Then you understand that the ToE doesn't qualify as such. Right?
The difference between proof and confirmation being...?
    Not my problem.
No, what makes sense is realizing that man-made gods, which are self-evidently false ipso facto, serve no other purpose than to protect the ego from awareness of the Real Deal.

If I'm hiding from someone why would I want them to search for me? For example, there is this guy who has never met me I have been actively avoiding. I have even erased every trace of my existence from the internet and public records. He doesn't even know I exist, and hasn't even tried to search for me. I'm very offended he hasn't tried to find me and I'm going to do some very bad things to him because of it.

It might be reasonable for God to expect us to be ethical, but maybe he is also looking for us to be successful as well. Being nice is ok, but maybe what really impresses him are people who have amazing discoveries, build amazing businesses, or lose 300 pounds.

Or maybe God doesn't care about morality and is completely amoral. There is no evidence that objective morality exists and natural sure seems pretty amoral with survival of the fittest being the biggest rule. Maybe he doesn't judge or evaluate us when we die and doesn't really care about us personally. Might explain why he doesn't want a real relationship with any of us.

The God of the bible probably doesn't exist, because he cares whether people believe in him, and we know God is hiding so we know he probably doesn't care. Also the God of the bible made a whole bunch of primitive, illogical, pedantic rules that gives him away as a fictional character made up by humans rather than a real God.

Why doesn't ToE quality as much? What about all those fossils showing it happened?

    That is a good question.
Maybe values that make an individual and society successful, for one thing. [not specifically referring to how much money one earns]

One does have to admit, the non-religious do have some values that are not the most beneficial to them and their society in the long-term.

I am so sorry for you. A grown, educated person who believes in imaginary characters.

There are 1000s of gods, why don't you believe one of them to be the true god?

Fellow atheists, have any religions, sects theist based belief systems intrigued you, or fascinated you as a lifestyle or a philosophy or set of ideas on which to base decisions. Have you wondered, for example, what there is to learn from spending a month as a sikk or a muslim or in an evangelical community or attending synogue?

Do you ever feel envious of what devout theists have acquired from their faith, and their bond with each other or their diety?

    .[/QUOTE]

Proof is definitive and absolute assurance that something no longer can be doubted or studied,
Confirmation is the observed and repeated result being attained concerning aspects of a thing.

It has not shown validity or compelling data to do so.

I dunno about the first part of your post. It's been a long time since anything fascinated me.

Regarding this part, the answer is yes. I have been jealous of those who do not doubt. I have been jealous of those who believe what they have been told about reality. I have imagined that it would be a great comfort to be sure of a particular view.

I can only imagine what it would be like to feel a rock-solid sense of what the universe is.

I think that that is a part of what draws many athiests to the left side of the political spectrum. They appear to have a religious belief in that direction of political thought. It appears to be a pseudo, replacement religion.

One thing that could be learned from non religious societies is that any answer that includes “god” does not does not meaningfully elucidate the answer the original question which was proposed.

Have you actually tried to walk the path of any religion to see if there might be some truth to it?

I envy their absolute certainty but I also think it is the most dangerous thing in the world. Over the years I have come to the conclusion that what other people believe is not that important, it is the certainty with which they believe it that makes ideas dangerous religious or otherwise. But it must be comforting to be able to believe anything with absolute certainty, I can see its appeal.

Not one person in history has ever believed in the Jesus character. So there is no truth in it.

Tecoyah and I agree on nothing but a lack of god(s)

No this is not a rebuttal of Tecoyah, but just to point out the biggest misconception about atheism. It does not mean that you believe in evolution, naturalism, materialism, determinism or even dismiss the supernatural. It simply tells you a person Lacks Belief in Gods. It means nothing more. Thought at least one atheist should stress this.

I am sure there is a lot we do agree on but that would be because we may or may not have a similar world view, mine is based on scepticism and I am aware I share that view with both theists and atheists.

What might such values be, and how do we make them stick?

Is the last bit here a stab against religious people who don't follow their own concepts?
