trump is beginning to seriously slip up in public, the job needs some seriously new blood.

 

I agree with you 100%, but the sucky primary system is going to stick with these two old codgers who need to retire (Trump) or go the rest home or memory care unit (Biden).

I am almost 75 so don't accuse me of "ageism."

 

100%. It's like the Boomer generation hasn't screwed up America enough. They need one more coup de gras before they take their dirt naps.

 

Trump is starting to make the same cognitive mistakes that Biden is so if you're a person who thinks Biden is too old, you've pretty much got to say the same about Trump.

But folks won't. The left will ignore Biden's decline and the MAGA crowd will ignore Trump's, but not without each criticizing the other side about the mental state of their candidate, with the hypocrisy going completely over their heads.

 

Agreed. Biden needs to go to a nursing home, and Trump needs to go to Mar-a-Lago and play golf for the rest of his life. The same insiders who have been running nearly everything since the onset of the "Great Recession" in 2007 will go right on running the entire country anyway, so, why have these geezers out there at all?

Disclaimer: I'm a 'senior citizen' and I still say that neither Biden nor Trump should be in the White House at all.

 

I would prefer someone younger. Biden is seriously declining mentally and physically. Trump is a little better right now, but he will probably be as bad as Joe is now by the time he reached the end of a second term. Right now, I think the likely prospects of a President Kamala will play more heavily in November than anybody is talking about today.

 

Biden has slowed down a LOT. Not sure if he is senile. Not sure if it affects his judgment.

I think Trump went downhill a lot earlier in life. In terms of personality changes. Biden has mellowed. Trump has become more bitter and twisted.

 

They're both too old for me. Biden was showing serious signs of cognitive decline when he ran four years ago, but a lot of people pretended it wasn't real because they hated Trump.

The way I look at is I try to think of all the 80 years in my life and then ask myself if any one of them could run our country. The answer is no. Biden looks like he needs help wiping his butt half the time. Trump's current mental faculties are better than Biden's were four years ago, but it's not something I'd roll the dice on if he were a candidate that I'd consider voting for. My ideal age would be 45-55 at the start of their presidency.

You only think Biden has mellowed. That because they keep him under wraps. Word has it he lashes out at meetings just like many dementia patients do when they are crossed.

Trump is getting to be almost as bad. He's always been nasty to those who don't agree with him. That's one of the great flaws to his management style. He's a poor team builder.

Age really has nothing to do with it. It's all mental acuity. Trump has the energy of a 50 year old. He can easily speak off prompter for over an hour.Biden can't do that for 5 minutes. People just want to lump him in with the old man because of TDS.

 

I think that Biden is too old... but President Trump is not..... Trump's courage to tackle difficult situations is worth even more than an extra fifty IQ points... in my opinion.

But... Trump's IQ has been calculated at around 156... so he has brain power to burn......... Biden DOES NOT!!!!!

By the way... it seems obvious to me that President Trump used a Grade five vocabulary so that his opponents would mis-underestimate him...... and...... he would get along better with the Blue Collar workers who make him a lot of money at all of his Hotels and Resorts..... One problem is that Biden is senile. Another problem is that certain people (such as Biden) corruptly make a career out of politics.

Trumps job is easy: increase oil production. Since fossil fuels are a component in everything that moves and is in many products, immediate input costs go down.

Trump could probably end the Ukraine war in a day but would do so under the threat of impeachment. The uni-party wants this war. If they didn't, Ukraine would have accepted a peace agreement that would include not letting NATO put nukes on Russia's border.

Brezhnev died at 75, Andropov at 69, and Chernenko at 73.

The USSR's geriatric leadership were relatively young compared with our current presidential front runners and quite a lot of the US Senators.

 

There is too much at stake to allow someone we are 'not sure' about to serve in the most stressful, important, and potentially catastrophic job on the planet. Get rid of them both.

Depends on a lot. Ukraine sure should have accepted a peace offer made by the Russian before they'd lost 1/2 a million citizens. As a people, there's nothing in this for them.

 

Biden is in his 80s. Trump is in his 70s. If you want to go by age, Trump is your choice.

Just for fun, I looked up the life expectancy of men in the USA, and it looks like the lifespan is about 73 years (What Is the Average Life Expectancy of U.S. Males? (verywellhealth.com)). Strangely, I thought it was 78, which would fit within the 70-80 years from my childhood. I guess it's going down.
