Not everyone runs on emotions as you seem to be doing. Live a little. Don't be so emotional.

Did every human before last Tuesday wage war against the United States? Outside of the Confederate traitors, what other people who have waged war against the US have US military bases named after them?

Change it! Do it now. Clear the slate of every link to the past. Here's what you should aim for:

If they peed in the shower, they shouldn't have a "Thank you for not peeing in the shower" monument named after them. If they waged war against the US, they shouldn't have a US base named after them. But you keep holding out for the Fort Hirohito! You clearly want it.

But thank you for admitting that waging war against our country is no more serious to you than peeing in the shower. It explains so much about your "position." I rather like our country, but you are free to leave it if you really hold it in such low regard.

You’re a democrat, so by definition you are anti-science, support racist ideas, oppose the rule of law.

I'm a registered republican. And you are incapable of discussing the issues at hand and are back to relying on intellectually dishonest escape hatches. Come back to the table when you can discuss the topic. We're talking about the naming of US military bases and whether or not it is a good idea to name them after our military enemies. When you are able to have that conversation, please join us. Until then, at least it is entertaining seeing you running away and hiding behind vapid nonsense.

the party switched starting with trumans 1948 integration of the armed forces, george wallace actually ran as a dixiecrat in 1968, but this is what happens when one allows RW media to educate them, i and a few others have mentioned TRUE history a few times and it makes no difference, its only a tip off of where your ideas come from (and others) this should not even need discussing...there exists a whole Wikipedia page in the subject, and by the way nobody was "slave supporting" by the 1940s

I must have really hit that nerve when I pointed out you support that party of slavery. Don’t blame me I’m just the messenger!

I'm sorry you still can't decide on whether or not you can discuss the topic. Pointing out that you are okay with naming our military bases after our military enemies and how insane that is has obviously hit a nerve. But thank you for admitting that you still haven't read the thread.

a closer examination of your history reveals the democratic southern slavery supporters were in fact conservatives, and not liberals in any way

Wikipedia is your reference? So you’re one of those “I read it on Wikipedia and I’m an expert now”.

Even Wikipedia cofounder Larry Sanger has abandoned and denounced Wikipedia as being so leftward biased it’s worthless.

The party switch is BS and has been soundly debunked. Come back when you have read something real.

sir i am 66 yrs old and have read history since i became fascinated in the 8th grade and debating the concept of the democratic party of the 1850s and assigning equivalency to todays party, ignores the liberal nature of the just formed republican party for one, and is just established history..RW history is an attempt to rewrite history...the slave owners were conservatives and only your echo chamber will agree with your rewritten history

They were democrats, the party that emancipated the slaves was the Republican Party.

Democrats were for slavery, started the KKK, and created Jim Crow.

Democrats are the same racists today they have always been.

I grew up around neo-Confederates and KKK members. You haven't spent much time thinking about this.

Reliability is not relative, wiki is disreputable untrustworthy propaganda site independent of other sources and my comments.

But it’s interesting you think the truth is relative, it partly explains why you support the party of slavery.

And yet for all that fascination with history you give me Wikipedia, the most biased untrustworthy site on the internet.

If you can quite me saying truth is relative, or supporting slavery in any way, I'll donate $1000 to your charity of choice. Go ahead. Try shifting gears and being intellectually honest for one post.

So you were raised in a democrat house, explains a lot. Maybe you are rational and only support the party of slavery because that’s how you were raised. Sort of like a person following a certain religion because that’s how they were raised..
