I hope Arnold can pump out a few more action flicks before he officially becomes a fossil. Action movies were as popular as they were primarily because of Arnold's presence in the 80's and 90's.

Please, please, please... do you REALLY think that all Liberal men/women are wimps? How in the world are YOU defining PEOPLE here? I swear, you aren't much different than we all can be at times... but Lord knows, your categorizing of PEOPLE is full of holes.

You really think that "Liberal" people (even in Hollywood) are "wimps"? (I can only chuckle about that.) :)

Look man, I've literally been in harms way as a military member. My GOAL or mission as a human being has never been to be any macho or violent HERO... but to do what I was called to do as a man (soldier). It isn't so 'glamorous'.

While I don't care much for people obfuscating truth, I do accept that too often... some NOT wishing to exhibit humility, compassion or civility, DO PLAY the "politically correct" card often. Really, it's almost like crying "wolf" too much.

Nevertheless, a man properly trained/motivated to do a certain thing, will be plenty violent enough, in the proper situations. We don't need to glorify violence in this society (America) we have enough of that and mental illness to go a very long way.

Sure we do. How else can we get brilliant violent bloodbaths like Total Recall and Predator?

Yeah I do. You guys screamed at Bush calling him a warmonger.

How many movies have been made about the Iraq war in a positive light? How many like Delta Force who are without fail patriotic first.

Even Hurtlocker who was hardly as patriotic as most movies were 15 years ago was attacked by your side.

The most direct argument for the film's virtues along these lines was put forward in The New Yorker, which claimed both that The Hurt Lockerwas "the most skillful and emotionally involving picture yet made about the conflict" and that "American audiences worn out by the mixed emotions of frustration and repugnance inspired by the war can enjoy this film without ambivalence or guilt."

    http://www.thedailybeast.com/newsweek/2010/01/21/all-pain-no-gain.html

I categorize you by what your own party says and does. You have facts to prove otherwise? Let's see them.

Claim anything you like. It has nothing to do with the change in politics in the movies made. Thats why they are MOVIES not real life.

Which once again ignores the topic at hand. The enormous shift from un compromising patriotic movies to weakened characters with emotional problems and less movies about war than ever despite more wars going on right now than there ever were during the 80s and early 90s.

Spoken like a true liberal. Patriotic movies are now labeled as glorifying violence by the left.

You and your attitude is exactly what I'm talking about.

And why exactly should there be?? Just to promiote blind, unquestioning patriotism?? There aren't many positive movies about it because it was a failure, was started based on lies and deceit and has been a blotch on American integrity for 10 years, and most americans agree on that.

Plenty of movies still get made about WW2 because it was honorable and just. There is one in the theatres now matter of fact..

Sounds like Tex just wants the film industry to become a military propoganda machine.

This whole thread is a fail. Look at your current local movie theatre list. Half of them are action shoot-em-ups. This is just fearmonger Texmaster's paranoid fantasy.

True, but in modern metrosexual America, there's about a hair's worth of difference between chick flicks and guy movies. The exception being movies like the Fast and Furious series which has classic masculine characters but portrays them from a politically correct "the bad guy is really the good guy" point of view. Aside from Stallone's recent reprisal of Rambo, there aren't really too many movies coming out anymore these days where the main characters are both masculine and good guys.

......well, Christian Bale's done a pretty good job with Batman. But even he was overshadowed by his co-star in the last film.

The Bourne Series, Taken, a couple of Batman flicks, the Sherlocke Holmes movies, Inception, Kick-Ass, Captain America... I don't know. Seems like there are plenty of action movies out there with men still in possession of their jewels. Part of the problem, I think, is that the classic-style action movies just aren't as popular any more. You have to have some additional flair to it, now. You need a super hero, or crazy premise, or an actor that people don't usually see as an action hero, or one ring to rule them all. "Big guys shooting guns" just doesn't appeal to the masses the way that it used to.

And to restate the obvious: the Twilight vampires are not action heroes. Not in the slightest.

To the Op.........Oh Please. Enough of your liberal hating crap. There is PLENTY of violence in films made today.

    Such as this one.

Oh that's right, you cons refused to see this movie because it is about an illegal killing the evil law enforcers and Governor that murdered his wife. You cons were told to hate it by Rush & co, so just like the mindless drones Rush and co speaks to, the cons listened. I mean, violence is all good when it is all about America! But to hell with violence in ANY other film, especially if it involves an illegal killing evil corrupt Americans.

You want good ole American non sensical ass kicking violence, may I suggest the following.

    (*)(*)(*)(*) YEAH!!!!

    Whatever..

Machete was a propaganda film that taught illegals and barely legalized Mexicans that "the border crossed them" and that they have a right to just move in and set up shop anywhere they want without regard to American laws or the historical truth that there were only 38,000 Mexicans living north of the Rio Grande at the time of Guadelupe Hidalgo and virtually all of them were quite excited to become American Citizens and gladly did so.

But then we take a film like Delta Force, where the enemy is a real one(Islamic Jihadist Terrorists) based on what at the time were real events(Airplane hijackings and the kidnapping and hostage taking of innocent American civilians).

There is no comparison. The idea that "The border crossed them" is a wholly anti-American one, and one that should be shunned within the Hispanic community, not idealized and glorified!

Sure as hell didn't see Mexicans packing theaters to see the historically accurate "The Alamo" with Billy Bob Thornton which showed Mexican Americans in a TRUE, positive, and patriotic light! Mexican-Americans as fighters for freedom!

But of course in the modern hispanic narrative. Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie died trying to steal Mexican land from them!
