If word gets out that there's any actual recounting going on here, the Arizona GOP will go nuts.

Like T****'s call with Zelensky, they don't want any actual recounting.... just the ANNOUNCEMENT that there is a recount going on is sufficient for their purposes......

So the public and reporters are not allowed into the building to view the audit? Isn't this literally what the GOP said democrats were doing????

Well this fishing expedition...eerrrrr....i mean "audit" is even more ridiculous and nonsensical than I thought.

GOP is supposedly concerned about election fraud, but this audit is limited exclusively to seats that democrats won, and any seat a republican won is off limits lol!!! Democrats and republican were on the same "fake ballots" but the same fake ballots that voted for republicans are kosher.

Seriously, how do any of you who support this recount actually fall for this kind of stuff?

Except in that case they were lying about the public not being able to oversight the process.

If anyone wants to know how Republicans think elections should be conducted this is a good example - throw process & oversight out the window & get a group biased toward your side to do the counting.

The company they hired to rig the recount is run by a conspiracy theory sewer rat already in bed with trump's seditious lies about stolen elections.

Sounds like the DOJ is finally getting involved with this nonsense (I refuse to use either the 'A' or 'R' words here).... and since this isn't the toothless DOJ of 2017-2020, that has meaning

    SNIP
Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Pamela S. Karlan said that the Senate contractor's plans to directly contact voters could amount to illegal voter intimidation.
    ENDSNIP

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/us-justice-department-worried-arizona-225934470.html

OTOH, while I'd find it a ridiculous abuse of privacy to be contacted by amateur sleuths about my vote (and probably wouldn't answer the phone anyway), I'd love to sweetly tell them what I think of their after school project....

If so many mail in votes were fraudulent, how come I haven't heard any stories of people showing up at polling locations bring told they already cast a mail in ballot?

they will never say that, just like Trump's voter fraud investigation Trump started, it will end with barely a word

Nothing is wrong with an audit, but we're not talking about an audit. We're talking about a shitshow that is being watched closely by the DoJ and I'm guessing somebody may be going to jail.

In a letter to GOP Senate President Karen Fann, the head of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division said the Senate’s farming out of 2.1 million ballots from the state’s most populous county to a contractor may run afoul of federal law requiring ballots to remain in the control of elections officials for 22 months.

U.S. Justice Department worried about Arizona vote recount (msn.com)

Lol I bet they are worried about the signature verification recount. They should be. That’s why they’ve been fighting tooth and nail to stop one. And also why the government is now threatening them to stop it.

What do they plan to ask the voters when they contact them?

Because it is a sham being done by a company whose only qualification is they agree with Trump the election was stolen.

You got me stumped... I cannot think of a single valid question about an election over 6 months old...

I'm guessing it's possible they'll "find" some ballots that appear to be marked for both candidates in some fashion (remember 2000?) and ask their actual intent?

But I'm glad our DOJ is watching like a hawk.... The potential for illegal activities by this "firm" is very high here...

An individual ballot is not tied to any single person. Seems the most they could ask is if they voted

Yeah, good point... So for calling to be effective, they'd have to call every eligible voter in the county and see if the numbers match up.

If that is the goal, I would have chosen a smaller county....

    :)

The goal is probably to focus on black neighborhoods and hope to intimidate voters to not come out next election

Well, I'm not sure how they will achieve that.... Black people in 2021 will get just as angry as being pestered over their vote as I would be, especially in an upscale county like Maricopa.... this isn't 1947 Alabama...

Just read this story.... it keeps getting better and better...

    Wow.

    This is MAY?

And. some random moronic tinfoil hats come out with a late April Fool's Joke?

    Too funny.

My impeccable inside sources (some guys on the intetnet) told me the ballots were printed on these:

The obvious goal of the Arizona recount: Injecting more doubt into the 2020 results

The reason it’s fun to lie back on a warm spring day and look for shapes in the clouds is that you can usually pick something out. When there are a lot of clouds, slowly swelling and shifting as they drift along, it’s not hard to apply a bit of imagination and see a marching elephant or a hot-air balloon.

Humans are good at spotting patterns in chaos. I’m not an evolutionary scientist, so I’ll defer to them for an explanation of how this was advantageous. But our skill is obvious, even outside the context of lazy afternoons lying in the grass. Give us a big set of data and we can find some throughline.

This ability has collided uncomfortably with the Internet. Give people an endless supply of information, not all of it legitimate, and people can build up entire ecosystems of belief only loosely bound to reality. The flagship example of this in recent months is the QAnon movement, a self-assembled community that has plunged deep into a surreal and dangerous world of belief. But the same can also be said of claims that the 2020 election was somehow stolen from President Donald Trump, a claim that itself depends on a flimsy latticework of cherry-picked dubious or debunked assertions.

Here is some hidden camera footage of the recount from last night... I think they were getting a little frustrated counting all the Biden ballots, so it was time for a pick-me-up...

Note the cameo from T**** in the first 15 seconds (before his hair was done for the day)...
