America First! And the First Americans​

I am working on an essay about the American 1830 Indian Removal Act pushed through Congress by President Andrew Jackson and the State of Georgia. The first part of the essay will address philosophical questions about historical (time) and non-historical (space) ontologies, the paradigmatic cultural construction of social reality, and mythological consciousness. The second part of the essay will be a historical review of the removal of indigenous Native Americans known as the Five Civilized Tribes (Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek, Cherokee, and Seminoles). These particular tribes were called "civilized" because they enthusiastically accepted the white Europeans' invitation to assimilate into settler culture. These tribes, especially the Cherokee, intermarried with the white European settlers producing many mixed American/Indian children. I also, examine the economic conditions of Georgia during the American wildcat banking wars of the 1830s. Here I will examine a different kind of metaphysical time known as banker's compound interest time.

The Demonic Dialectic of Idolatrous Holiness

“Holiness cannot become actual except through holy 'objects.' But holy objects are not holy in and of themselves.”
--Paul Tillich, Systematic Theology," vol.1, p. 216​

The emergence of a demonically distorted church is a slow process of masquerading as Christianity by appropriating the symbols and images of religion to achieve political power, and domination for wholly antidivine purposes. Paul Tillich defines the "demonic" as independent, autonomous, self-sustaining, dynamic, creative evil. And Tillich writes about "the new interpretation of the demonic in theology and literature have contributed to the understanding of these powers of being, which are not beings, but structures ("Systematic Theology," vol.1, p. 260; italics added)." How can the holy become demonic?

"Such a concept of the holy opens large sections of the history of religion to theological understanding, by explaining the ambiguity of the concept of holiness at every religious level. Holiness cannot become actual except through holy 'objects.' But holy objects are not holy in and of themselves. They are holy only by negating themselves in pointing to the divine of which they are the mediums. If they establish themselves as holy, they become demonic. They still are 'holy,' but their holiness is antidivine. A nation which looks upon itself as holy is correct in so far as everything can become a vehicle of man’s ultimate concern, but the nation is incorrect in so far as it considers itself to be inherently holy. Innumerable things, all things in a way, have the power of becoming holy in a mediate sense. They can point to something beyond themselves. But, if their holiness comes to be considered inherent, it becomes demonic. This happens continually in the actual life of most religions. The representations of man’s ultimate concern--holy objects--tend to become his ultimate concern. They are transformed into idols. Holiness provokes idolatry ("Systematic Theology," vol. 1, p. 216; bold added)."

This process of the holy becoming antidivine is a perfect example of the Hegelian dialectic. The old saw of "thesis, antithesis, synthesis" is taken from the German philosopher, Fichte, and is only a good introduction to the Hegelian concept. Hegel's understanding of the dialectic is much more subtle--there are not two separate elements that collide creating a third element, the synthesis. No, for Hegel, there is one element, or identity (for example a concept in science, philosophy, or religion) that goes through a process of metamorphosis in which concept A becomes its opposite, non-A, and then a third synthesis state which retains within itself its original state and its contradiction. Money is very dialectical. It is dependable, but sometimes scarce, yet at other times it is abundant, but unreliable. If a bank endlessly printed currency, eventually the flood of notes will cause inflation (more paper money chasing relatively less commodities). The act of printing of currency that in the beginning was profitable is now ruinous: the excessively printed bills are now in effect anti-money.

The same demonic dialectic can enter into the concept of the holy in which the finite presents itself as the infinite, or unconditional. The Protestant Principle calls out to Christians to identify and criticize this desire of elevating the finite to the level of the infinite, i.e., idolatry is the claim of something conditioned to be unconditioned:

"The Protestant principle is the expression of this relationship. It is the guardian against the attempts of the finite and conditioned to usurp the place of the unconditional in thinking and acting. It is the prophetic judgment against religious pride, ecclesiastical arrogance, and secular self-sufficiency and their destructive consequences. The Protestant principle in this sense is not strange to the situation of the proletariat in modern society. It is, on the contrary, the exact expression of its religious significance as an outstanding example of man's situation ("The Protestant Era," Tillich, 1948, Univ. Chicago, p. 163) (pdf.)."

We are entering what Tillich calls a “heterogeneous” political period when the attempt of a “religion to dominate autonomous cultural creativity from the outside.” In other words, heteronomy is rule of a religious dictatorship that is contrasted with an “autonomous” political period of self-complacent autonomy such as secular humanism. Both forms of culture can be dictatorial and demonic. (read more at, Tillich's “The Protestant Era”, p. XVI).

“Heteronomy imposes an alien law, religious or secular, on man's mind. It disregards the logos structure of mind and world. It destroys the honesty of truth and the dignity of the moral personality. It undermines creative freedom and the humanity of man. Its symbol is the 'terror' exercised by absolute churches or absolute states. Religion, if it acts heteronomously, has ceased to be the substance and life-blood of a culture and has itself become a section of it, which, for getting its theonomous greatness, betrays a mixture of arrogance and defeatism (Ibid., p. 46).”

An antidivine struggle is a serious situation. Paul Tillich witnessed the Nazis of the 1930s infiltrate the Christian church out of the desire for a "Muscular Christianity" in place of the weakling's, "Jesus is a woman with a beard" Christianity. Those Christians that did not agree with Christian Nationalism joined their families in the labor camps, death camps, and some faced the hangman's rope, and the guillotine. Tillich wrote these books to warn us of the dangers of Christian Nationalism.

"Justice is the criterion which judges idolatrous holiness. The prophets attack demonic forms of holiness in the name of justice. The Greek philosophers criticize a demonically distorted cult in the name of Dike [δίκη: right as dependent on custom, law, right]. In the name of the justice which God gives, the Reformers destroy a system of sacred things and acts which has claimed holiness for itself. In the name of social justice, modern revolutionary movements challenge sacred institutions which protect social injustice. In all these cases it is demonic holiness, not holiness as such, which comes under attack. However, it must be said with regard to each of these cases that to the degree to which the antidemonic struggle was successful historically, the meaning of holiness was transformed. The holy became the righteous, the morally good, usually with ascetic connotations. The divine command to be holy as God is holy was interpreted as a requirement of moral perfection ("Systematic Theology," vol. 1, p. 216; link added)."

And we are seeing a rerun of the same demonically distorted cult re-emerging as Christian Nationalism in America today financed by billionaires to disguise their hostile takeover of the American government. One example is Tim Whitaker from the New Evangelicals responsibly reporting how a crypto-Nazi and political operative Eric Metaxas is publishing false histories of the Christian theologian Bonhoeffer and the Nazi takeover of German Churches in the 1930s. Charlie Kirk of Turning Point USA is another propagandist that has no imagination, but is funded by Conservative political extremists not unlike the old John Birch Society. Both of these propagandists, Metaxas and Kirk, have no real political critiques--they just project and mimic the progressive left's arguments. The fascist right simply mimics the critique of Christian Fascism given by the antifascists and project it back at their adversaries. It's the cheapest (and fastest) propaganda an organization can spread since it only takes dimwits to disseminate.

The American Christian nationalists are organizing a massive voter registration campaign claiming the Donald Trump is a "once in a thousand-year presidential candidate for Christians" Of course! Trump is just like Jesus because Jesus raped women too!

 

I can’t say this is the most ignorant thing I’ve seen lately because the field is so flooded, but definitely rates.

 

Alleged rape. Women do lie far more than men, don't you know, especially when there is a potential payout involved. As for Biden, he is alleged to have raped a young Aide in Congress. And when he was "dating" his current Wife, she was married to another man. That makes he and she adulterers. We also have heard the allegations about Harris ascension in politics. They are a dirty bunch, and their platform is dirtier. At least Trump doesn't pretend to be saintly. What's remarkable is that despite his shortcomings, Democrats can't come up with a better man or woman. So if Trump is so bad, what does that say about liberals.

 

America's Shadow: A Legacy of Dehumanization​

Shahid Bolsen mentions the plight of the American Indian in this video: "Shahid Bolsen dives deep into the disturbing pattern of dehumanization woven into the fabric of American history. He explores how the powerful people, from slavery's darkest chapters to current exploitative practices, justified cruelty by stripping others of their humanity." Bolsen knows American history better than many Native Americans. Those American Indian leaders that have stated the view that Bolsen has given here were assassinated such and the American Indian Movement (AIM) leader Richard Oaks.

Currently, I am reading one of the most comprehensive and complete single detailed book on this subject by Cherokee author Rebecca Nagle titled, "By the Fire We Carry: The Generations-Long Fight for Justice on Native Land," (2008 ). With the exception of the Nazi gas chambers, the American Indians suffered all the methods of death and torture that the European Jews suffered.

One Tennessee militia member name Davy Crockett witnessed Jackson's US militiamen in a war against the Creek Indians known as the "Red Sticks" shoot women and children "like dogs." And in one case the US militia set fire to a house filled with Indian women and children inside and watched a 12-year-old boy burn alive. The next day the militiamen were out of food supplies and went back to the house they burned down looking for food and found an entire basement full of potatoes. However, they also discovered that the potatoes were cooked in human fat from the burned bodies of the Creek Indian family.

The United States militiamen ate the potatoes. (Nagle, p. 32).

"The word “Wetico” (spelled “Wetiko” or “Witiko”) comes from Cree and other Algonquian languages. It refers to a cannibalistic spirit or monster driven by greed, excess, and selfish consumption." But Wetico doesn't just mean eating human flesh, but also means the "eater of life." The European settlers were essentially parasites on the American indigenous Indians. The is why the fascist Christian Nationalist do not want American history taught in public schools.

I don't think Bolsen has read any of this history, but he is right on! The similarities of the extermination of the Palestine people in Gaza and the American Indians during the 1830s are creepy, or if I may say, "Demonic."

The 7 deadly sins are viewed as the most severe because they represent fundamental weaknesses of human nature that distance individuals from God. PRIDE, GREED, ENVY, WRATH, LUST, SLOTH, & GLUTTONY

PRIDE is an inflated sense of one’s own status, accomplishments, or abilities, leading to arrogance and vanity. It is often considered the most severe of the deadly sins because it can lead to an overestimation of self-worth and a disregard for others. Pride is seen as the root of other sins and vices, as it leads to an individual placing themselves above others and even above God.

GREED is the intense and selfish desire for wealth, power, or material possessions. It goes beyond a basic need for financial stability and becomes a compulsive pursuit. Greed can cause a person to prioritize wealth over relationships, moral values, and spiritual well-being.

LUST is an intense longing or desire, usually for sexual pleasure, but it can also include an obsession with other forms of gratification. It turns physical and emotional attraction into an overpowering urge that disregards the well-being of others. Lust can lead to objectifying others, eroding personal relationships, and engaging in harmful behaviors to fulfill these desires. "When you're a star they let you do it. You can do anything."

ENVY is the desire for others' traits, status, abilities, or situation, leading to feelings of discontent and resentment. Unlike jealousy, which is fear of losing something, envy is wanting something that belongs to someone else [Putin]. Envy often leads to spiteful behavior and can destroy relationships and personal contentment.

GLUTTONY is the overindulgence and overconsumption of anything to the point of waste. While it is most commonly associated with food, it can extend to an obsession with any form of consumption. Gluttony can cause harm to physical health, waste of resources, and a focus on material comfort at the expense of spiritual or personal growth.

WRATH (or anger) is intense emotional response and uncontrollable feelings of hatred and rage. It involves a desire for revenge and can manifest as violent, aggressive, or hostile behavior. ["I am your retribution! "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT"] Wrath can lead to destructive behavior, harm to others, and a loss of control, causing irreversible damage to oneself and others.

SLOTH is the avoidance of physical or spiritual work. It is not just laziness but also a failure to do what is necessary [neglecting the Covid pandemic], leading to neglect of one’s responsibilities. Sloth can result in wasted potential, missed opportunities, and a lack of contribution to one’s own well-being or the welfare of others.

Those who are mesmerized only by what “is” cannot plan for the possible. From abstraction comes illusion, but it would be a mistake to stop our critique here, writing-off religion as merely utopian false consciousness. Philosopher Ernest Bloch reads utopian projection as a deep desire for liberation anticipating a non-teleological fulfillment of new possibilities for freedom.

“U-topia” means “no-place” in the present, active, indicative (i.e. actuality), but utopia also can mean “possibility” in an ontology of becoming. Existentialist Karl Jaspers wrote about the rise of fascism in German during the 1920s: “What was in the past no longer counts, only that which actually is. Oblivion is the basic trait of such a life, whose outlook upon past and present shrink so much that scarcely anything remains in the mind but the bald present (Karl Jaspers in the “Modern Age,” p. 50).”

Trump does claim to be saintly in that he denies ALL charges and convictions against him and claims to worship the lord. He clearly and frequently declares his godliness and innocence.

Your defense of his sex conviction is absolutely disgusting.

Also, at this point Trump is increasingly senile. His campaign stops are getting more and more deranged. His racism is being made ever more clear.

Kamala Harris does not back all policies I support. She claims commitment to Biden's policy of continued slaughtering of Muslim civilians, for example. Today, she is strapped to Biden's policy as his VP. I hope she can move in a different direction as president.

But, she does recognize that there are citizens who need help - in Medicare, in food and housing, in education, in combatting racism, etc.

Trump views these issues as opportunities for cutting budget as he continues his claims to better healthcare systems - without giving ANY clue, but with a history of wanting serious cuts.

Christian Theologian Paul Tillich insists on a historical interpretation of time over against the nonhistorical interpretation of nature, and this is because the entire concept of justice is embedded in time for first century New Testament Christian theology. Tillich's view gives insight into the struggle over the space we now call Gaza today for this very reason, and is critical of the "elected nations" that abandons God for the gods of space:

"Prophetic monotheism is the monotheism of justice. The gods of space necessarily destroy justice. The unlimited claim of every spatial god unavoidably clashes with the unlimited claim of any other spatial god. The will to power of the one group cannot give justice to another group. This holds true of the powerful groups within a nation and of the nations themselves. Polytheism, the religion of space, is necessarily unjust. The unlimited claim of any god of space destroys the universalism implied in the idea of justice. This and this alone is the meaning of prophetic monotheism. God is one God because justice is one. The prophetic threat against the elected nation, that it will be rejected by God because of injustice, is the real victory over the gods of space. The interpretation of history in Deutero-Isaiah, according to which God calls the foreign nations in order to punish His own nation because of its injustice, elevates God to the universal God. In Search of the Mythical Golden City of El Dorado​

The 1972 film “Aguirre, the Wrath of God,” directed by German filmmaker Werner Herzog, serves as a profound cinematic exploration of imperialism during the sixteenth century. Herzog skillfully illustrates the deceitful nature of imperialism and the malevolent political forces at play by presenting them as distinct characters, all of whom contribute to the enslavement of entire cultures and societies. The film draws loosely from a fictional account written by Dominican missionary Father Gaspar de Carvajal, detailing a Spanish conquistadors' expedition in the Amazon rainforest in search of the mythical golden city of El Dorado.

The key characters include:
- Klaus Kinski portrays Lope de Aguirre, the central figure who embodies the imperialistic ideals of greed and power.
- Gonzalo Pizarro serves as the official leader of the Spanish expedition, delegating the command to Don Pedro de Ursúa, with the treacherous Aguirre as his second-in-command.
- The slobbish pig nobleman Don Fernando de Guzmán symbolizes the Spanish crown, while his brother,
